Doing it outdoor with consistency (10 to 15T/ha) was already a feat accomplished by Dr. Zhu, but indoor and year round is something else entirely! Mankind has finally domesticated morels almost 2 centuries after the first try. Kudos and thank you for your contribution to Mycology!

I saw the Chinese growing them under a tent. They were doing very well. Morels are very popular in the States. It's the beginning of Morel hunting season. Everyone is excited.

Three years ago, I cut down old hardwood trees; ash and oak. I asked the tree guy to leave behind all wood chips. In addition, instead of raking leaves during the fall, I mulched them into powder and saved it. I added all of the above to trays of compost including, ash from my fireplace. In essence, every trick found on RUclips. Then, placed them on a rack in my basement where its cool yet warm as well whenever my boiler turn on. Sure enough, in early may, Morels grew. And every year abundantly more.

Farmed often tastes a bit flavorless, compared to the forest/naturally grown. But its a very good way to feed the people, we depend on such facilities, provided they pay attention to the environment. It helps the environment, our soil can recover. 1 meter of fertile soil takes 15,000 years to grow, we have almost completely destroyed it in 100 years.
Try blueberries from the forest and from the store. The difference is gygantic, also how the blueberry looks inside. The one from the forest has deep red - purple flesh, the ones from the store are white inside.

I wonder if a farmed morel that has never seen sunlight, never breathed the pollens of the forest and never experienced the composts of wild forests under specific trees and in specific biotopes will taste even remotely the same as the wild one who does. In the same way that farmed salmon in Costco is much lighter in color and tastes not as good as the wild Alaskan salmon! Or how farmed deer, found frozen in a block in Walmart tastes nothing like the wild deer. Just wondering...

No they don't. There are different types of morels, maybe that's why.

@@katelynhernandez7998 I like picking mushrooms also, but to me they look very similar to the ones i found in the wild. Just really big.
Aside from that, it's good that they are able to grow as many types of mushrooms as possible, morels are already expensive, the more you can cultivate the lower the price.
