Best Airgun in World ? FX Impact M3

  • A touchstone review for my probably short-lived foray into airguns, here's what many consider to be the best airgun currently made. The FX Impact M3 and follow on upgrades is a super quality, powerful, supremely accurate air rifle that competes with .22s. No joke.
In extended testing we learned the platform well and were highly impressed with all its versatility and capabilities. Entry price is steep and I'm going to have fun with this in the intro. But I will circle back and put the question squarely where it needs to be, NOT cost BUT value.
Much shooting of the Impact M3 in my preferred .25 cal will be shown, sorry no killing of animals here. But lots a fun toy boat shooting, steel targets, in field accuracy testing out to 100 yds and a lot more. Conclusion will be drawn in this feature length air gun review and I will rest my case with the data presented! Brought to you by TNP Donors. They bought this gun for review.

I have two highly modded FX Impact MK2s. I have them set up as slug guns, and love them! One is in .30 cal, and one is in .35 cal. They have never failed to drop whatever animal I have aimed them at, and their ability to hit small things from far away is absolutely stunning.
I work for a major gun company and own several firearms. My truck gun? It's my Impact MK2 .30 cal. Sure, I have a pistol as a backup, but I love that Impact!

I have also grown up with bb guns like the Red Ryder and pellet rifle the old Benjamin pump and on, then turned to powder burners. I now have had my FX Impact M3 .22 Compact and it is a blast. It will set you back about 3k for the rifle and a 300 bar compressor (hand pump is not fun). If powder burners are outlawed then this or a crossbow could be a home protection option. Oh, and I have put a Sightmark 4k Mini night vision optic with a Sniper Hog Lights IR light. As far as is it worth it, YES. It is fun letting friends and Family shoot it and watch their reactions. Thanks for another great video

Nutn I’ve been airgunning for a few years now! The capabilities are awesome. I’ve got my .22 / .25 / .45 pcp rifles and they are great. You can also seal off some cheap arrows and launch them through that .45 bore and that’s a type of fun that’s hard to replicate

Whole different animal. Break barrels pose awesome challenge, because technique is demanding. The pcp i got, avenger, hole over hole no matter how I hold it, more power, its the ultimate shooter for fun. It's accurate to the point of being boring almost, as is so predictable, but I'm still not bored lol. The break barrel with a buddy is challenge accepted, but pcp vs break barrel, there's no chance. Pcp wins every time. :)

Air rofles keeps me shooting at this point. Saving LR ammo. By the way, small pistol primers are non existing from January, so pistol shooting is also down to once a month...

Have a M3 my self in the 35cal. Going to get some more barrels soon. It is the most shot gun own. Cheap and easy to shot and quite so no hearing protection or people over hearing and coming to ask questions. Have had a fx impact mk 1 before this.
Most that hate are people who have never shot one. After someone shots mine they love it. The price is high but woth the cost of ownership after the first buy in being so low it makes up for it in a year with how much I like to shoot.

I've found the h&n supremely consistent, making a great value option considering price. The hunter extreme seems to work well in most barrels. I've been using slugs for going beyond sonic. Skirted pellets like 900 fps range, slugs get better trajectory at range and speed.

I won't drop the "hammer" on the air rifle until I figure out how to refill it and the associated costs. GX PCP Air Compressor Company makes reasonable priced air compressors that fill the rifle directly, avoiding the "scuba bottle." Its a toss-up between the 12-volt GX CS2 or 12-volt/120-volt GX CS3 model. Any thoughts?

    • @andyh2137

I own the GX 18v version and its been great, I fill both a FX impact M3 and a Maverick on a weekly basis with no problems. I probably have well over 20hrs run time on this compressor with no issues. It will fill either gun from empty in under 15 minutes and top off in under 10 minutes. Hope this helps!

Na I use the air gun so much as ammo is fairly cheap . I have a donny FL emperor suppressor and call shoot a 30 cal in my back yard looking out over woods so I get to practice my shooting fundamentals, and get real time practice using a scope properly. Then the fact that I can stack pellets at 150 yards on top of each other it's unreal accurate. You start feeling Like your a damn sniper lol

You can tell a pellet is loaded in a Wildcat by attempting to engage the safety lever. If it moves all the way into the safety position, there is a pellet in the chamber. If it is unloaded, the safety will only go half way back. I found this by accident. Ha! Not sure if the Impact is the same, but it's something to try. FX does need to improve this. I have also read that it is bad for a PCP to be stored with no pressure in the tank.

    wait wait.
    You're getting 1000+fps on the crown mark 2 with 40grain 22?
Yeah, looked it up. 920 max rated on 22 with Crown Mark 2.
What sets the Impact M3 apart is the fine adjust system for maximum tuning while doing precision shooting. Having worked with Matt Dubber doing video's and watching him shoot this rilfe for 3 days straight, the justification has to be more in the "i want all the features to get the best possible that I want from what this gun can do" vs the Crown mark 2 which is "I want a really good air rifle that is high quality without all the fluff, and I'll take my 1moa groups without problem"
Whooops, knee jerked a hair there on the pause button with Nuttin comparing it to the Crown.
Its totally a POU thing with the Impact vs other guns, or even the new Panthera. Which I'm hoping to get to try here soon. FX is building powerful rifles to push the limitations of air guns, and when you can grab the FX Impact M3 and get 22 long rifle ballistics from an air gun, its absolutely insane.
300 yards with Impact is easy peezy for these guns when setup properly and your gas system fine tuned, and that's the whole point of the Impact and the Panthera which is built more for competition, not bench shooting. But if you wanna sit at 100 yards and put shot after shot in the same hole, you want the Impact.
