That’s one of the worst losses, when you lose a bestfriend. A few years ago my bestfriend ghosted me too and i was so upset about it I even had recurring dreams. I’ve learnt that time heals and you’ll find your people eventually. If someone doesn’t put the exact same effort in to see you then don’t bother with them. I learnt the hard way !
Ghosting is a form of emotional abuse. Hurt people… hurt people. It’s disappointing this happens and hard not to take it personally. Stay in your power and you’ll attract the people you deserve.
Sometimes ghosting is emotional abuse. And sometimes it's what someone does when they have made it clear that there's a p as hroblem and you continue to ignore it. There's nothing left to say, and even if you try to say it yet again, they will take it to mean that they are very important and that you are begging. Just walk away.
It’s really sad, but I too found that in the happiness milestones of my life (getting engaged, getting married and buying a house) that some of the closest people to me turned nasty. Big milestones reveal true friends. Stay strong Nicoletta 🙏🏼

Sounds like those people are jealous. My guess is that those are NOT true friends. I'm sorry you are going through this. But you are better off without them.
I think ghosting is a super toxic way of dealing with people…. Grow up and face issues head on, stop running away, be accountable for your part, be honest and own your truth! Sadly when it comes to friendships I think milestones play a big role in weeding out the fake ones from the real ones!

I had a childhood best friend of 15+ years ghost me 😪 I had so many recurring dreams centered around her and our friendship....it's such an emotional rollercoaster....I've been trying to make peace with it...it's been 5 years so far....I'm doing better now though
They are guilty of something they have done to you or have something to hide, trust me people don't ghost someone out of the blue they are always guilty of something be aware!
I had my friend of 20 years ghost me 2 years ago. It really fucked with me. I tried so hard to figure out what was going on and I hate that things ended the way they did. I wish I had an answer but I am coming to peace with the fact that I have to give myself closure and I can't keep waiting on it for someone else. It's getting less painful and I'm lucky I have other friends in my life.
People are so disgusting I swear. One thing is to end things the right way and the other is to do this. It really hurts the person and it’s sick to think that they know this and they rather let you suffer, than talk to you and be honest. 🤮
It's very sad to me when someone ghosts you & you know that you didn't do anything to them. If there is a problem then the friend should say something. Its very hurtful, but I have learned from my experience (it happened to me also a few times with one friend, and finally I said that's it) that if someone keeps going in & out of your life its not a frienship especially if there's no explanation. You have to move on & have faith that you'll find friends that treat you the way you treat them.
I feel like there are some situations where removing a person from your life is nessecary depending on the nature of your relationship or if having a conversation means being sucked back into manipulation however in many cases it is always the right thing to have a conversation. Even if it’s just a few shared words. It’s so simple to just say goodbye.

This happened to me as well! My best friend of 12+ years decided to ghost me as well and also during an exciting moment in my life. It went as far as me running into her at a baseball game & she blatantly ignored me as if she didn’t even know me, but paraded herself and tried to speak to my now husband. The sad thing is that I’m her daughters God mother & miss her so much. I blame it on jealousy of the rise of my life that was happening at the time.

I was just ghosted my my bestfriend of 15yr after I told her I had cancer, she screamed at me and said I gave it to myself, I didn't know what to cry about more the cancer or the loss of my who I thought was my bestfriend, I am starting to get over it as it is more important to heal from my surgery and move on realizing that was a really nasty response to my cancer and she is not a nice person or a good friend!
Same thing happened to me when the doctors felt I had cancer. My so called friend told me she would be more likely to get cancer. When I told her I didn’t feel she understood how scared I was, she actually hung up on me. I thought she would end up realizing what she did and call me back, but she never did. It did turn out I did have cancer. She told a mutual friend I was actually making up I had cancer. Really??? I don’t think so. This so called friend never ever did contact me & I saw on a people search website she died 20 years later. I don’t know how she died, but at this point I don’t care. It’s scary how I really thought she was my friend before she did this.
Same thing happened to be, i am pretty sure its because it was cervical cancer and their is this big stigma behind it. Mind you, i was married and got cheated on
I'm a 55 year old manly man and I've been very hurt by a female friend of 20 years. As a childless couple struggling with infertility issues for well over ten years my wife and I were always invited to my friends place for family functions, BBQ, Superbowl, etc. In fact, all of those invitations were a big distraction from all of the drama that we were going thru in our personal lives. Then we were finally blessed with a little boy and our friend was the first person to come over and see our baby and bring us food, etc. But all of the invites gradually dwindled, and it's very hurtful because we were friends with all of her extended family and I never would have dreamed that my son wouldn't be friends with her daughter and all of the other kids that are part of her family. It's actually quite bizarre how we were so welcomed as a childless couple and now that we actually have a family of our own we've been completely snubbed. If I was still a childless person I don't think it would hurt as bad but it feels like my son (now 5) is being snubbed, which is heart breaking.

