I’m 51 and my older sister took me to see it when it was released. I was 8 years old and it still remains one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. I tried to watch it again last year and it still ramped up my anxiety to 11. Thanks Stephen, you are the King.

Barlow is what made it terrifying, the rest of the movie was solid but not that scary But people keep showing Barlow, will make the remake loose something especially if it doesn't match up

Still one of the best vampire films I've ever seen. I'm 34 and Barlow still gives me the creeps every time he pops up on the screen. I'd actually say this is one of the few movies that does the original book justice.
@@uriel4829 everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I myself thought this movie was and is still terrifying with the ominous atmosphere. How you don't see Barlow until aboit an hour into the movie, and even when you do see him, it's only in small amounts so his appearance is all the more effective. The movie may have changed some things from the book but I think it works well on screen.

David Soul was amzing in this. When he makes the cross he terrified for real. Fantastic perfomance. I know James Mason loved the script and was a very funny man. The Mini Series in a total classic.

Thanks Steven King, it’s an absolute classic that will always live with me.
I remember we got a VCR and my father was looking at a film. He wanted to rewind it to look at it again and there he was with his finger on the rewind button saying jayse this isn't great 😂

Vampire rising from the kitchen floor, Mrs Glick and Danny as vampires, James Mason etc etc etc! David Soul and the entire cast on top form. Creepy atmosphere throughout.
I recently finished reading the novel for the first time yesterday and while this version does deviate from the book somewhat, it definitely does stay true to the eeriness of the book and is one of my favorite vampire films and Stephen King adapted movies. .

This is so much creepier than today's horror movies. Special effects weren't as advanced back then so they used atmosphere, music, and acting to augment it. I've never seen this movie so I'll have to do that soon.
Yes, to this day the scratching on the window clearly remember being frightened to the point where this scene is permanently etched in my brain above all other movie clips.
I bought the album with all the soundtracks of this film. Very scary music to listen to! Makes you think of all the scary scenes from Salem's Lot when you listen to this album which is a masterpiece.

I played the movie for my son and his friends about 10 yrs ago. They were teenagers at the time, and I turned the lights out and put the movie on the Jailhouse Shock scene and when Barlow popped up on the screen the jumped up screaming and ran out of the house.😂😂😂. When I was a kid this movie absolutely terrified me. I would sleep with a stuffed chipmunk wrapped around my neck to prevent vampires. Too bad it didn’t work. Now I walk the night eternal.

If vampires have to be invited in, how did the master Kurt Barlow crash through the window of Mark Petree's house and attack them? 2. Once Danny let his little brother in the first time, why did he have to invite him in again the second time? 3. How was Danny able to awake in the daytime in his casket to attack Mike? I think "Salem's Lot" is Stephen King's best work. This TV miniseries, while having many deficiencies, is an extraordinary adaptation, worth to watch.
