I was considering a Revel, but I love the much more spacious layout and warm interior of the Trevato. It also seems to have all wheel or 4 wheel drive capability, so I could just put a lift suspension on it to raise it up for tougher terrain if I wanted.
I was also prepared to be envious of the new model. I just bought a new 2020 59GL last summer. While I like the kitchen sink, gravity drain shower (no separate pump and filter), and the display cluster, losing the nice big table and the puzzle bed are deal breakers for me. My wife's sleeps in the puzzle bed with an extra foam cushion. The big table is great to work on and you can fit 5 people around it. And, having to leave the door open to be hooked up is a horrible idea. Marcus did a nice review but I was waiting for him to come back to the table.
been trying to talk my wife into the 59gl. My main selling point was the dinette/bed!! Guess I can scratch this one off now. Dadgummit Winnebago!! Whose bright idea was that!
I agreed with the “why do something that keeps us having to open the back door to put water in the tank.” Then I realized that we live off the tank and not the hose. Given it’s a B class and that limits the fact one door will have to be opened to even get in and out. While I was winterizing my GL, I realized how nice it would be to have all the “by passes” in one location. Right now I have to get under the bench seat to bypass the water heater, then the two near the floor at the slider door. I would rather see them replace the slide door that loses all the heat or cold air. I know that’s probably not happening so I’ll take the single location for water and winterizing. LOL!
@@MusicOfMelodyK so true! We actually did have that happen more than once. And at another place, we left the water to the vehicle on, low, but it still broke and leaked. The park management turned the water off and left us a kind note, but still an embarrassment. The more we look at the 2022, the more we love it. More cells in the Lithium, a new space up front where the water tank, then the inverters were, the single spot of water works, and the “pump-less” shower drain make it a dream machine “B”! The lighter bed is a bonus!
Thanks for the review. Would you please touch on a few points that I don’t recall you mentioning. Do the front seats turn around into the living quarters? Stats regarding mpg, gas or diesel, engine size, solar equipped? Is the fridge dual functional ie propane & electric and does it have a freezer section? Size of fresh water holding tank as well as black & grey tanks? Overall cost for unit with these items included? 🤷🏻♀️
I’ll try a couple of these questions, but I’m no expert. I assume that the seats in the 2022 will be the same as the ones in our 2020.5 G. So they should turn around and face in. And it looks like the same fridge, which is just DC. The solar panels keep the batteries charged and I am told by people who know more than I do that it’s more efficient and less problematic than having a three-way or a two way. The engineers is a six cylinder gasoline - you can look up the specs for a Ram Promaster 3500. Gas mileage should be in the 15 to 20 range (depending on how much you’re hauling, terrain, speed, etc). For the price you can go over to the Winnebago website to get. Not cheap with the lithium. That’s why we ended up getting the basic G, although I now regret that and wish we had shelled out the extra money for the GL. Hope this answers a few of your questions. We bought ours just before lock down, so we haven’t had a chance to use it as much as we’d planned in the past 10 months.
@@richdv6800 The Pleasure Way doesn't have a lithium battery system. You can "cut the cord" with this one and forget having to find campgrounds with hookups as it'll run your electric almost entirely on battery power. For people who like to boondock for days at a time this beats out the Pleasure Way. The Nova is a worthy competitor though as they offer a lithium system as well.
Biggest thing I hope the upgrade for next year is larger water tanks. While the electricity is fantastic, you can't boondock for long without needing to fill and dump the water.
Just curious, if you were camping with full hookups in this new travato with the city water hookup located inside the van would you have to always have the doors open? Or is there a way to close the rear doors and maintain a city water connection. Thanks.
Yes, the design intent is to use the water pump. Having the system inside eliminates a potential freeze point. It’s one less opening in the side of the van to worry about sealing, leaking, or corroding. Leaving the city water connected can be problematic if there’s a leak.
Absolutely! I won't consider anything 59GL...keep it 2019 to 2020 They should have kept the layout the same.and just upgraded screens....interior quality type items....Dont think it was a good idea for them to remove the "jump seat" Less seating and lost the front bed option.