not trying to be mean, but have you ever considered that maybe you might be part of the problem/pattern? i’m not saying that you are the problem, but is it possible that maybe your actions or attitude have contributed to the problem or loss of friendship? i don’t know you or why your friends dropped you, but since it is a pattern, maybe you should or could evaluate the common denominators to those issues. was it because they or you started a relationship, kids, health issues, work stress, etc?

My best friend of more than 20 years ghosted me right before my wedding last summer. She was supposed to be my maid of honor. I still haven't heard from her. It really hurts. Also, birth control pills did the same thing to me. I've never felt so helpless and in despair in my life. Once I stopped taking them to try a different birth control method I realized it was the pills that were making me feel that way. I almost felt robbed of years of my life feeling that way and as a result had a huge emotional breakdown/cathartic experience coming to terms with it. I wish more people would talk about this. To me it sounds like jealousy. And there might be a reason, but the point is, if you've known someone for so long you should at least tell them the reason why you no longer want to be friends with them.
@@hindwidad2723 sometimes people grow apart and don’t know what to say, so they just try to fade away. It can be confusing. I’ve been on both sides of that same coin. People come and people go.
Don't listen to the grow apart BS that people tell you, if a person ghosts you for no reason they either are hiding something or feel guilty for something they did and don't want you to find out be aware!
People who ghost are immature and cowards. The best thing to protect yourself from those people is to check if the relationship is one sided. Usually when a relationship is one sided, ghosting happens as a mean to end the relationship, because no emotional maturity and respect to the other person. It stinks to know that you have been in a one sided relationship, where the ghoster discards of the other person because the person is either too boring, too lame, has changed, or my favorite bullshit excuse "the other person hurts my vibe and I am too evolved".
I did consider cutting a friend out of my life. And there’s a reason. My “best” friend always calls me when she’s having relationship problems. But when I have problems, she takes days and weeks to answer. Worse off, she’s always complaining about guys ignoring her. Years ago there was one time we were hanging out and we decided to have dinner together. Her crush called her and asked if she’s free, to which she enthusiastically said yes. That memory really sticks. Im still upset and do think guys always come first and I’m always taken for granted.
I have one friend ghosting me right now, and it's killing me. I have been really good friends with her since we were 6 years old ( we are 32 now ) I haven't had ANY responds for A YEAR NOW !!! I'm so worried... she doesn't answer her e-mails or her text messages I tried writing to her with a different e-mail ( in case she blocked my other one ) ... still waiting for an answer. Wow. I guess this is a thing. Same thing happened to me. Two of my best friends rejected me right when I got married. One ghosted, the other demonized me & rejected me in a very painful way. Trying to build confidence to connect with new friends, but it’s hard, takes a long time to heal. I also gave more to both women, and the one that demonized me was emotionally unavailable at times, and would demand appreciation when she was giving. Hard lessons learned. A good time to raise standards for friends.
Thanks for posting this video. Going through this myself right now. Already over a year passed and I still struggle emotionally. I admit that I placed too much of my identity on to my ex best friend and that void after losing that is almost unbearable. Moving on from a best friend is like trying to cross a quick sand - you’ll fall into despair if you don’t keep moving on. But then again how could I have helped my ex friend if I can’t even help my self from the depths of suffering lol. I can only hope for an outcome where both sides are happy.

