John Wayne's son...that's actually a good buddy to call
No
@@beatstork what do you mean no?
@@loveofmangos001 No
It's a massive flex
It would be the same if they would call the store owner directly. He could have told them that he does not issue CoAs.
The guy knew it. He got nervous about an expert and then more nervous about calling the signer of the COA
Ethan asked where he bought the sword and he wasn't sure. This COA is fake he said, where did you buy it, he is like "Uhh, I thought I bought it from etc, but not sure."
That certificate looked freshly printed from his own PC !
the show is acted out after they make a deal, they made him ask who the expert was so rick could say "John Wayne's son"
BUSTED!!!
He admitted it when he said he had five more of "the sword" John Wayne used in Rio Grande.
rick: let me call a buddy of mine
ricks buddy: let me call a buddy of mine
And it goes deeper..
Ricks buddy these things are all over the place they decrease in value I'm not really sure what it's worth
Rick's buddy's buddy: Let me call Rick.
Ricks buddys puppy: Let me call my wife
Buddyception
The first give away was when the guy snapped back “who’s your expert?” Then immediately shrunk back when he heard who it was.
Thought the same thing. That guy was such a fraud.
Absolutely thank you fellows
That's true. I've got the same idea.
You're absolutely right......
Ya watch his reactions lol
It doesn’t get any better than that to have his son come down , and his son called the guy for extra confirmation!
While I lived in San Diego I had a P.O. box. They slot our mail in around 9 AM. I arrived 10 minutes early. An old gentleman was waiting for his mail as well. So we started chatting etc. Then he tells me he was one of the stars on Bonanza (sp?). Also stared in many western movies. I forget his name now, but I googled him and sure enough it was him!
Sha C That is awesome. Maybe you will find him if you search for "Bonanza" on IMDB? Keep me in the loops, man😁
Sorry when I think of America I don't think of John Wayne.Mickey Mouse yes.
@@williamnordeste1169 couldn't have said it better either Mickey or Ronald McDonald 🤣🤣🤣
AMEN
2:16 the man’s facial expression says it all. 😂
Fun fact: John Wayne's grandson, Brendan Wayne, is one of the stunt doubles for the Mandalorian.
The guy knew the sword was fake - he had five more of "the sword" John Wayne used.
That look you give when you know you're about to get busted for forgery.
The seller knew. I can tell by his defence before the expert came. Con artist
When Ethan asked who he bought the sword from he didn't know. He said he thought he bought it from western costume but wasn't sure.
@@Hotonez303 Whenever they say they don't know where they bought the fakes then its them.
Yeah his reaction when Rick said he was calling an expert was highly suspicious. And then he wouldn't say who he bought it from.
Yea, got that impression from the start
Con man!
The old man is so awesome.
pause at 2:16 after Rick tells him Wayne's son's comin in.. Thats the guys "Eeeee 😬 oh no they caught me" face
Idk the guy doesn't look too comfortable when the Ethan was on the phone telling him it's cut and paste...
That's what I was thinking, he was trying to scam pawn stars
Ethan asked who he bought it from and he didn't know, he said he thought he bought it from western costume company but he wasn't sure. How does he not know?
@@toyotarizzle he also said I have 5 more swords with the same seal, means that he is probably the one faking the documents
@@titoyama5760 but he isn't sure where he got them. Call the police.
The old man was smart enough to see what was going on .
@2:05 looking at his reaction when he was told that they will call john wayne's son I knew it was fake.
I still think that was John Wayne's hat on the one episode they had . Hats do shrink!!
I think the same as you
RIP to the Old Man. We know he’s up there in the sky squinting and looking down
Just meeting John Wayne's son in general would be priceless
Buddy: Let me call my puppy
Puppy: (Walking into the store with a club)
2:16 what is this look for?
I thought the guy was gonna bolt for the door when the dude on the phone said it was a fugazi.
Rick knew..... that look was staring right through him
Into his soul lol
Rest in Peace to the Old Man .
Rip🥺🙏🏼Pops💔😕
This guy was totally planning on selling all those other swords he mentioned to the pawn shop one by one. He thought he was slick lol
I miss the old man🤧
Yeah bro 👍🏾
Seller: "When you think 'America', you think 'John Wayne' "
Me, an European: "Who's John Wayne?"
Me as an American who’s John Wayne?
I miss the "Old Man". He was the best.
When he said " Either way it'll be great to meet him" I knew that he knew it was a fake.
This is an INSULT to the John Wayne community
LOL, love it!
Note to self do not buy swords from this guy
I love pawnshops! Keep em coming!
Hi! Thanks for watching #PawnStars on RUclips! Subscribe to never miss a great find or tough negotiation.
why is his signature so pixelated? it looks freshly printed but at low resolution lol.
They did this so other people wouldn’t copy it.
I've seen a lot of "Let me call a buddy of mine..." from Rick, but this is absolutely the best
The dude has 5 more certified fakes to sell.
@6:27 they didn’t even shake his hand
Love the detective work in this.
I'm kind of thinking that seller is the one that did that copy and paste job lmao
The seller knew all along it was fake his definitely a con artist
Doubt he was even a marine at this point
@@1233-i3y What's being a marine have to do with that conclusion? Marines can lie too you know.