People that have what was always known as the Front Lounge ABSOLUTELY LOVED AND APPRECIATED HAVEN'T IT AS THEIR COMPUTER DESK/HOME OFFICE WORK AREA. So they shouldn't have omitted it. Lots of people purchase the vans that have a front lounge.

Like the new rear bath layout /- quick question though. To use city water you need to leave your door open?? Isn’t that both a security concern and a waste of power to run the AC or heat pending time of year!?
I hope this comment reaches Winnebago engineering. I have a few suggestions to make the Travato more appealing. 1) raise the roof like on the Regency American Traveler. 2) eliminate the propane tank and instead have a gasoline assist for the Truma heating from the gas tank. 3) Increase the tank sizes owing to the extra cabinet capacity because of the added interior height. 4) Have adjustable air shocks that can also be used for leveling. 5) Hinge freezer door at bottom so it's more easily accessible. 6) Offer tinted side cab windows and a brush guard as options. Thanks for hearing me out. I hope this helps.
I don’t own a van as yet however I fell in love with the Travato 59GL because of the layout and capability to carry 4 seat belt passengers and sleep 4. However the fact it was changed and unable to sleep 4, I will now have to seek another option for my van purchase. The screen and other upgrades are great but in my opinion it makes no sense being able to carry 4 passengers but only sleep 2. The van life community who was looking for that additional sleeping capacity have been left out. It’s an open an airy floor plan but the fact that it had the stationary work area is what I liked the most vs having to keep converting the work space and table area. The older models can actually have table space for 4 working or eating passengers comfortably. The lagoon style table is way too small. I’m so disappointed that I have now started looking at other companies for a newer model class B that can sleep 4 and seat 4 for dinner all at the same time. If a newer model with another company is not found, then I will have to consider getting an older Travato 5gl model, but unfortunately some of the upgrades would be needed 😢😢. According to another comment the person said that the older models have now gone up in value. So true. Great job Marcus but Winnebago missed the mark for me as a newbie
I'm left with a few questions: Does it have a freezer? Does it come with sumo springs? Has the National Park edition been discontinued for 2022? And as far as a fully electric 4x4 ProMaster, I know that's aeons away, but it's nice to dream, ain't it?
Is there a hookup for water when at a campground? With the water inside the back door it seems not to have that. That would be a deal breaker for me. Many times I will want to stay at a campground and have sewer, water and shore power.
I have the same question @Winnebago RVs. I am so close to ordering one of these vans, and will be travelling solo. I will have to unhook my water when I leave my vehicle, or at night to lock up/sleep unless I'm missing something? It is a deal-breaker for me too.
Love this! Give us a pop-top option on travato, I would have had one yesterday. I’m sure there are weight and roof real estate issues as to why there’s not a pop top, but one can dream.
I liked your presentation of the 2022 model but, I like the older ones better. More seating, better layout and twin beds. Im still looking and think ill try an find an older model that's been lightly used. Thanks.
I wished you would have mentioned the solar and the tanks. How much solar can you put on it? How much can the water, grey water, and black tanks hold? Also are the windows double pane? I have always loved the Trovato G/GL. I wish winnebago would put a nice big refrigerator like the one in the Travato G in all of their class B vans!! That’s a huge selling point. Thanks for sharing the new GL.
Seems pretty challenging, expensive, and lot of maintenance in such a small B van. Shower goes into gray tank which is shared with your sink, so you'd have to either separate it into it's own tank (and have another to take up space) or have a system that is good enough to filter out the food particles, soap, etc. AND be small enough to fit somewhere on the van - doubtful there is something reasonably priced and small enough yet. Even if there was, you'd have to deal with cleaning that filter quite often. For this type of van you should be doing military showers anyway, quick and using little water; if you want to enjoy a long hot shower, a small B van might not be for you
Great Tour Sir. Time for Winnebago to use the Taller Ford Transit for the Travato. I would reverse the Fridge with the Microwave. Sucks to get on your knees to get Lettuce out and you don’t use the Microwave as much as the Fridge. Bed Location. Grade F. I would not want my Head to be separated from a Pooping person by Inches Toilet in the Bathroom. That’s a Romance Killer. The Coachmen Beyond D is the Winner so far Head to Head. Grade C+. The Electrical System in this will make the MSRP above $135.000. I’d build a Custom Van for this Price.