I had this happen to me about 6 months ago. The wound still feels very fresh. It sucks, and I'm trying to move on but I just want closure. Also Im trying to figure out how to forgive someone who hurt you so badly.
I have been Ghosted 3 times with out a reason. Tried to bring everything together and do things by the book. Ended up apologising for wrong I did not know of or commit for peace to rain. Nothing worked. Thank God at this time my Bible and Jesus Christ was my friend so I cried out to his unconditional love. And now I have peace staying with out friends. My husband is my friend although it's not the same but it's okay. I trust and love very fast and loyal.
My "best friend" and I used to go to the gym and practice martial arts. This year, I've lost almost 50lbs, and now he never wants to hit the gym with me. We're both taking a bjj class, and he never chooses to partner with me either. I've asked him about it, and he says he's worried about "exercise codependency." I've hit the gym 6 days a week alone all year. It's a lame excuse, so I've started fading him out of my life.
YOUR STORY EXPLAINS ME AND MY BEST FRIEND TOO. We were best friends for 3 years up until this most recent Nov. I left college to go home and ever since, I haven’t heard A WORD from her. I reached out the beginning of January, and similar to your story, she was weirdly nice to me but it felt fake and like small talk. And then she eventually left me on read and the convo didn’t last for more than a day. The worst part is we’re roommates and I’m going back college sometime soon 😭 it’s going to be super awkward. Seems like she's jealous of you. And couldn't bear to stay in your life anymore. But that is no excuse for treating you the way that she did. She's not a true friend. You're better off without her.
I just had the same experience happen to me… A friend I’ve known for 15 yrs that I thought was special.. Thise people aren’t worth it but I had blindly continued the friendship when I should have ended it yrs ago.. She never made the effort as I did for her.. I won’t ever ignore the signs like that again..😂
Girl that sound like a one-sided friendship. If she’s not happy for you during your happy, celebratory moments, she’s not genuine. I hope you still aren’t trying to contact her, she doesn’t deserve you as a friend.

Thank you for this. I have just had this happen to me in a very long friendship. It happened first a few years ago but we made up. She wouldn’t take any accountability for things she did, so I just relented for the sake of saving the friendship. Now its happened again, and all I’ve asked is for closure, but she wont even give me that. It feels as if I never knew her at all, when I thought we were so close. Its so heartbreaking. I have been through a lot of loss in my life so to have this happen is even harder. I feel for you with what you experienced, and it does seem like it may be jealousy for what you have accomplished. I just dont understand though why people can’t just be honest and real about things, especially when they can just send a text if they don’t want some confrontation, so at least you know why. Thats the thing that just confuses me so much. Like I have accepted my friend clearly does not wish to be friends any longer, but our last communication was normal, so how can I make sense of things and get closure. I had a friend do the same thing, except he doesn’t respond to any emails or texts or whatever… And I’ve been friends with him for 20 years However, like you, he did this to me twice before, it’s not exactly ghosting because he says he’s going to take a break, but then he ignores any of my attempts at contacting him and it’s just really unhealthy
Do yourself a favor and look into the 9 traits of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They go through cycles, they love bomb you, then devalue you then detach and this cycle can continue over and over. It's very confusing. 😕 The relationship is always one sided and it is exhausting. Take care.
I ghosted my best friend of twenty years because she was a narc. She belittled me daily, told her children and relatives that I was an idiot. She used me as an ATM machine, ten dollars, twenty dollars, money for gas, money for cigarettes constantly every day almost. She never, NEVER ever paid me back what she borrowed. Her bullying increased, asked me who I voted for then told me I was an idiot and people like me shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Morning noon and night phone calls, texts, so one day I stopped replying. And it’s been heaven.
@@MaaikeGirardin that’s way she called her a narc. Narc are oblivious to their behavior, and they don’t grow. The best thing to do is to walk away. Sometimes you gotta save yourself.
Ghosting a toxic person to save your emotional well-being and sanity is justified to me. It is just immature, cowardly, and selfish to ghost somebody who has been a supportive and good friend. Tell them you are done and why briefly, and then go no contact. Ghost the abusive and toxic ones, IMO.
You seem nice, maybe too nice you shouldnt ignore red flags, ive been through the same thing and going through it now. Its sad but you dont need jealous friends.

