    1. Loot isn't lost forever. Kill the unit that picked it up and it will be included with theirs.
    2. There is an AUTO EQUIP function. On the switch just press "X" while hovering an equipment slot and extra functions will display. I think they call it the context menu in the settings. Not sure what the corresponding key is on the PC/Steam version.

Separate saves is important. But for the biggest choices, the end of chapter ones that lead to the 3 paths, you use the WORLD system to go back and do other paths instead of old saves like in the original.

    Tips from the original
Always keep a bow as an extra weapon in most characters: even if there not great with a bow it's helpful to pile on damage to opponents at range.
Canopus: Axe & bow are good but a spear is great. Also don't forget Lans & Warren
Worth taking the time to keep your main units up to date, also afew alternate specialist.
Mages take some work at first but they are worth the effort
Not sure if they changed the training exploit. In the old game you could use AI commands to train up your units. It would take time but you could really focus on improving the way you wanted.

    • @wahahabuh
      @wahahabuh Год назад +1

I always do training with full AI. Not much point doing training manually since there's no risk.
The party level cap prevents you from overleveling as well as make it easier for new units to catch up to the experienced units.
I'm loving the level cap so far. The game becomes one where actual tactics is important instead of just bulldozing enemies with overwhelming stat advantage

Lots of comments on #5, worth clarifying that David still has a point:
If an enemy picks up a loot bag, it adds to their loot they drop, BUT...
If you don't kill that enemy before clearing the stage, then the loot is lost, ALSO...
That means the enemy who picked up the loot bag won't drop a stat card, which in many cases are better than the often common loot

I love every change in this version of the game…EXCEPT the level cap. The level cap often causes you to be around 2 levels below the enemies in all of the major fights, and it feels a bit unfairly stacked against you. Some of the bosses can basically one-shot you (especially bad if they have AOE spells or skills) near the end of chapter 3 and onward. I don’t mind the cap, but it should’ve been tweaked a bit. You should be able to go at least 1-2 levels above, not below.
A tip I would give is to have at least a few reserve units that are flexible so that you can have multiple knights, warlocks/witches, clerics, or dragoons in certain major battles. And DEFINITELY get a griffon or two and a dragon or two. It’s a life saver to have extra damage vs certain monster types (dragoons and warlocks), or extra healers…or extra heavy damage dealers/ damage sponges (knights/beasts/dragons)

what's hard with this game is that when you're new, you don't know what classes will learn later...so sometimes you change into something, think it's just bad and change into something else.

And if you use Canopus probably give him wind spells…just because of his passive that can reduce wind defense on nearby units.

It might be that they are a slight downgrade compared to how they worked in the psp version…considering that the level cap in this version causes you to typically be 1-2 levels below a lot of the opponents in the more difficult battles, and archers tend to have higher dexterity than strength. There’s also a bit of a rock-paper-scissor element going on…archers do piercing damage, and heavy armor/high defense units are better tackled with bludgeoning weapons. So it’s best to approach them with knights carrying hammers (at least this has been my experience.

Every battle is a challenge. The same team and tactics will not work in every battle. Having numerous classes to choose from is key. Also having them fully updated and equipped.
Beyond that, knowing your affinities and equipping spells to align with affinity is helpful.
Sometimes you will need to train 3 or 4 times before the main battle; just to bring up soldiers that were not required last battle, that would be required for the current one.
The game is difficult but worth the challenge. Its also takes a noticable turn toward easy after chapter 2 imo

