    i imagine Nurgle could conjure up a disease that constantly mutates itself as it passes from host to host and the hivemind would constantly have to evolve to deal with it, kind of like the Flu

    • @glassknife3383
      @glassknife3383 2 года назад +35

      This would make the nids incredibly powerful. They would have to ramp up their evolution process so high that any threat that wasn’t nurgle, would immediately have forms adapted to destroy it within seconds. The nids could use this to gain more biomass by consuming the rest of the factions while simultaneously evolving the shadow of the warp so it not only blinds chaos, but consumes it as well. GW kinda messed up by adding tyranids because they’re entire play style revolves around using an enemy against itself. Kind of like in the incredibles where they get the giant robot to impale itself with its own claw because it was the only thing strong enough to penetrate its armor.

    • @anthon0360
      @anthon0360 Год назад +44

      @@glassknife3383 I would argue against that, because the Tyranids only evolve to combat the current threat, and if they just focus all their energy on combatting a disease, they won't be able to focus their power onto other threats. From what I've seen so far on the lore of the Tyranids, they focus their might on whatever current threat is happening, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention how they've adapted to multiple issues at the exact same time.
      Just because they are ever evolving to combat a disease, doesn't mean they're just gonna suddenly start evolving rapidly for everything else. And if it does, everyone else has plot armor as well and they'll just match the power.

      Ou since you mentioned homebrew I'm beginning to look into getting my very first army and for fun I happened to be thinking like Khorn guys who we're trapped and decimated by Tyranids since chaos suffers so much that they're basically reduced to near mere guardsmen without the warp. But nonetheless these being Khorn guys they make a big go of it and enough form up a band that'll be of course the minis (say, 2000 points worth?) And they've managed to form a crusade to eliminate Tyranids for the blood god even though he entirely cares nothing for their skulls, eventually they figure they'll kill the hive mind and the disruption of the warp would leave, and the handful left would take quite a lot of chaos upgrades once they get back in contact for all their non-warp chaos heroics. I figure I'll have to massage fluff to make it fit and obviously wouldn't be a very good army to actually play against anyone in any competitive capacity, just for funsies. Oh by the by my wife says my budget is about $25 to $30

    If Nurgle isn't careful, this means of using the Tyranids for his own ends could be his undoing.
    He's basically forcing Tyranids to mutate to adapt to a problem, but if it's not killing them and they can figure out how to co-exist or even use it to their own adavntage than they could use what they have to combine with other genetic designs and so on. If Nurgle can use his infection to speak to others, who is to say the Tyranids couldn't hijack the process for themselves. Their hive ships already have enough pyschic power to block out any near warp, witth their own pyschic link on a extra-galactic scale.
    So if they figured out how to 'jump in' on that communication, the Tyranids may be able to hijack Nurgle's own followers for their own ends. Way I see it, Nurgle is playing a very dangerous game.

    It's worth pointing out that whilst Nurgle does technically "brew" pathogens in a cauldron as if he were in a lab with a centrifuge, working on manipulating actual DNA/RNA to develop traditional physical diseases that can and do transmit through traditional means (air/blood/touch, etc), his corruption is also metaphysical. He doesn't need to rely solely on the physical transmission of disease for it to spread. Under and in certain scenario's the influence of the warp is stronger than in others so it basically becomes a battle of minds to keep corruption from manifesting directly through the warp. If a splinter fleet were to enter a particularly strong manifested warp storm it probably wouldn't be strong enough to emit enough of a shadow to keep its affects at bay. Which is to say there's no reason a fleet couldn't spontaneously become infected via random contact with the immaterium.

    This is the problem with too many individual authors writing a non-structured story. Because we have lore claiming that while susceptible to infections, viruses and poisons Nids are 100% immune to chaos, we others claiming they can be corrupted if separated from the hivemind and then we have this situation where they can be corrupted while still connected. I honestly believe in the theory of Nids being the final great weapon of the old ones. If that is the case we need to consider the power of the "failed soldiers" of the war in heaven. The Eldar used the warp as they pleased and created a "god" while the orks, who are pathetic compared to the original krorks, created Mork and Gork the most powerful things in the immaterial. Thus their newest creation's warp entity, known as the hive mind should make the chaos gods look like ants. It might simply not care that a few cells in its body are controlled by Nurgle in the same way most people don't really care about the cells lost to a pimple. With the affliction ending the second it decides to apply any form of pressure.

    My imagination considering Nurgle-infected-Tyranids: ideas of Tyranids draped in a film of mushy-skin-like-mats of biofilm-yeasts synthesizing previously nonexistent discomforts like itching cringing soreness and cramps; plunging-infections pressurize to burst under softened armor; ulcers fill with pulsing weeping active-decomposers, who unlike rippers, aim for new hosts to partially enter and rot them alive, till docile to either Tyranid control or Nurgle's-service.

      Del Toro gets my vote, but as far as a movie goes it'd have to be self contained. Kinda like Event Horizon ISN'T officially part of 40k, but it wouldn't be a stretch if it was just a story about one of the millions of ships that were lost to the void. Basically something that can easily stand on its own and get reception for what it is, while at the very least feeling "inspired" by 40k. Unfortunately those days of movie making are long dead and if there were a Warhammer live action movie it'd either be Starcraft'd or low budget syfy.

Anything you do would have to shut off there anti warp, and most importatnly, it has to work without reality bending. In other words, work on the laws of physics.