Obviously, she is still on social media. But just doesn't want anything to do with me. I have never done anything to make her angry. My best friend was my cousin, and she ghosted me and moved in with her boyfriend of a whole few days. She was one of my bridesmaids and I had moved up my wedding and never got a chance to tell her I moved it up because she would never respond to me or give me the time of day because her boyfriend was now the center of her life. I’m not saying I was perfect to her, but we ended up having a talk with her mom moderating, after I went off about what she did and how she made me feel after everything she just shrugged and said she forgot. We haven’t talked since then and that was 4 years ago. She didn’t check up with me once since being married or reach out to hang out. It was like I didn’t exist. Even after me and my sister paid for all her expenses to go on trips and things so she wouldn’t be left out if she couldn’t afford it. About a year after the talk I found out from my cousin and her sister that she had told our uncle that they should all steer clear of me and my sister because we are emotionally draining. I was hurt because I hadn’t heard anything from her in years other than offering to help her out with things and suddenly we are emotionally draining. It broke my heart and I felt disgusted. My uncle didn’t want his kids to hang out with us because of it and we just wanted to distance ourselves from the situation since we were all adults and thought it was dumb. Fast forward a couple more years, I was having reoccurring dreams of my cousin and my dad gave me a talk that I needed to let things go. I tried to reach out to my cousin and sent her a brief text asking if she was available, then a week later I tried again. Eventually I gave up and sent a text letting her know I was sorry, but found out she had blocked me so I emailed it to her instead… but I just really don’t understand why? Why she started making stuff up about me and my family when all we did was help her out and let her live with us and pay for her things. Now she has all of her sisters not talking to us and has her sister cut off me and my sister the past year out of nowhere and it’s incredibly sad. It sucks because unlike friends we can’t just avoid them, we have to see them at family things. And we can’t even talk to them we just have to pretend nothing happened to keep the peace and just be confused.
She ghosted me after I was putting a lot of effort bringing our group together. All they had to do was commit on a date. But no, she and my other friend always had to reason out whenever I plan a reunion. I messaged her, apologizing about my actions and realized I was being persistent and toxic. We stopped talking after that. I realized my self worth. That I was only doing my part as a friend and if they don't see it that way, then, I won't put anymore effort. The other friend that she's close with, still talks to me till this day. She tells me that we'll talk soon or just give her time, but I don't believe that BS. If she really wants to, she will. She ghosted me before and I accepted her when she came back but now, I don't even know. My family considered her as a family too, but now, I'll just move on and never know what she or my group of friends think of me. I'm just done. Now, I don't think I have any best friends lol.
Your hair looks great today. I can't stand people on social media who don't write anything when u type a message. They just press like 👍 or pass along chain mail or ask u to support a cause. Write something back! I had to drop a friend for that reason.
only thing i can think of for why she has done this, is that shes jealous. you must have something she wants, whether its money or a career or a lifestyle, your fiance... she must be jealous. no normal person would do that to someone unless their jealous. im so sorry you have to deal with this...but.....the trash took itself out.
They that ghost you are those that will tell you, " We are special " . This surprised me when I heard one woman say that to me. I said, " special ". WHAT ? Of course that really meant that she is special. I don't think so.
I just recently lost a good friend of mine through a fight that was both of our faults. I unintentionally hurt her over a guy and profusely apologized, and she repeatedly treated me like shit and admitted to it. She refused to acknowledge or even respond to my apologies or regular conversations and I finally gave up trying to make her feel better because all she was doing was hurting me on purpose.
Same. I had an extremely close friend of nearly ten years ghost me. Same progression of a friend group split. His family shut down too. I have zero ideas as to why. I was worried, sad, angry, hopeful, in disbelief, and confused. I still don't know why. Blamed myself for years. Still working on letting it go. It took years to understand that it was something he decided. I don't need to know why.

Thank you so much for your story. I am much older than you, but my best friend of 45 years has just done this to me. Like you, I don't know what I did wrong and it's very perplexing. I won't contact her either, because I have been consistently kind and generous with her. If this is who she really is, this ghosting shell of a human being, then I'd rather see it end. ( But it hurts).
It sounds like she was envious of you and your successes. Maybe she did say things in the past and meant them but because she didn't have the same successes in her life as you did she felt envious of you when the time came instead of happiness and excitement and felt the need to remove you from her life to remove the feeling of envy, harming you in the process. It definitely has nothing to do with you but with herself and her self esteem.
My best friend ghosted me too and it was so hard for me. I kept texting her and she never responded. I have never felt hurt in my life and everytime I message her and never responded to me. She saw my story on Snapchat and she blocked me. I had to tell my mom. My best friend said that she will always be there for me but the reason why she blocked is because she has a big test on Monday and she also blocked other people. Idk if I trust that and I feel like she will never talk to me again.

It totally, totally sucks and is so painful. So sorry to hear. I’m in my mid 50’s and it happened to me last fall. Some people are just extremely immature and cowardly. Time passing helps, I know it’s fresh pain now.

