I play this song every time on the last night of work before I go home for my day off. On the way home in the late hours of the night where there’s barely any traffic and everyone is asleep in bed, it sets the mood just right. Calming and relaxing, it helps me to unwind honestly. I especially play it on rainy nights, my buddy on the other hand who I showed this song prefers the version of this song without the sax. Either way it’s an amazing song all around
It had been a hell of a week already. I had nearly reached my limit. Big Sal down on 15th street had seen fit to cancel our little arrangement after the last job went as sour as bad milk. I swung into Calhoun's just looking for a glass of bourbon and a few minutes respite. And that's when SHE walked in.
Every single time I play this its almost indescribable...the sorrowful beauty and mystery just blends together so closely that the world we live in which is grey has so much more depth..almost like soul mates they come together to do so much more than either could do alone..draws breath from my lungs and causes my bones to shudder..just..Damn..
CarrionSmile Your last comment had it right. I'm here in 2021 and this still one the best anime OST's of all time. "Cast in the name of God. Ye Not Guilty"
Too many things that don't add up, too many scattered puzzle pieces. Too much to drink, too dark outside to see what I'm really looking at. I've got the sour feeling that this is going to be another case...that's never closed.
I keep two magnums in my desk. One's a gun, and I keep it loaded. The other's a bottle and it keeps *me* loaded. I'm Tracer Bullet. I'm a professional snoop.
This song makes me want to open up my own private detective agency and dress up like a classic 1950s noir gumshoe and pick up smoking just so I can look out the window with a half smoked cigarette and a glass full of burbon in my hand, while I stare out of the window on a rainy night in New York City. XD
I played this song for my girlfriend when we first started dating four years ago. We've been together ever since. It hasn't lost any of its romance or charm since then, either. Just like the series it's from.
i spent all of yesterday trying to remember where i had heard this, its a song my brain thinks everytime i think of noir detectives and i always remembered saxaphone, yesterday i find the tune but its on a piano and i think ive had a case of mandela effect but finally i was proven right
it's late, but just look up the entire discography of the Lupin the 3rd franchise. That franchise's soundtrack comprises mostly of Jazz, and almost every Jazz sub-genre, from bossa nova jazz to noir jazz
Mecha animes with weak and/or ambiguous endings is an annoying occurrence. Another mecha anime with an unsatisfactory ending that comes to mind is Evangelion. I don't know why the authors tend to struggle writing the endings.
This reminds me a lot of John Coltrane. I listening to this when taking the bus into the city every morning and see the skyline in the distance. Put me in the mood for work
I'd like to say how amazing this song is and how much I love it, but I'm afraid that would be completely unoriginal, as it seems we're all in agreement. Eh, I'll just say that it's an incredible song anyway...
Big O was such a cool series; I loved the music and the whole vibe of it all. I was sad that it left the ending up in the air though. All those mechs heading towards the city and you don't know if Roger or anyone else will survive. Plus I don't remember, ironically, if we ever figured out why everyone had amnesia.
From what I recall, the old man (can’t remember his name) recreated the entire city and everyone in it from memory after everyone died from a catastrophic battle. And every year the cycle repeats it self. Everything is destroyed and born anew. Everyone in town has no memory of the event that killed them all except the old man.
@@dontcare89154 Is that what the ending of the second season meant because I was completely baffled by it. The world turning wireframe then the cut to Angel sitting at a screen and then Roger and Dorothy burst into the room and then everything resets? Yeah, I was lost.
I'm almost positive it isn't, the notes played on an alto start to beome shrill and don't have as deep of a tone. It could be my reeds that I use but that's what I've noticed.
Having mental images of a dimly lit room with the faint smell of cigarettes and a man in suit without his jacket looking out his Venetian blinds at the city during the rain as a beautiful mysterious woman with a troubled look in her face walks in.
Well, it's kind of hard to fit a saxophone in a modern anime, since it has to either be in a very specific setting and/or place/vibe, like the Big O, or it has to be bizarre and you wont expect it, like JoJo
That wake me up in morning when i was 7, bird chipping, t.v. was on mom and dad getting dress for work. Cousins just run to bathroom to wash up... Cousin: come on wannie get up. Mom: wannie? Hows the fish? 7 year old me: she pass... Then i wipe my tears cause it was burning
After being alive for 31 years this is still the best piece of jazz I’ve ever heard. I’ll see you in ten years.
This randomly popped in my head just now. This is iconic to anyone who grew up watching Toonami/Adult Swin.
"My name is Roger Smith... I perform a much needed task here in the city of amnesia."
After a long day at work, listening to this on the drive home is the peak of satisfaction.
Roger watching Dorothy play piano and smoking a cigarette looking down. 👌🏿 this the smoothest jazz.
The best anime has music that stays with you forever.
Absolutely agreed -- I find myself humming tracks from Big O's OST all the damn time, haha.

A classic. Anime really holds a special place in my heart. A big part of my childhood when life was much more simpler. Such a beautiful piece of music
This is the song that made me like jazz.
if this can't .. nothing will ;)
I watched this series years ago and for the life of me.....this song had always stayed in my head! So noir and city night sky. Just beautiful.
One of the best animes ever. Grew up watching this on Toonami and on Adult Swim and still watch it today.
This brings back memories of watching this awesome show on Toonami. More fitting for me now, since I live in Houston. #HTX
Houston Street is a street in NYC which is where the anime takes place. It’s not to far from ground zero where 9/11 happened
@@studio2898There's a scene in Big O where a massive robot with two Twin Planes for arms nearly crashes into a huge skyscraper
still gives me goosebumps to this day..the anime was one of a kind, made me question all of reality around me..
This song made me start monologuing about a case I took from a dame I met in a bar.
FrenchDipp Preach it brotha.

I love listening to this song when it rains
14 years it took me to know the name of this song. So much nostalgia
Combine this with Rainy Mood, and I just get lost in all thought and feel myself slip away. It's great.
It's almost as if the sadness of reality would crush him if he could remember 40 years ago..
Love this song
Well, the music remembers.... that much is apparent.
The only thing wrong with this song is that it's too short.
EXACTLY!!
Late 90s/Early 2000s Japanese cartoons that played on Cartoon Network were great.

I'm watching The Big O, again, and I'm glad I was able to find this music online. Thank you so much.
Gets me right in the feels. T-T
Instantly started crying so many vibes. Brings me back.
Holy shit, how is one song able to look through my soul so completely?
The anime is based on the famous quote that all the world is a stage
For years I've been looking for this song, Shazam didn't even know 😭
I'm glad you found it "just like nightmares, memories can appear when you least expect them"

I wish a lot of bars had this music.
