I just watched this movie and i can't believe how much of this movie was used by the duffer brothers to make stranger things. Sure there is the goonies and et but the core is in this movie.
My favorite part of watching horror movies was watching the trailers at the beginning of movies and hearing the narrators voice I always wonder who he was as I feel like he narrated every horror movie trailer anybody know?
Me, coz I just saw reels a boy who never cut his hair for 5 yrs and I just saw this comment tha he looks like drew barrymore bout this movie so I search it and remember the movie is..😂
I loved this movie when I was a kid. Seen it so many times. But i have not seen it in years now. I am 42 years old so I would say over 30 years was the last time I watched it.
I just saw the trailer for the new Firestarter, and had no idea it was a remake. Before the new Firestarter movie comes out, I want to see the old one.
I remember seeing bits and pieces of this as a kid but it never held my interest. I read the book many years later and really enjoyed it, especially its apocalyptic ending. Then I finally watched the movie and I can’t help but love it. It’s not great, and there are elements from the book that the film simply cannot capture, it I have a soft spot for it.
I remember I had my driver's license I was 16 1984 took my girlfriend to the movie theater and watched it to drive in of course had a Little Caesars Pizza and had a good time man I miss those days back when gas was 68 cents
Just finished reading the book and wow, literally most of the scenes in the book were perfectly executed on screen just based on the trailer ALONE. Glad I read the book first before moving into the film 😭
When I saw the trailer for the reboot I had to check and make sure this was the same story I watched years ago. I just remember the father having telekinesis and daughter hurling fireballs at everything.
My favorite Soundtrack; "MUSIC BY TANGERINE DREAM" YES!!!!!! In the TV version the added scenes show the fireballs coming from her eyes!!! The camera angles are different, different takes probably
I remember when this commercial came up on TV my mother thought that I was watching it on tv and she told me that I needed to turn that because she used to not want us watching something that had to do with evil. I told it's not on a show on tv just something that the advertisement is telling what is coming to the movies! lol Now she likes it!
The way her powers worked when saying back off. Made me think perhaps some mystery Ghost was supposed to within her. But, Stephen King was like nawwww. Let's just make it seem that way 🤗😂
I'm glad it's on blu ray now because my VHS always had an issue like it was warped and I never found a decent replacement DVD for it and I'm actually trying to start a blu ray collection as I'm getting rid of most of my old DVDS and VHS.
That's Padalecki, he was two when he did this movie. Millenials are so cock stuffed with themselves, they think everyone & everything in history revolves around them. I guess that's why the millenial generation is considred the most selfish to date.
I'm pretty disappointed that they didn't cast a real Native American as Rainbird. He's such a fascinating character, like Chief Bromden, only opposite.
Actually, the Daddy here (0:11) almost looks like Zack Efron now, but in the reboot version, the Zack himself make it bearded and short his hair, that makes him looks different from this.
Read the Institute and found out from some others that it’s similar to Firestarter, except it has to do with more than one kid. And the psychic abilities the kids have are telekinesis and telepathy. I’m going to watch this movie and read the book, too, if or when I can.
I feel like this movie would benefit from a re edit. The best scenes were the more atmospheric ones with the excellent score and the ending was great, but there were several unnecessary scenes that slowed down the pacing.
Is there anyone reading these comments on this account here because I’ve always wanted to watch this movie back in theaters back in 1984 as an 11 year old what the thing is my parents wouldn’t let me see it because they believe it was too scary for me to look at, but I remember watching it Two years later in 1987 when it aired on Philadelphia’s WPHL 17 during the time when they had a program called the Universal Pictures debut network which aired this movie for the first time on analog television, because everybody knew that analog TV was done around long ago because I remember the child Drew Barrymore, who played Charlie McGee and many others who played in the movie years ago.
When i was a child i watched the old firestarter by Drew Barrymore and now im 47 yo still watching the remake 2022 and it was great remembering the past i hope they will make a part when the girl is in her puberty

David here from Sebring Florida and I have been a movie buff for over fifty years and I saw this when it came out and I thought it was good, but I Thought Drew’s Mother must of really needed the money to put Drew through this, why not find her a nice movie in her age group.
The book is great, the movie,,,not so much, but it is a decent flick, i think it gets more hate then it deserves, I give it a 6.5-7.0 on a scale of 1-10
Eleven is totally based on Charlie. Charlie, at least in the book, is a child who wants to be captured by a secret government agency because she has special powers due to experimentation done on her parents. So now she is always running away and hiding from them. Sound familiar to season 1?