That's a crazy story. Perhaps enviousness and insecurity on her part could be a factor of her distancing. Or maybe she misunderstood something that may have happened in your relationship? Girl, I thought I was the only one. The cut off on social media was the same that happened to me; IG, Snapchat, Pinterest. The only social media she didn’t cut me off from was Facebook; Well I did her the favor. I know in the past she has had a tendency to go on people’s fb to see how they are doing or just to be nosy.(including her ex boyfriend she’d used my fb to see how he is doing; I was friends with her ex) If you are going to cut me off on social media, then by all means go all the way. Don’t leave one open just so you can snoop when you feel like it and not reach out. If people can be friends with you for so long, how can they just ghost other people like that without even having the respect to tell them to their faces that they no longer want to be friends?
Sorry to hear that 😞 I had a friend I've known for about 5 yrs I worked with her then before I quit and moved onto a new job she said we can always grab a coffee I said I was always free on the weekends since I'm off, she rarely messages me and she has time to go out with 2 other co workers but not me now she doesn't answer me back at all just reads the messages and doesn't respond its hurtful 😔
my friend (?) is gosthing me for a week, I know she's busy with other friends and her job and stuff but you know... it's been 7 days... we didn't fight and actually we were talking normally. It's not the first time she does this, but the other times didn't last that much, maybe one day, nothing more. I don't know.
I think some people feel like HS or childhood friends are their past and feel like they want to move on. I didn't realize this until years later when I experiened it, that it's nothing person you just feel stuck in the past for some reason. Someone did this to me and I was hurt for years. But then later when the roles were reversed and I wanted to move on from someone and didn't know how to tell them because it's super awkward. You can't really have a conversation about it.

I've been ghosted a lot of times by people i thought were my friends... I did things nobody would for them and they just left me when i was going through my lowest ... Now that i am married it got worse 😅
Im similar to Lisa. Had a friend like Nicoletta, who was such an amazing friend. Included me in everything in her life. I was so grateful for her. Then things changed and we became less and less in contact, till now I can see that we exchange messages on big dates like birthdays. It is what it is.

I was just dropped by two extremely close friends (one blocked me, one just ghosted). We had a fight, but it was over a misunderstanding. It seemed like they wanted a reason to drop me, like people know just ghosting is frowned upon so they have to whip up some sort of excuse. They wouldn't even talk to me in person. I keep trying to look back and see if they were just angry, unforgiving people. I guess they were. It's so hard to also lose the idea of someone as a good person. And I guess I feel like I should know better at my age. It's just been awful.
People can be such buttholes. Honestly. It never ceases to amaze me. If she has an issue with you, she needs to be a grown up and be honest and let you know what her deal is. It is juvenile to ghost. This is lack of values. You need to spend no further energy on this person. She is unhealthy. You are better off. Be glad this happened before your wedding. A stumble prevents a fall. You may have dodged the bullet of her doing something close to your wedding day to upset you.

That’s one of the worst losses, when you lose a bestfriend. A few years ago my bestfriend ghosted me too and i was so upset about it I even had recurring dreams. I’ve learnt that time heals and you’ll find your people eventually. If someone doesn’t put the exact same effort in to see you then don’t bother with them. I learnt the hard way !
Easier said, over thirty years of a relationship throughout thick and thin for years, no clear reason, it has been four years. I feel so sad.😢

I had my friend of 20 years ghost me 2 years ago. It really fucked with me. I tried so hard to figure out what was going on and I hate that things ended the way they did. I wish I had an answer but I am coming to peace with the fact that I have to give myself closure and I can't keep waiting on it for someone else. It's very sad to me when someone ghosts you & you know that you didn't do anything to them. If there is a problem then the friend should say something. Its very hurtful, but I have learned from my experience (it happened to me also a few times with one friend, and finally I said that's it) that if someone keeps going in & out of your life its not a frienship especially if there's no explanation. You have to move on & have faith that you'll find friends that treat you the way you treat them.
I feel like there are some situations where removing a person from your life is nessecary depending on the nature of your relationship or if having a conversation means being sucked back into manipulation however in many cases it is always the right thing to have a conversation. Even if it’s just a few shared words. It’s so simple to just say goodbye.

This happened to me as well! My best friend of 12+ years decided to ghost me as well and also during an exciting moment in my life. It went as far as me running into her at a baseball game & she blatantly ignored me as if she didn’t even know me, but paraded herself and tried to speak to my now husband. The sad thing is that I’m her daughters God mother & miss her so much. I blame it on jealousy of the rise of my life that was happening at the time.

Same thing happened to me when the doctors felt I had cancer. My so called friend told me she would be more likely to get cancer. When I told her I didn’t feel she understood how scared I was, she actually hung up on me. I thought she would end up realizing what she did and call me back, but she never did. It did turn out I did have cancer. She told a mutual friend I was actually making up I had cancer. Really??? I don’t think so. This so called friend never ever did contact me & I saw on a people search website she died 20 years later. I don’t know how she died, but at this point I don’t care. It’s scary how I really thought she was my friend before she did this.