you missed the awning which was upgraded to a mesh material to let wind pass threw (when it rains it pours) so happy govt. made marijuana legal during the design process
Gotta say that the vast majority of changes went in the wrong direction for me: - loss of storage space - loss of extra seat - weird (and seriously uncomfortable looing) car seat bench instead a comfortable expansive bench - wobbly table that can't be used for both driver and passenger seats to create a shared experience - how does someone use city water without having to leave the back door open the whole time?!?
Agreed. THEY TOTALLY RUINED THE TRAVATO. Was hoping for more minor changes incorporating some of the NPF features like the 4th power core, off road wheels. All we got was the RUG.
you can order the 4th core as an option now.... would be nice be able to order KO2s I think it would an interesting mod project to have an ottoman with storage and fold out / add piece front bed feature.. I think something pretty nice could be made to fill that gap
If you can afford it - GRECH Strada-Ion is by far the best Class-B made. My 2022 is awesome and we’re spoiled by it big time. Makes RVing so easy. (Not paid to say this, I’m so glad no generator)
Its now just like every other B van out there...sleeps only two......loss of cargo space....might as well buy a K or one of the other wanna be's...huge step backwards
Other then the new bed design, inside water controls, the induction cooktop and sink along with the new information center in the cab and the gravity drain in the shower there is not really anything else that I would want from my current 2017.5 Travato. They missed on the removal of the other sleeping area big time (thats where the dog sleeps). IMHO.They turned it into a two person coach unless they eventually add in the pop top which I wouldn't want. I hate canvas exterior walls. It would have been nice to know with all the insulation they added what the ratings were for the floor, walls and ceiling.
The Travato doesn't include a spare tire, but it does come with a tire tool set including the jack, jack handle and lug wrench. The Travato is only available on the Ram ProMaster® 280-hp, 3.6L V6 gas engine. This four season van includes all-season and sidewall insulation, new honeycomb composite insulated flooring, above-floor waterlines, heated tanks, insulated rear window zipper coverings, and available dual-pane acrylic insulated windows. We strongly recommend following the guidelines in the owner's manual when camping in freezing conditions.
@@ejacs8077 There are aftermarket spare tire carriers that fit the trailer hitch. Some have pass-through hitches so you don't lose the ability to attach a bike carrier or another accessory.
The sink was the upgrade I liked best but still missed by not have a pull out head to direct spray. No Jensen and removal of outside speakers were the only other pluses for me.
Lagoon table are looks super tight for two people. Wished you would've sat there to give a better idea or explained in more detail. Great video and love the bed.
I haven planning on buying a Travato GL in the next few years. This new design has taken the Travato and likely Winnebago of my list of options. Darn. Specifically I chose this for the ability to sleep 3 people. The solis with a pop up, will not work for me. So now I am will have to abandon the idea of a new Travato, and go to some other manufacturer. I hope Winnebago chances their mind. It looks like most people have the same complaint.
Thanks 4 gr8t review, luv the 22 59g. if they could only get rid of the propane, or maybe just have a small refillable removable tank. Else this is sweet.
Nice van...but you said nothing about the refrigerator, was that an oversight or that silver door across from the galley wasn't a fridge? Also no mention of vents or A/C or heat....And why when these presentations are given the price is almost never mentioned? Asking for a friend.
@@gerrywagner3693 it seems the idea was to fill it and then use water till depleted then fill again, actually if you think about it this class b campers design was to be mobile and not really intended for hookups i guess a decision had to be made and it is not so bad

That is my future Van, I love it , I would like to make it 4x4 and it is going to win
There are some good ideas for creating a camper van in this Winagbego, but it is still extremely crowded and not open enough for me.
Loved this video.
How do you keep a water hose attached to the vehicle when in a campground if the water connection is inside the van?