Do you think every expert on their resume has “buddy of rick” written on it? Lol
Miss you old man RIP💐💐💐💐💐
That guy knew it was a fake and didn't expect what happen to line up the way it did.
john wanye's son..how cool to meet him. ..better than the item ..a memory for ever..
Rebecca's no fake; she's the Real McCoy!
'I know it was used by John Wayne because it has a tag attatched with his name on it'
'Also would you like to buy a cheap real Rolex watch?'
6:04 I've got 5 more swords with the same COA also seemed a little fishy to me.
What he Meant to say was I made 5 more just like it
When I heard Rick and the old man’s convo in that start I remembered a story my dad told me that Nixon lived near one of his friends
4:33 he knows what is now coming......
Just so I'm understanding this. Instead of calling an expert you call in his son who is not an expert who then calls an expert.....
Next time just get an expert.
Because he didn’t know the owner
Did ricks buddy really call his own buddy😂😂
So you have a historical artifact and to get rid of it, you take it to a pawnshop?
God I miss the old History Channel.
Ah! Well, who cares about a sword anyway when you had the great opportunity to meet John Wayne's Son 😉
Haha that might of been the true goal lol
"Let me call in a buddy of mine who's gonna call a buddy of his"
Sad you got caught.
I can't believe the seller didn't think of calling the number on the COA before buying the sword.
"So, who ya gonna call? [smartass]"
--John Wayne's son...
O_o...
but, but, but! Mic-drop.
"I didn't sign up for this sh*t", sellers mind voice.
3:16 what was that?
1:11 Calvary sword.
Blunt ending lol
he says "when you say america you think john wayne" me "who's john wayne, and I live in america nearly my whole life
Lmao whaaatttt???? Everyone knows who John Wayne is. I’m in my early 20s and I know who he is... you should definitely check out his old westerns they are really good. ☺️
o
Rip old man :(
I’m surprised that John Wayne had a son. I legit never knew that
He actually has 3 sons, Michael, Patrick and Ethan.....pretty sure that all 3 appeared in various movies with The Duke, and even directed or produced a few too👍🏻👍🏻
@@cob2076 neat
RIP Pops.
Good old Ethan, he is named after character his dad played in "The Searchers" (1956) and he played his dad's grandson in "Big Jake" (1971)
@2:16 the seller looks like he’s hiding something.
Rip the old legend
If it was one of your "prized possessions" then why were you trying to sell it
When you call a buddy, and the buddy also needs to call a buddy.
He knew.
Ethan asked who he bought it from and he said he thought he bought it from western costume company. How does he not know who he bought it from.
maybe he thought the person selling was from western costume company.
@@flosyd7891 I was thinking that. Maybe it was on eBay or something.
Guy who forged the certification is trying to play as if he's the victim.
That dude with glasses faked it
Rick knows.
Seing pops😭 Full respect
Clearly the guy didnt buy it from anyone, he made all the fake certificate clearly evidenced by his facial expressions.
He just exposed himself to the public hahaha
Plot twist.. The seller is the Forger 😂🤣.. with 5 more swords at home
It's kind of uncanny but if you look at the old man at 52 seconds into the video, he looks just like Cory.
Cory looks a lot more like his grandpa than his dad.
Ricks expert had to call in his expert.
Rick said Rio Grand lofl.
I wasn't aware of Richard Snr. passing. My deepest condolences to your family.
Any counterfeit certificate of authenticity is an insult to the John Wayne Howdy Pilgrim community!!!
Dammit I know 😀😅😂
*pulls put Luigi board*
"yo John is this your sword?"
When I think America I think Ronald McDonald 😂
RIP old man
this guy said O.O
If anyone’s interested the body language the seller was displaying throughout was indicative of multiple ‘tells’ - I think he knew all along they weren’t legit.
Yeah, especially at 3:16
Seller says he got it from Western Costume Company. Then, he proceeds to say "well, I thought it was from Western Costume Company??!!" Why would they fake thier own COA? And all of a sudden he goes from knowing where he bought it to not sure. Top it all off with divulging he has 6 more of those at home. Something doesn't add up.
Rick: Best I can do is half a hope,
And $10.
When I think about America I think about George Washington I never even heard of John Wayne until now
funny when i think of america , its what has florida man done now?
skywalker01974 3 minutes later shoot out in a Florida beach
@@Ruebenbayona without checking i totally believe you

What we humans do to others for money is an insane thing
Fake !!! The look 👀 on the guys face man!
1:47 what no i am almost 100% sure no one except this man thinks that
I would have wanted John Wayne collectables, But after hearing what came out his mouth in that interview. It just destroyed my image of him.
This was the buddy system.
6:25 This is the kind of rare expression when a seller can't say a word against anything being claimed by experts because it's authenticity literally denied from the sources.
I feel bad for the man.
I have this 1700 Bible. Let cal my expert. Jesus comes in😂
Rick always knows somebody, who knows somebody, that knows something about it..
I miss the old man .... :( R.I.P
This also goes to show that just because you have a CoA, doesn't mean the item is genuine. It's just a piece of paper that can be faked more easily than the item being sold. Even if CoAs had watermarks, microprinting, and colour shifting ink, the person who issued the certificate could be misinformed or a fraudster.
I think that dude made those fake documents. and I can suggest a couple of things to support this idea
