    Some fun facts:
    - The movie was filmed in Milwaukee, my home town, and so a lot of my older relatives and their friends were all extras at County Stadium and in the background
    - The fancy restaurant they go to in the film is the same restaurant where my parents had one of their first dates
    - They used my former high school's football team locker rooms for their locker rooms

he was still throwing 80-82 at the time of filming. they moved the mound in 9 feet so they wouldnt need trick photography to get the speed right. the time his pitches were taking from 51 ft would be the same time that a 100 mph pitch would take from 60.

Dude, I saw this when it hit theaters back in '89. It was one of those RARE cinema experiences where the WHOLE AUDIENCE got involved! Yo, when they won at the end, the whole theater BLEW UP! People were jumping up and cheering and throwing popcorn everywhere! I even got wrapped up in it, and I'm not even a sports guy! Good times, man!
"A League of Their Own" isn't as "wild" as "Major League", but it's sooo NICE! It's good for your heart!

Being from Cleveland and a baseball fan, this movie was in heavy rotation when I was growing up. Baseball is a sport that grows on you the more you watch it. I also believe that baseball (along with hockey) are sports that are much more fun to watch in person. I had no interest in baseball until my parents took me to my 1st Indians game when I was 14. That changed everything (though College Football and the NFL will always be my favorite sports).

I am from Wisconsin, so I love this movie because the home stadium for the Cleveland Indians was actually County Stadium, the old home of the Milwaukee Brewers. The original test screenings for the movie did not do well. They added Bob Uecker scenes later, and viewers loved it. Ironically, Bob Uecker was and still is, to this day, the announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Saw Charlie Sheen on a plane to Cleveland once. He was going to throw out the first pitch for the playoffs and sitting in economy for some reason. I was going to Cleveland to see the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Anyway, I didn't' have tix for the Indians game, but I snuck into the stadium, slipped under a gate. The late 80s and early 90s saw a lot of good sports, especially baseball movies. The Sandlot (my favourite), Rookie of the Year, Cool Runnings (about the first Jamaican Bobsled Team, lots of fun), The Mighty Ducks, The Big Green, Little Giants, Bend It Like Beckham (from 2002, but awesome), Coach Carter, White Men Can't Jump (LMFAO), The Hurricane, A League of Their Own (first women's baseball league starring Tom Hanks), and The Karate Kid (the original) are all terrific sports movies. Some of those movies are can't miss classics that should be on everyone's bucket list.

There was an alternative script twist that portrayed Phelps as a mastermind that pushed them to win by reverse psychology, but they decided to keep her the antagonist. It kind of makes sense because no one wanted to play in Cleveland, so the only ones that would play inspired ball were players with no other choice. Veterans that were all stars at one point with one last good season in them, and could guide the raw young players through the season. Then there’s the Manager, a conventional Major League coach couldn’t work with the young unconventional talent like he could, and he was used to talking straight to all his players because of his long time as a minor league coach. So there’s logic to it, but it’s asking for way too much suspension of disbelief from the audience.

This is one of my favorite movies when I was a young teenager. It was so much unlike anything like it before, and what is the the most awesome part...the Indians had been doing pretty badly in real life for a long time, and they Won the American League east championship pennant in real life, in 1995 and again in 1997, much like the team winning the same league championship in this movie.
That being said, watching the Toronto Blue Jays (my Family's home team) win the World series back to back in 1992 and 1993 was epic.

51:20 That actually wasn’t the World Series. That was just the League Championship. In the start of the second movie, we find out they lost the World Series. The plot is trying again, with some new people, but this time, going for it all.

This and A League Of Their Own are the two best baseball movies of all time, although which one is my favorite changes all the time. #3 is Bull Durham.

She's like the female version of Robert Irsay who moved the Baltimore Colts to Indy. Guy would get so drunk and even decided to coach the team himself one game.

Major League 2 is just as good. Also, the actor who plays Pedro Cerano is in old Allstate Insurance ads.

Getting a bunch of old guys to play on a team isn't always the worst decision to make! My Arizona Diamondbacks did it... Created a team.. got a bunch of old guys/has been's and won the world series in 2001. lol... we have sucked since.. but at least we got 1 lol.
