Did you guys use a moister barrier under the foam between the metal of your bus and your buikd material? I didn't at first but took my build apart and added a vapor barrier. How necessary is it to have one and why if you didn't use one didn't you. If not would you have done it before installing your lights etc?
I believe the reason we did not was because the climate and temperatures we will be in with the humidity will not be drastic enough to cause moisture. As in, our bus will not be in 100degree temperature and 60 degrees inside, with high humidity level. and we use diesel to heat our bus which is a dry heat that will not build up condensation.
@@BackroadPurpose The cheapest I can find from Home Depot is the utility panel which costs about $20. Was that the one you used? I wish Lowes carry 1/8 boards...
Quick safety tip for those who may not know. If you are wiring 110v AC do not do it with any power source to it. The lights she wired are 12v they are safe to wire while love thy won’t shock you. 110v is dangerous and can lead to serious harm.
That ceiling looks AWESOME! Holy smokes! The lights... Whoa! Cool to hear the lumens and amp draw (super promising not to be a big drain on your electrical system). We were thinking of doing the plywood ceiling, but then got our hands on some other stuff we'll be putting up. However, we do love the look of the plywood! Good placement on the lights. Are they about 3' apart? Or what's the spacing on those? Looks like there is a nice spread of light with no dark in-between spots. Do y'all have a link for the light pucks you're using? Send it to us! Keep rocking it, y'all! - Brian + Erin
Hey! thank you so much for watching again. yeah I like knowing the specs of this stuff myself so I think it's good to share all of that random info. It all matters a lot in these builds. Installing the ceiling is a pain but definitely doable. We went with the plywood just because we're not fans of the plank boards and not a fan of the OEM Ceiling. Plus each sheet is only like $13. and yes. they are 30" apart and 16" from the top of the window. the Kitchen lights are a little further apart buttt yeah. The kit comes with 6 lights that feed into an adapter so it makes it simple. We used 5 for the living room and 4 for the kitchen and plan on splicing 2 together for the hallway and then 1 for the bathroom. amzn.to/2UUAVJp this is what we got!
@@BackroadPurpose Thanks for the light link and for those dimensions! One thing we were thinking about lighting is that the flood from the light needs to cross each other so that there's even light. Looks like 30" spacing did that nicely on yours! Definitely like that they are dimmable. We should be hitting up designing our electrical layout soon, and the link for these lights are going on the list! Thanks so much! - Brian + Erin
I did. It sits inside a spindle on the top and bottom and the bottom spindle was bent so it sagged a bit and could not bend it back and the door was a bit to heavy to just put a washer to hold it up higher so I trimmed part of the bottom and now it sits flush.
yeah for sure! I like the look and it was only like $12 per sheet at Home Depot. I couldn't find it at lowes. 7ft is the max I could get it to bend to fit the curve of our International bus
Any condensation in the ceiling trying to find a good ceiling method thanks
Inspiration for me I’m overwhelmed and doing by myself
For sure. It's a lot of work and sometimes you just need a little help. Respect to you for attempting to do it solo as well
Me too darlin. A one woman band wagon 🙂
I'm in the process of converting mine as well.❤❤❤I love your videos. What kinda of wood was that y'all used???
love this !! i’m 19 converting my own skoolie and your videos help me so much. !! best of luck to both of you :)
Oh very cool! I'm glad I can help. Let me know if you need insight on anything else in particular.
That is one of the coolest things I have heard. Rock on!
Hey we’re 19 too! Did you finish your skoolie conversion?
It's looking good you guys! Must be satisfying to put a finished surface in.
OMG it does! It's starting to get more into the build side of it and its quite exciting! We really need to finish the electrical though..

I want to keep my mental roofing. But want to do the walk half way down wood.
Really like the way it’s looking!
thank you! Its defiantly coming together!
What do you use for the ceiling,
Oh man they need to bring back the Java Chiller.
I totally agree!
You should add a link to where you got your puck lights. They are small yet bright. Love them
Thank you!! Heres the link! They have been great so far! amzn.to/3d4dQPg
What thickness plywood are you using? I am debating between 1/4 or 11/32 for our skoolie ceiling 😣
We actaully used 1/8th luna/underlayment. you can get it at Home depot for $12!!!!

Lol very true. If the wire is hot, you will get zapped and its not a nice tickle.
Awesome!! Still learning from you guys keep up the good work!!!
Thank you so much! Im glad we can be of service to you!!
What lights did you use in the ceiling?
These! amzn.to/3tjOen1
Where did you get your windows?
They're just the OEM windows
Hey there! We would like to do this same kind of ceiling. Can you tell me how you put up those strips under the plywood to hold the ceiling?
Hey! Thank you so much for watching! Heres a video I made about installing them! ruclips.net/video/-NkxXE66-8c/видео.html
Plz
I really like the look of the smooth ceiling it makes it look higher. Or maybe you two are not 6’ tall. 😁
Haha! we definitely on the shorter side but the ceiling does make it appear a bit taller!

Good joop
Lol thanks!
now that i see the door, look hinge at top of door and mount area

Short bus conversions
Nice!
What size of plywood did you use for ceiling
1/8" birch and cut it down to 7ft
@@BackroadPurpose thank you im working on my ceiling now. i think plywood is the cheapest and birch in nice