I'm a 55 year old manly man and I've been very hurt by a female friend of 20 years. As a childless couple struggling with infertility issues for well over ten years my wife and I were always invited to my friends place for family functions, BBQ, Superbowl, etc. In fact, all of those invitations were a big distraction from all of the drama that we were going thru in our personal lives. Then we were finally blessed with a little boy and our friend was the first person to come over and see our baby and bring us food, etc. But all of the invites gradually dwindled, and it's very hurtful because we were friends with all of her extended family and I never would have dreamed that my son wouldn't be friends with her daughter and all of the other kids that are part of her family. It's actually quite bizarre how we were so welcomed as a childless couple and now that we actually have a family of our own we've been completely snubbed. If I was still a childless person I don't think it would hurt as bad but it feels like my son (now 5) is being snubbed, which is heart breaking.
The same thing happened to me 4 times by the same person that I've known ever since we were kids in 1993. It makes you not trust people after that.

not trying to be mean, but have you ever considered that maybe you might be part of the problem/pattern? i’m not saying that you are the problem, but is it possible that maybe your actions or attitude have contributed to the problem or loss of friendship? i don’t know you or why your friends dropped you, but since it is a pattern, maybe you should or could evaluate the common denominators to those issues. was it because they or you started a relationship, kids, health issues, work stress, etc?

My best friend of more than 20 years ghosted me right before my wedding last summer. She was supposed to be my maid of honor. I still haven't heard from her. It really hurts.
Also, birth control pills did the same thing to me. I've never felt so helpless and in despair in my life. Once I stopped taking them to try a different birth control method I realized it was the pills that were making me feel that way. I almost felt robbed of years of my life feeling that way and as a result had a huge emotional breakdown/cathartic experience coming to terms with it. I wish more people would talk about this. People never cut someone off for no reason, there's always one they may not be honest about it but there is one or more.
To me it sounds like jealousy. And there might be a reason, but the point is, if you've known someone for so long you should at least tell them the reason why you no longer want to be friends with them.

The best thing to protect yourself from those people is to check if the relationship is one sided. Usually when a relationship is one sided, ghosting happens as a mean to end the relationship, because no emotional maturity and respect to the other person. It stinks to know that you have been in a one sided relationship, where the ghoster discards of the other person because the person is either too boring, too lame, has changed, or my favorite bullshit excuse "the other person hurts my vibe and I am too evolved".
I did consider cutting a friend out of my life. And there’s a reason.
My “best” friend always calls me when she’s having relationship problems. But when I have problems, she takes days and weeks to answer.
Worse off, she’s always complaining about guys ignoring her. Years ago there was one time we were hanging out and we decided to have dinner together. Her crush called her and asked if she’s free, to which she enthusiastically said yes. That memory really sticks.
Im still upset and do think guys always come first and I’m always taken for granted.

Wow. I guess this is a thing. Same thing happened to me. Two of my best friends rejected me right when I got married. One ghosted, the other demonized me & rejected me in a very painful way. Trying to build confidence to connect with new friends, but it’s hard, takes a long time to heal. I also gave more to both women, and the one that demonized me was emotionally unavailable at times, and would demand appreciation when she was giving. Hard lessons learned. A good time to raise standards for friends.
This is exactly what I’m going through. One friends been ghosting me and other demonized me and rejected me uninvited me to her birthday.

Thanks for posting this video. Going through this myself right now. Already over a year passed and I still struggle emotionally. I admit that I placed too much of my identity on to my ex best friend and that void after losing that is almost unbearable. Moving on from a best friend is like trying to cross a quick sand - you’ll fall into despair if you don’t keep moving on. I had this happen to me about 6 months ago. The wound still feels very fresh. It sucks, and I'm trying to move on but I just want closure. Also Im trying to figure out how to forgive someone who hurt you so badly.

