hi,i will try to answer you 1) no they are not closed after dam completion 2) yes they are part of damn 3) Diversion canals have their own purpose, they act as storage dams, reservoirs and also to raise and lower the level of actual dam storage ,am talking about cofferdams. I might be wrong too.there are atleast 6 types of cofferdams depending on the depth and soil conditions. i will edit my answer if am wrong.

River flow is diverted through the bypass tunnel as explained in the video. The Tunnel remains operational until the dam construction is complete. so that the construction activities can be carried out. Tunnel ends are closed by vertical gates at both ends once the dam becomes operational.

what happen to the diversion tunnel after the dam is built ?
Probably kept incase repairs on the dam are required
Sometimes turned into emergency spillways
When the flooding situation takes place that tunnel is opened for passing excess water
Great explanation!
Please make more videos like water tank, retaining wall, Concrete Road, residential building, industrial building etc too.

I had no idea how a dam was created. It is a complicated process
What will happen if heavy flood is going at the time of construction?.... That diversion canal was designed enough to handle those situation?

And when the construction is still on progress..how could the river flows? Or it just be overflowed until the construction is done
River flow is diverted through the bypass tunnel as explained in the video. The Tunnel remains operational until the dam construction is complete. so that the construction activities can be carried out. Tunnel ends are closed by vertical gates at both ends once the dam becomes operational.
