This place, Paradigm City, is a town of forgetfulness. Kids these days, they don't appreciate smooth jazz. Just a few lonely comments on this video. The only ones who regret the loss of this music are the city's elderly. But memories, like appreciation of weeb jazz, sometimes comes when you least expect it.
2023 and still one of those shows I'm obsessed with and keep rewatching... each time I find a detail I haven't noticed or an interpretation path I didn't go on. They don't make such animes anymore.
How is there only one comment? This is one of the most emotive and capturing arrangements in anime and music. I love it. Since the first time i heard it 15 years ago. World-class composing that serves the source material and exudes atmosphere and nostalgia.
We have choices, some people like to stand in the rain without an umbrella. That's what it means to live. Tonight, I think I'll live on Houston St. for a while.
Maybe. Maybe. But look at the silver Lining of Paradigm City's legacy: Has any studio come along to screw it up like they did to Death Note? Star Wars? No. And that's why we love it so much. Nothing fooling around with us or tarting it up with any Narratives or pro-this-or-that messaging. It's made in the same way some of us like to drink our tea. .... Black.
I respectfully disagree. I think that it ended perfectly. When I was younger, on my first watch, having to see new episodes once a week, I was enraged. But having rewatched multiple times, the ending was perfection. Whatever came next couldn’t be as good as each person’s interpretation of the perfect story. So we’re left with just that: the certainty that the author has confronted her demons and depression, come to terms with the fact that she’d been falling in love with the character she wrote, and committed to finishing the story. The characters are ready. They’re so well-developed that they write themselves. The anime ended perfectly, and I don’t say that to be hyperbolic. I still hold up Big O as the greatest anime ever made.
@@jimvenanzio6561 I mean it had narratives and messaging, it's impossible to have a piece of media without it's message, as that is where all media stems; lonely mankind reaching out to itself, and sharing in an idea. It explored a lot of the self, the horrors of war, of free will and of our nature as people and community, all of it for us to digest and accept or deny as our want, but it doesn't change the fact it's there. I'd argue some of you even resonated with that message, even if you didn't fully acknowledge it, consciously or otherwise. Big O had a lot to say, past it's stunning visuals, climatic robot fights, lovely OST, and absolute slow-roasted pulp aesthetic. I'd argue more that more the reason a remake is unreasonable; the heart is on it's sleeve. The messages is there. It's up to us to "come to terms" with that.
@@jimvenanzio6561 I feel that it ended quite poetically. We start the show with no one able to quite make sense of the past and why they're there. And in the end, answers were revealed that we couldn't quite make sense of ourselves.

Glad you like it! Should be in something like Blade Runner. But the Big O is very nicely animated and this song perfectly captures the color palette and environment it is set in.
My name is Roger Smith. I perform a much-needed job here in this city of amnesia...

Beautiful combination, between the dialogues and narrations, blended with this music. There was no better time than Watching Toonami in the late 90s.
“Paradigm City, the city of amnesia” Roger Smith😎
Perfect for a rainy day.

Going to watch the anime now, with a show with this banger of a song it has to be a good show.
I'm convinced Weeb Jazz is the best
OMG THIS MAKES ME CRY, NOSTALGIA IS BEYOND THIS WORLD...EARLY 2000s...please come back..
this was such an under-rated anime...

Fuck anime
I agree.
FACTS
It is 10/10 amazing, but I hate the busy city/new york sax atmosphere
We were to busy enjoying it.

The fact they made 3 different versions of this song shows just how good it is
And all three of them are great
THANK YOU

Sorrowful, Deep, sincere, Coming to terms...
Just make sure..its the right ones.
I miss 2003 era of Adult Swim.
You hit it right on the head.
Unfortunately it went downhill fast after super milk Chan and shin chan came into the scene
Someone make this an hour long and add some rain sounds and I don't think I'll ever wake up.
That’s actually a really good idea 😮🌧️😴🎷🎶

This is the kind of jazz just right listen to when your driving home in the middle of the night after a hard shift at work.
Yes, in complete solitude, looking out the window at all the cars passing by as the rain hits the glass and you put out the last of a cigarette

Such great music for a great show , doesn't get enough credit
I TOTALLY AGREE!
One of the greatest anime music ever created.
It's so good that I almost lost my memories!!!
Hurt in confusion
This is exactly what I need to cruise or fall asleep to, thank you!
God I loved this show growing up. There's not much else need be said but I'm glad to see others appreciate it as much as I do.
I'm so lost and alone. In a forgetful city, no one knows who you are... We're just shadows, trying to remember how to dance~
I’ve never seen this show and don’t even know what it is? But this music 👌😩
The anime is called "The Big O". I highly recommend it!

Think Batman meets Mecha and you have Big O.
Welp now i am learning to play to saxophone, thanks youtube for making life hard 😂
Jazz needs to make a come back man!
Great tunes like this one always fall thru the cracks into another universe to never be found again.
Great melodies always are unappreciated. ☹️😔

It's 2024...and I'm STILL wondering why the ost is on spotify, but this song specifically is NOT on it.
It sorta looks like the robot from contra
Someone really needs to mix this song with Halo 3 OSDT. Both would just fit together perfectly.
That playlist would hit harder than any drug
