    don't get why we need the antiparallel diodes when switches on the other side can change the current flow direction

    Hello, Great lecture! Thanks for sharing! I have a question regarding common ground. I'm rectifying 110VAC and then inverting it using 4 IGBT and 2 IR2101 MOSFET Drivers. I'm also using an Arduino Micro to control the frequency. Should I connect the ground of the rectified 110V to the ground of the Arduino and Drivers power source?

    Thank you professor for this excellent explanation of the power part. But how can we control the gates of IGBT or Mosfets with wired logic? My problem is that I don't know what is the reference potential to choose for this logic since we have to apply to the gate of each transistor a voltage of 5Volts or more. If we take as reference -Vdc it is easy to control the gates of the IGBTs connected to -Vc, but how to proceed for those connected to +Vc? Thank you in advance for a possible clarification.

    Insightful lecture Dr. Narayanan, Thanks. Looking forward for more practical implementation examples, for example, the waveform is always square in this circuit how do you get a sinusoidal waveform? Thanks a lot anyways.

      +Giridhar Raju N M He mentioned that in order to get a smoother curve with less ripples, the Pulse Width of the multiple notches should be varied that will result in a more sinusoidal kind of a waveform. Also, the voltage level can be modified using the same. This method is also more widely known as the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Technique. Hope this helps!

    Why capacitor is connected across the load?

    • @TonySingh7
      @TonySingh7 5 лет назад

      To reduce voltage ripples, a large cap will provide an almost constant voltage to the load which is preferred.

    From 46:23 it's totally nonsense 😂 I have never seen IGBT with diode in series instead of antiparallel.... Don't get offended.... I already working with 3 phase IGBT BASED BOOST RECTIFIERS AND INVERTERS , AND GOD KNOW WHEN WE WILL ABLE TO BRING TECHNOLOGY TO SOCIETY USING THIS TYPE OF TEACHING SCHEMES IN ENGINEERING COLLEGES

      This is current source inverter. You are saying it for voltage source inverter where the anti parallel diode is used.