I wished you would have mentioned the solar and the tanks. How much solar can you put on it? How much can the water, grey water, and black tanks hold? Also are the windows double pane? I have always loved the Trovato G/GL. I wish winnebago would put a nice big refrigerator like the one in the Travato G in all of their class B vans!! That’s a huge selling point. Thanks for sharing the new GL.
Hi Tracy, we recommend checking out full specifications at the Travato page here:
www.winnebago.com/models/product/motorhomes/camper-van/travato
Excellent usefull detailed review. Nice job
Is it diesel or gas..if diesel, whose engine and what does this vehicle cost? Four wheel drive?
Excellent review!
Glad you liked it!
I like improvements; Induction stove, both sinks/faucets, rug, etc.
I love everything about this unit, but is there a model with AWD or 4x4??
when are we going to do a recirculating shower since you did some upgrades? / guess I am still visiting truck stops
For this type of van you should be doing military showers anyway, quick and using little water; if you want to enjoy a long hot shower, a small B van might not be for you
@@skinnysurvivor103 thank you that makes sense
@@skinnysurvivor103 It's definitely possible on a custom conversion but there would need to be 2 water systems.
I love it ... thank you for the walk through! 👏👍
Wonder if they improved the foam in the seats? Blind spot monitoring etc?
Awesome! Great improvement"!👍..Is the front seats can be transformed into a another bed??
I want this layout with the Solaris pop top for my two children.
You have to open the door to access the services station? Gonna suck in winter.
Excellent presentation! Obviously believes in product. This could be made as a B+
Thank you!
Good review on the changes from prior years. Assume the roof and window sealing product hasn't improved?
That was a good walk-through. Thank you.
you missed the awning which was upgraded to a mesh material to let wind pass threw (when it rains it pours) so happy govt. made marijuana legal during the design process
Is the toilette a cassette toilette? If not how many gallons does it hold?
im in love with this van
Gotta say that the vast majority of changes went in the wrong direction for me:
- loss of storage space
- loss of extra seat
- weird (and seriously uncomfortable looing) car seat bench instead a comfortable expansive bench
- wobbly table that can't be used for both driver and passenger seats to create a shared experience
- how does someone use city water without having to leave the back door open the whole time?!?
Agreed. THEY TOTALLY RUINED THE TRAVATO. Was hoping for more minor changes incorporating some of the NPF features like the 4th power core, off road wheels. All we got was the RUG.
@@MM-fe9mz YES! National Parks Edition was my absolute FAV Travato! I was hoping they would go more in that direction, as well.
you can order the 4th core as an option now.... would be nice be able to order KO2s
I think it would an interesting mod project to have an ottoman with storage and fold out / add piece front bed feature.. I think something pretty nice could be made to fill that gap
Very helpful, well done!
Glad it was helpful!
If you can afford it - GRECH Strada-Ion is by far the best Class-B made. My 2022 is awesome and we’re spoiled by it big time. Makes RVing so easy. (Not paid to say this, I’m so glad no generator)
No, I will have to get an older one. The booth seating that makes another bed was appealing. Loss of that bench for the podium negates that.
It looks great you did a great job. Can't wait to see it in person. 🇺🇸
Its now just like every other B van out there...sleeps only two......loss of cargo space....might as well buy a K or one of the other wanna be's...huge step backwards
What an excellent video..
Glad you enjoyed it!
this guy has never snowboarded a day in his life
great tour! And wow, what great upgrades Winnebago has made to this coach. Thank you!
I take back the inside water controls...city water is also in there and the only way you can connect is leaving the back doors open....bad idea IMHO
@@oldhickory2064 Exactly, the water hook up makes no sense.
Love the new design! This one is definately on my list now
Spare tire ,Jack, lug wrench?Cummings Diesel option?complete 4 season package available?
The Travato doesn't include a spare tire, but it does come with a tire tool set including the jack, jack handle and lug wrench. The Travato is only available on the Ram ProMaster® 280-hp, 3.6L V6 gas engine. This four season van includes all-season and sidewall insulation, new honeycomb composite insulated flooring, above-floor waterlines, heated tanks, insulated rear window zipper coverings, and available dual-pane acrylic insulated windows. We strongly recommend following the guidelines in the owner's manual when camping in freezing conditions.
