I was in a huge fight with my parents and planning on sneaking out, I cried for hours. I actually don't hate this series as much as I worried I would. The molded hair is unique on each doll from what I could tell and we got our wish: no wigs. The lack of rooted hair also makes it more of an ideal doll for the water. The metallic pink isn't actually that bad to look at (as someone who is not fond of pink). Thank you for sharing this.

I prefer the wigs. Now the doll has a small hole in the back of her head! At least with the wig I could take it off and show off the cute pixie cut or interchange the wigs. Lots of fun!

I bought one of the Barbie mermaids a few weeks ago after watching your videos. HOLY COW! The color swirls are way more relaxing and amazing in person. I definitely recommend anyone reading this comment to go out and but one of these!

These a cool/cute new colour reveal dolls, the effect with the pink water has improved and looks amazing, the ponytail hair plug is an interesting idea. Love the rainbow theme on Chelsea her rainbow hair would look awesome in a full head of rooted hair. They are pretty dolls. Love your review 😍💗
Happy you love these dolls, but I can't defend these dolls especially since the cost for them haven't decreased despite getting cheaper and cheaper. If these doll were $5 each, than sure that'd be fine. But they are what, $15-20? While $26 gets you the new Barbie Extra dolls.
I saw some color reveal in target yesterday and ik this is my opinion but I don't like them I like the gimmick but I feel like the doll itself is cheap

I use boiling water to get off paint then mix 2 cups of the water with a cup if soap flakes and it makes interesting slime

The blue reminded me of a blizzard I was once in, while at home with my family, during the holidays, not long after it started the power went out, and so did the internet and such, so no phones, "oh god we didn't have phone signal or internet, how did we survive"😂😂😂 we used our phone flashlights to find actual battery powered flashlights, so we could conserve phone battery, using the battery powered flashlights we put away our phones, and lit candles, then us kids went to the playroom and played by flashlight, while the adults talked in the other room, not long after tho, the blizzard picked up strength, and we could hear the wind howling outside, my younger relatives grew tearful out of fear, so we rejoined the adults, who calmed them, because we couldn't tell time, we stayed up until all of us kids fell asleep, we laid out blankets and pillows on the floor and slept that way, we still had no power, or cell service the next morning, so we had cereal, and ate using candlelight to see what we were doing, honestly looking back I'm glad it happened, because it put us in a place where we bonded more as a family, power was back by the afternoon, so we had lunch, and cell service returned not long after that, but we were all enjoying not having that, so we decided to leave the phones away, and just spend time together, until the plow trucks came and dug us out so we could leave, we had supper later, but did so by candlelight, because it felt more cozy and comforting, then my relatives left, and me and my remaining family started cleaning the house, after that, for many years it became a tradition to eat using only candlelight, and to stay off electronics, sadly that's not something that's done anymore, tho I wish it was.

I like that they went for the plugs than the wigs, but you would think if they pulled off rooted hair look before they would do it again? That might be a me opinion, but idk.
The rooted hair worked for the mermaids because it was just their tails that had the paint. Putting that paint in the hair would probably not only be very difficult, but might cause issues with the hair itself, such as staining.

I just found the new color revel as well! So excited...but wish they had rooted hair! Like the mermaids which r my fave but they r frustrating to collect as I keep finding doubles!
There are probably codes somewhere on the packaging to tell which one is which. Maybe search online to see if someone has figured out the codes?

i want to try and find the one thats got the black and white hair i think it's in wave one or may be 2? is there away to find out to know what one you got befor you do the water thing with them? and i think its cool there comeing out with ones with rooted hair but i also like the ones with wigs too.
My wish list for a future color reveal would include an articulated Ken doll without painted on clothes and a closed mouth. Rooted hair would be a plus.
Yes that would be a definite plus if Mattel could make this happen but the company doesn't seem to listen to these Barbie fans anymore. It's such a shame to see the Barbie brand going downhill nowadays...
I'd say they're not articulated because not only would it be difficult to coat the joints with paint, but then getting all the paint out again would be difficult. Same with the rooted hair. Also, I'd say the bodies are probably constructed a little differently inside than, say, a Made to Move body because of the water factor. With water toys, you want as few tiny crevices inside the toy as possible because if water gets trapped inside them, then it can go stagnant and/or mold, which means you have to throw the toy away for safety reasons. More articulation means more places for water to potentially get inside of and not be able to get back out. Throwing out a doll with only basic articulation because of mold issues is already sad, but imagine having to throw away a Made to Move doll because it was full of mold and mildew because the water couldn't escape after it got inside.
I would like one that would have PigTails..

I thought the sparkle series was coming... I'm confused! And I always reveal my doll in my living room. I'm an adult so I know how to play carefully. AND! I like the wigs. I say this a lot on your videos...
Maybe they renamed the sparkle series to the diamond series because it sounds more original? The holographic gold skirt of the Barbie could definitely have worked for a "sparkle" series. If all of the other dolls have holographic clothes, it would make sense.

Ooh, the swirly ponytail with the sideswept bangs reminds me of the Swirl Ponytail Barbie from way back in the 60s. I really like that. It seems like Mattel is giving a lot of homages to their original Barbies with some of their recent releases and I love it. (I realize this makes me sound way older than I actually am, but I actually just really have a soft spot for old toys and their history.) I also really want some of the Chelsea dolls. They're super cute!

I like that they're getting more innovative with the hair but my question is why cant they just do rooted hair? Like would it be entirely impossible to put the paint over rooted hair? I mean, Barbie has certainly put enough hairspray on doll hair before to make it stick together so why can't they just coat the doll, hair and all, in the paint? I mean, it would wash out the same as it washes off the plastic, right?
And the mermaids in this series have rooted hair!

Agreed. My daughter hates their painted bodies & hair even their wigs don't look right when put on. They're a total rip-offs due to its excessive prices as well. The quality of today's Barbie generation has gone from bad to worse.

The barbie extra dolls copyed OMG dolls.
I love the colour reveal aspect and the process but the dolls are very cheap and the hair pugs are aweful just like the wigs . I get these are aimed at kids and if this was the exception then it would be find but the company has gotten very cheap and cut a lot of corners with their dolls. No details, printed on fabric and moulded on clothes.. yikes ..

girls like to wear rainbows and unicorns, doesn't necessarily mean gay rights. I really hope they are not using Chelsea toys for this movement. when i see a rainbow, I think of its true meaning: God's covenant with us, not to flood the earth again.