My "best friend" and I used to go to the gym and practice martial arts. This year, I've lost almost 50lbs, and now he never wants to hit the gym with me. We're both taking a bjj class, and he never chooses to partner with me either. I've asked him about it, and he says he's worried about "exercise codependency." I've hit the gym 6 days a week alone all year. It's a lame excuse, so I've started fading him out of my life.
YOUR STORY EXPLAINS ME AND MY BEST FRIEND TOO. We were best friends for 3 years up until this most recent Nov. I left college to go home and ever since, I haven’t heard A WORD from her. I reached out the beginning of January, and similar to your story, she was weirdly nice to me but it felt fake and like small talk. And then she eventually left me on read and the convo didn’t last for more than a day. The worst part is we’re roommates and I’m going back college sometime soon 😭 it’s going to be super awkward. Thank you for this. I have just had this happen to me in a very long friendship. It happened first a few years ago but we made up. She wouldn’t take any accountability for things she did, so I just relented for the sake of saving the friendship. Now its happened again, and all I’ve asked is for closure, but she wont even give me that. It feels as if I never knew her at all, when I thought we were so close. Its so heartbreaking. I have been through a lot of loss in my life so to have this happen is even harder.
I feel for you with what you experienced, and it does seem like it may be jealousy for what you have accomplished. I just dont understand though why people can’t just be honest and real about things, especially when they can just send a text if they don’t want some confrontation, so at least you know why. Thats the thing that just confuses me so much. Like I have accepted my friend clearly does not wish to be friends any longer, but our last communication was normal, so how can I make sense of things and get closure.

Do yourself a favor and look into the 9 traits of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. They go through cycles, they love bomb you, then devalue you then detach and this cycle can continue over and over. It's very confusing. 😕 The relationship is always one sided and it is exhausting. Take care.

I ghosted my best friend of twenty years because she was a narc. She belittled me daily, told her children and relatives that I was an idiot. She used me as an ATM machine, ten dollars, twenty dollars, money for gas, money for cigarettes constantly every day almost. She never, NEVER ever paid me back what she borrowed. Her bullying increased, asked me who I voted for then told me I was an idiot and people like me shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Morning noon and night phone calls, texts, so one day I stopped replying. And it’s been heaven.

Claiming some lame excuse that didn't even make sense. I also ignored the red flags and the looks of jealousy. Until it finally happened to us once again recently. Just disappeared with no excuse. Like you, I just wanted her as my best friend for life. we shared so many happy times. Only to find out she has no problem ghosting me. No explanation nothing. Obviously, she is still on social media. But just doesn't want anything to do with me. I have never done anything to make her angry. My best friend was my cousin, and she ghosted me and moved in with her boyfriend of a whole few days. She was one of my bridesmaids and I had moved up my wedding and never got a chance to tell her I moved it up because she would never respond to me or give me the time of day because her boyfriend was now the center of her life. I’m not saying I was perfect to her, but we ended up having a talk with her mom moderating, after I went off about what she did and how she made me feel after everything she just shrugged and said she forgot. We haven’t talked since then and that was 4 years ago. She didn’t check up with me once since being married or reach out to hang out. It was like I didn’t exist. Even after me and my sister paid for all her expenses to go on trips and things so she wouldn’t be left out if she couldn’t afford it. About a year after the talk I found out from my cousin and her sister that she had told our uncle that they should all steer clear of me and my sister because we are emotionally draining. I was hurt because I hadn’t heard anything from her in years other than offering to help her out with things and suddenly we are emotionally draining. It broke my heart and I felt disgusted. My uncle didn’t want his kids to hang out with us because of it and we just wanted to distance ourselves from the situation since we were all adults and thought it was dumb. Fast forward a couple more years, I was having reoccurring dreams of my cousin and my dad gave me a talk that I needed to let things go. I tried to reach out to my cousin and sent her a brief text asking if she was available, then a week later I tried again. Eventually I gave up and sent a text letting her know I was sorry, but found out she had blocked me so I emailed it to her instead… but I just really don’t understand why? Why she started making stuff up about me and my family when all we did was help her out and let her live with us and pay for her things. Now she has all of her sisters not talking to us and has her sister cut off me and my sister the past year out of nowhere and it’s incredibly sad. It sucks because unlike friends we can’t just avoid them, we have to see them at family things. And we can’t even talk to them we just have to pretend nothing happened to keep the peace and just be confused.

She ghosted me after I was putting a lot of effort bringing our group together. All they had to do was commit on a date. But no, she and my other friend always had to reason out whenever I plan a reunion. I messaged her, apologizing about my actions and realized I was being persistent and toxic. We stopped talking after that. I realized my self worth. That I was only doing my part as a friend and if they don't see it that way, then, I won't put anymore effort. The other friend that she's close with, still talks to me till this day. She tells me that we'll talk soon or just give her time, but I don't believe that BS. If she really wants to, she will. She ghosted me before and I accepted her when she came back but now, I don't even know. They that ghost you are those that will tell you, " We are special " . This surprised me when I heard one woman say that to me. I said, " special ". WHAT ? Of course that really meant that she is special. I don't think so.
I just recently lost a good friend of mine through a fight that was both of our faults. I unintentionally hurt her over a guy and profusely apologized, and she repeatedly treated me like shit and admitted to it. She refused to acknowledge or even respond to my apologies or regular conversations and I finally gave up trying to make her feel better because all she was doing was hurting me on purpose.