@@WinnebagoRVs Winnebago could at least make a spare tire optional. I REMEMBER Back in caveman days every vehicle had a spare tire.
@@ejacs8077 Unfortunately a lot of manufactures delete spare tires to save weight.
@@ejacs8077 There are aftermarket spare tire carriers that fit the trailer hitch. Some have pass-through hitches so you don't lose the ability to attach a bike carrier or another accessory.
Nice 🚗... waiting for other video...greeting from bali chanel❤️
More to come!
The sink was the upgrade I liked best but still missed by not have a pull out head to direct spray. No Jensen and removal of outside speakers were the only other pluses for me.
the changes makes it much easily to put in the faucet / sprayer combo you really want -- would good to have fitted wooden cutting board /sick cover
I keep waiting for the flip-up extension to be shown for extra counter space. They never show it. 😒
Lagoon table are looks super tight for two people. Wished you would've sat there to give a better idea or explained in more detail. Great video and love the bed.
how is the city water hooked up with the door closed?
Is it me or are most people's home builds better than mass produced class B's
Well those self build vans are not safe for a 60m/h collision,
Also not good for resale value.
Check out zipper bedding for the bed. There are several that make them. Great for RV’s / Van life.
Well done Marcus, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Where are the electric outlets? Just on the pedestal behind the passenger seat?
I haven planning on buying a Travato GL in the next few years. This new design has taken the Travato and likely Winnebago of my list of options. Darn.
Specifically I chose this for the ability to sleep 3 people. The solis with a pop up, will not work for me.
So now I am will have to abandon the idea of a new Travato, and go to some other manufacturer. I hope Winnebago chances their mind. It looks like most people have the same complaint.
Patented Cabbunk childbed can be added.
@@patentedcabbunk1941 I'll have to look at the options. Maybe it will still be good for us.
Nice presentation.
Glad you liked it!
No bench seat no second bed ,that aluminum frame is so classy. Guess I can find a 2021. I do like the electric stove.
Fantastic walkthrough!
Thank you 👍
great review...I want one
Go for it!
If anyone likes the old G front bed space, take a look at Panoramic RV. Pretty similar and quality looks top notch.
I love it..
Very good rapport!
Thanks 4 gr8t review, luv the 22 59g. if they could only get rid of the propane, or maybe just have a small refillable removable tank. Else this is sweet.
Travato TOTALLY RUINED. No front bed. No 4th Lithium core. Was propane removed? No NPF edition. No upgraded tires. Boring exterior Paint.
Absolutely agree - WGO bombed it. BOO, HISS! Better get back to the drawing board.
Nice van...but you said nothing about the refrigerator, was that an oversight or that silver door across from the galley wasn't a fridge? Also no mention of vents or A/C or heat....And why when these presentations are given the price is almost never mentioned? Asking for a friend.
Hi Joseph. Our Travato 59GL features a refrigerator next to the pantry. You can learn more about this model on our website: bit.ly/3LSkzdV
Excellent commentary -- i'm sold :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for the review. Have a blessed day.
So if I'm at a campground and want to take a shower on city water I have to leave the back door open???? What genius thought that was a good idea?
When go to a campground I normally hook to shore power and water. I guess if you buy this you can't do that without leaving the door open. Dumb.
@@robertspear9134 During the design process of the water intake, the govt. legalized marijuana , need I say more
I agree. I don't want to leave the back door open either. Glad I have a 2020.
@@gerrywagner3693 it seems the idea was to fill it and then use water till depleted then fill again, actually if you think about it this class b campers design was to be mobile and not really intended for hookups i guess a decision had to be made and it is not so bad
@@gerrywagner3693 if that back door is left open wild animals can get in like raccoons there's Bobcats could be extremely dangerous
Just upgrade the quality and leave the puzzle bed for emergency sleeping. Larger water, grey and black. These are what people want.
It's a class B. You will always lose some liquid storage space with that. That's why there's the B+ class.
Can a wheelchair lift put in?
How do you get water into the vehicle without the back door open? Seems like a stupid design oversight.