Dynast-kings mead is an item purchasable at the shop that has a 100% chance to inflict "breach" which lowers an enemies defense. Using this became nearly required for me against all of the "boss" fights.
Sometimes enemy healers will prioritize curing status effects than healing outright. So using stuff like Poison can be beneficial to stopping them from healing the enemy your trying to focus down because they will waste a turn curing it.
Rune Fencer / Valkyrie is a good early game unit because they have meditate, and can use finisher attacks more often than other classes.
If using a Berserker, wait until Beserk (auto skill) activates then try to use Sanguine Strike (40 MP skill). These stack, and can do an insane amount of damage in a melee AOE.
Chapter 2 has a dungeon that allows you to farm for money, XP, items, and recruits. There also is a bug with the "Baldur Blowgun" that allows you to sell it for more than it costs to craft from scratch. If you are far enough along to craft these then I advise doing so to print that cash! (So you never have to run out of Dynast king meads. Drinks for everybody!)
Use scouting feature in the battle ready screen often. Knowing the enemy team comp can give good advice on what team to take with you. If there are a lot of beasts/dragons then a Dragoon can counter them well. If there is a lot of mages/casters then an extra archer, or someone with silence on can help majorly with disabling then. If there is a boss then a beast master with lobber can let you weaken the boss with Dynast-king mead without getting dangerously close. If there are a lot of undead then an extra Cleric can help so your able to balance heals with excorcisms. If the map has chokepoints, and few alternative paths then less slow melee fighters because they can get in each other's way or a well placed knight can make those chokepoints your advantage instead.
A slept, petrified, or charmed enemy is as good as a dead one until the status wears off. If you can land one of these on an enemy then ignore them to focus on someone else. Silence on a caster basically renders them useless as well.
Poison absolutely shreds. Some weapons also have a chance to proc it. A slightly weaker weapon with a "on hit" status effect is likely more beneficial than a slightly stronger countrrpart.
Don't be ashamed to use the Chariot system. The enemy team tends to have higher level, and more units so its only fair to be able to reverse time once in awhile. There is a title locked behind never using it, but that is arbitrary anyway.
Sorry for the long message! Its a great game that when it "clicks" it really clicks, but it definitely is much harder to get into from a newcomers perspective especially with the level caps and stuff that prevent grinding our way through content.

There are errors in point #1
You don’t take less damage from your own element, it’s neutral. You take less damage from the element your element is strong to.
Also “opposing element” is incorrect. Only light and dark oppose. The other 6 form an elemental wheel like the wheel from ff11.
I didn’t watch any further. Soon as I saw the errors I realised this video isn’t for me.

Really wish they didn’t remove the rogue class and replace random battles with those dumbed town training battles. They should’ve allowed you to go into world map battles if you want so you can get gear and money drops as well as recruit. Training battles are so boring and use the same maps over and over without the benefit of drops and recruiting. Such a head scratcher and it kinda kills the world map variety

As someone whose first game in the series is this one (as in I don't know if this is well known or not), starting in chapter 2 there's a dungeon-ish area that is repeatable and you can just go in there and farm for drops, money, recruits, etc. In fact if you ignore this area you won't really be able to craft a lot of the craftable items.

@@shadef3915 oh I know I play this game on PC with the one vision mod (the definitive version of this game) but getting rid of random battles means all those map tiles on the world map besides dungeons are now 1 and done and replaced with the same town map over and over with no threat of dying or recruiting/drops/money etc and with the same enemies. It’s definitely not an improvement

@@sharebear421 Disagree, like Shade said the dungeon maps are plenty for what you feel like you're missing. And getting rid of the world map wandering save scumming or major disruptions to navigating place to place (esp Ch 3 onward) is a huge live-saver. What do you have against Phorampa and the other dungeons? They're literally everything you said you wanted, so the complaining is weird tbh.

@@KLNDR idk im a random battle enjoyer just from playing ffta. Phorampa so far in ch3 only has the one tileset so even if the maps are different I get not being able to do random battles on maps with the city, volcano, indoor, etc tilesets or on those specific maps. Though for all I know the dungeons have varying tilesets later on since I still only really have phorampa for repeatable dungeons.
Maybe they could've made it a setting or something?

@@shadef3915 yeah keeping random battles off but giving the option to be able to go into a map and initiate a battle wouldve been best. I’m all about variety and training battles are just kinda the opposite of that while also having non of the normal battle mechanics

I did play both on the original Playstation and tactics ogre was way harder and more fun. The remake just made the game even better. The only way I will give any attention to ff tactics again is if they actually make it a challage