Same. I had an extremely close friend of nearly ten years ghost me. Same progression of a friend group split. His family shut down too. I have zero ideas as to why. I was worried, sad, angry, hopeful, in disbelief, and confused. I still don't know why. Blamed myself for years. Still working on letting it go. It took years to understand that it was something he decided. I don't need to know why.

Thank you so much for your story. I am much older than you, but my best friend of 45 years has just done this to me. Like you, I don't know what I did wrong and it's very perplexing. I won't contact her either, because I have been consistently kind and generous with her. If this is who she really is, this ghosting shell of a human being, then I'd rather see it end. Maybe she did say things in the past and meant them but because she didn't have the same successes in her life as you did she felt envious of you when the time came instead of happiness and excitement and felt the need to remove you from her life to remove the feeling of envy, harming you in the process. It definitely has nothing to do with you but with herself and her self esteem.

My best friend ghosted me too and it was so hard for me. I kept texting her and she never responded. I have never felt hurt in my life and everytime I message her and never responded to me. She saw my story on Snapchat and she blocked me. I had to tell my mom. My best friend said that she will always be there for me but the reason why she blocked is because she has a big test on Monday and she also blocked other people. Idk if I trust that and I feel like she will never talk to me again.

Its sad. Worst than a breakup. Im going through it except I don’t want to ghost two of my friends of 11years but it seems like I might have to because they don’t listen to me. They haven’t been around at all, when I need them the most and it doesn’t make sense because I’ve always been there for them. Plus they say we’re friends but they no longer include me in on things. That's a crazy story. Perhaps enviousness and insecurity on her part could be a factor of her distancing. Or maybe she misunderstood something that may have happened in your relationship? The cut off on social media was the same that happened to me; IG, Snapchat, Pinterest. The only social media she didn’t cut me off from was Facebook; Well I did her the favor. I know in the past she has had a tendency to go on people’s fb to see how they are doing or just to be nosy.(including her ex boyfriend she’d used my fb to see how he is doing; I was friends with her ex) If you are going to cut me off on social media, then by all means go all the way. Don’t leave one open just so you can snoop when you feel like it and not reach out.
If people can be friends with you for so long, how can they just ghost other people like that without even having the respect to tell them to their faces that they no longer want to be friends?
Sorry to hear that 😞 I had a friend I've known for about 5 yrs I worked with her then before I quit and moved onto a new job she said we can always grab a coffee I said I was always free on the weekends since I'm off, she rarely messages me and she has time to go out with 2 other co workers but not me now she doesn't answer me back at all just reads the messages and doesn't respond its hurtful 😔

my friend (?) is gosthing me for a week, I know she's busy with other friends and her job and stuff but you know... it's been 7 days... we didn't fight and actually we were talking normally. It's not the first time she does this, but the other times didn't last that much, maybe one day, nothing more. I don't know.
I think some people feel like HS or childhood friends are their past and feel like they want to move on. I didn't realize this until years later when I experiened it, that it's nothing person you just feel stuck in the past for some reason. Someone did this to me and I was hurt for years. But then later when the roles were reversed and I wanted to move on from someone and didn't know how to tell them because it's super awkward. You can't really have a conversation about it.

I've been ghosted a lot of times by people i thought were my friends... I did things nobody would for them and they just left me when i was going through my lowest ... Now that i am married it got worse 😅

I was just dropped by two extremely close friends (one blocked me, one just ghosted). We had a fight, but it was over a misunderstanding. It seemed like they wanted a reason to drop me, like people know just ghosting is frowned upon so they have to whip up some sort of excuse. They wouldn't even talk to me in person. I keep trying to look back and see if they were just angry, unforgiving people. I guess they were. It's so hard to also lose the idea of someone as a good person. And I guess I feel like I should know better at my age. It's just been awful.
People can be such buttholes. Honestly. It never ceases to amaze me. If she has an issue with you, she needs to be a grown up and be honest and let you know what her deal is. It is juvenile to ghost. This is lack of values. You need to spend no further energy on this person. She is unhealthy. You are better off. Be glad this happened before your wedding. A stumble prevents a fall.
