Basically use a light pencil, blend with a sponge. then use a medium pencil blend with sponge again. Then use a darker pencil to make the shadows. Use a charcoal pencil to deepen the shadows and blend. go in with the medium pencil again. Blend. Use the Charcoal again to put in more shadows. then he uses a mechanical pencil for fine lines. The orange pencil is the general Charcoal pencil, 6B soft. Use a tortillion to blend out the charcoal, keep layering in the shadows till you get the dimension in the hair. Pull out the highlights with an eraser pen, you can also do his with Faber Castel Perfection pencil eraser and keep it sharp. he then uses the mechanical pencil to draw the fly aways, this adds to the realism. I will have to start using my mechanical pencil more. It gets the fine hairs. Thanks for the video, hair is the hardest thing for me to draw.
Can you put what number pencils you are using in the top corner of the video so we know what you are using during the process? It would really help! Thank you!
Вот, настоящий художник! Берите пример с него! С самого детства рисует! Молодец! У него даже руки уже не отмываются от графита! Невероятный Талант!!! 👍😊👍😊👏👏👏😊👏👏👏
Excellent Chris! Nice set of tools for the job too. I kept pausing to try to see the grades on the pencils. I am still struggling for too long to get my faces right! Thanks for showing us.
I love that with this video he is showing us how he using the pencil in real time and the different layers instead of speeding it through like most artists on RUclips do. To learn I need someone to show me what to do and the actual time it takes to do it.
Oof, it just takes time. I've been drawing people for about seven to eight years and I have improved so much! Trust me, the time and effort is worth it.
I could not draw to save my soul until after my first divorce. I needed something calming so I started. I sucked LOL. I got the book Draw Real People and learned. Vast improvements in learning. Not to use hard lines but light lines as guides and it is all shading. I am still not as great as I would like, though my friends love my work, it is still many level below this. So, I keep learning new techniques, and that is how I found this channel. It is already paying off, especially learning the patients of layering. In any case, art is an expression of yourself and should be enjoyable, just keep learning and keep it fun.
Hi Chris, another great video as always. You are so talented. I am wondering if you only used graphite pencil to get the hair that dark or did you combine it with carbon pencil or charcoal? How can I get the hair on my drawings to look that black without excessive shine?
really very learning video.. thanks... could you please suggest instead of mono tombo pen type eraser which could be used? as it is very costly... pls suggest it will be helpful...

Travis Webster is correct and one of my favorite tools.
It would certainly be much cooler than fashioning my putty rubber (I know it's UK 'putty eraser' then ) into a point for lifting out eye whites. :-)

Tony Quigley That is the most ignorant thing I’ve ever read in my 12 years of living. You got some researching to do buddy.
