- Insulating the floors was a must for us. High will travel under the bus causing them to get very cold so it is definitely a good idea to insulate them. We used 1.5" rigid foam which was an r value of 7.5
Here is a list of the other tools we have used.
Air Ratchet amzn.to/2PGM5SG
Impact Driver amzn.to/2NRCHsL
Angler Grinder amzn.to/2OXjhDc
Twisted Wire Brush Wheel amzn.to/2MJnoQL

How tall is the interior of your bus?
Are bus is pretty standard. At the highest point its 6'3" and on the sides at the lowest point it's about 5'11"
@@BackroadPurpose Thank you!
Damm I can't even stand up in your bus
good question i wan wondering too . how much space would be lost.
It's something to factor in on building, how warm you want it or the added expense of a roof raise to help keep the interior height
dude is a straight G, crusin' around in a chair you'd find in grandma's house! bad ass ✌🏼
Haha dude! Thank you. I totall forgot about that until you made this comment, I even rewatched this video haha! wild.
@@BackroadPurpose that's awesome. homie is a bad ass, haha
Bus is looking fantastic 👍 looking forward to seeing your next video
Thank you! Its definitely starting to turn into something exciting!
Looks great! I'm about to start installing my subfloor and can't wait to start building up!
Dude congrats! It's super exciting once you get to start building and noylt just the preparation stage
@@BackroadPurpose thank you! Yeah I can’t wait 😁
awesome video. i subbed and all. Looking to make my own tiny bus home. A lot of research
Awesome! Thank you! If you need anything, let me know!
@@BackroadPurpose thanks so much
Very nice. Looks great.
Great work and thank you! We’re a few steps behind you in out build :). Lots of filming so far but no editing.
Nice! Yeah filming and editing is such a huge job. Especially while working on the bus itself
Learning a lot from you thanks !!! Looking forward to seeing your next video it looks great!!
Thank very much for watching! I'm glad I can help. Let me know if there's anything you might need Clarity on.
The Wood Frame is a heat bridge.....
Hmm I am not trying to be a downer bud but all the edges of your sheets of osb board should be landing on some form of framing to reduce flex in the board but cool bus mate I'll follow and see how you go
Also gives the join a level so it stays flat
Does that Mr. Buddy heater produce enough heat? I’m wondering if I should get a propane torpedo heater or just wait till Spring. Thanks, I sent you an email Caleb earlier in this week. Thanks, Steve
This little buddy heater was perfect for working in it. Its would get to about 63f in our 35ft bus! We did just get two 12v diesel heaters and those are amazing! And yessir. Thank you so much. I responded.
? I just started a school bus conversion. You spent countless hours fixing floor and putting pennies down to cover holes, only to drill decking screws through the bottom of the bus? I'm not trying to be rude or anything just wondering? I am almost to subfloor in my conversion and looking for some enlightenment on how?
Hey! Good question. The purpose of the paint was just giving myself a clean service to work on. Cleaned up and solid to build on. The pennies is filling larger holes. Screws did cause a hole but not just an open hole for bugs and critters to climb through
In the video says 2.5 months? How many hours do you think has gone into insulating and flooring? Whatever it was for you, probably triple for me....lol
lol Id say a day for insulation and a day for covering and framing the floor. Now that've learned, time will be a lot less.
@@BackroadPurpose thank you 😊🙏
Hmm. It makes a thousand times more sense to hire a pro to come in and do expanding foam spray insulation. The pros who do this know how to do the prep work and application quickly and how to trim it so it's flat after it dries. You don't have to size and trim anything and you easily fill ALL the gaps.
Yeah possibly but I got all these sheets for $75 and took about 1.5 days. I don't make $1800 in a day so this was more cost effective for me.
@@BackroadPurpose It doesn't cost $1800 to get that done with expanding foam, you can also DIY, and the point is not so much the money but the insulation. Hard to feel proud of DIY on the cheap when you're freezing your butt off.
