And dayum, that theme, along with this cinematography makes this ascension as my new favorite one.
No, you 100% should feel bad, Rockwell was corrupted by an addiction he made, however, after talking to HLN-A, he noticed he should've taken a different path, all those years ago

Diana and Mei-Yin would've spent more time together (Diana died on Aberration thanks to Rockwell, later recovered by Homo-Deus Helena and sent to Earth to aid Mei-Yin)
Helena would probably be best friends (notice how she buried what she knew of Rockwell in a grave before he corrupted himself)
and the worst part is
Rockwell knew all this, the second he became Overseer of the Aberrant ARK, but his addiction blinded him!
Talking to HLN-A, a construct of Helena, did bring him to his senses, if only he has listened to Helena
But dying while realizing your mistakes is a bad way to go, such a kind man, blinded by his scientific ambitions
