I had already purchased my copy of Feeding Frenzy on compact disk before this Tonight Show aired. Jimmy Buffett had played "The City" by Mac MacAnally during his tour for the "Off To See The Lizard" tour and I was hoping that it would make it onto a future album. I was ecstatic when I found it on Feeding Frenzy! Another Buffett song called "Pelican Summer Sun" was excellent and never made it to an album which bummed me out. To the best of my knowledge, the only performance of `Pelican Summer Sun' was in Baton Rouge on the "Coconut Telegraph" Tour. I heard that Buffett was going to be on The Tonight Show and I made sure that I got watch it. I was screaming "YES, YES, YES!" as soon as he started playing. The City is my favorite track from the album. He performed it several times in subsequent years at The Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavillion and the song was accompanied by video of Downtown Houston as well as other significant sights of OUR city. Memories to take to my grave. ❤❤❤ Thanks for sharing your video.
Jimmy Buffett was my first concert. 1990 at World Music Theater in Illinois. I wished that I could’ve had a recording of that concert. I was totally stoked to find out that they released a live album of that tour. I still have it. 🤘
My first concert as well! I believe either 1990 or 1991 @ Deer Creek in Noblesville, Indiana. Very sad we lost him this weekend, he allowed this kid to escape from a sometimes sad childhood. Sail on JB!
Great song. Tales From Margaritaville is an awesome album, perhaps even better than his first live album You Had To Be There. Anyhow, the dude and his Coral Reefers always put on a great performance and nowadays I notice that he occasionally pops in for an appearance on Hawaii 5-0. Thanks for posting!
In Aspen one year i had my own band. Jimmy came to play a show. I was hired as SECURITY. Took a BIG bottle of KORBEL 6 STAR BRANDY TO THE STAGE IN FRONT OF EVERYONE! "This is from the guys in my band." Fun night!😎🎶🎶
When burning CD's became popular about 15 years ago, I made a CD of my favorite Buffett songs (12 songs) and the Live version of "In the City" was on there.....so, basically a top 10 song for me. 1. That's my Story and I'm sticking to it (my favorite) 2. Take it Back 3. Floridays 4. Coast of Carolina 5. Apocalypso 6. Remittance Man 7. In the City (Live) 8. Carnival World 9. USS Zydecodesmobile 10. Changing Channels 11. Nautical Wheelers 12. 12 volt man
RIP Jimmy. My fav Buffett song.

One of my first as well. Some friends of mine and I saw him the same year at Groves Stadium in Winston-Salem, NC on July 15th 1990
An awesome song and video with less that 9,000 RUclips views as of this date. That's hard to believe..

Now only 2 comments!Where are the parrot heads hiding?
Taken back by the talent & how his songs put me in the "State of mind". There will never be another JB. I hope he lives to be 150 years old.
