It saddens me everytime I watch Carson on the internet how we've lost so many great talents who were on his show throughout his run on tv. It also shows I'm getting old when people I grew up with are dying. Time stops for no one, not even Jimmy Buffet. Somewhere in heaven he's mixing the margaritas in a blender.
Nothing could be more true. All around me my friends, my heroes, my actors, musicians and more are falling by the wayside.
And enjoying a cheeseburger in paradise.
It is sad that all the great talent of yesteryear is leaving us, leaving us with the pitiful talent of our modern era.
I grew up listening to Jimmy Buffet and loved the stories and songs. I’ll miss him.
agree but if you want to get even more depressed, watch the Larry Sanders show. I swear half the guests are dead now
It's a reminder were here for a good time not a long time RIP Jimmy & Johnny ☮️
Spinning around in circles. Living it day
to day.
Maybe 76 good years
It's really not that
long a stay.
Cowboy in the jungle
I always told my buddy that after a drunk night out the next morning!!! Love you JDC!!😘😘😘🤣🍻

I know a great song
But I don't remember who sings it
Too drunk to see Jimmy Buffett
@@roryschweinfurter4111 The face looks familiar but i can't remember my name ☺️
And still 24 hours maybe 60 good years It’s really not that long a stay. 😢. Miss you Johnny and Jimmy
I remember watching this 42 years ago. Jimmy, you will be missed.
I would be be born two months later but by 1988 a new Parrothead walked the earth!! I thank my parents for introducing me to JB, he has given me 30+ years of joy, I am going to miss him immensely!
You never met him and you're going to miss him? That's sad.

Did we work together
Thanks for the email
What sparkle and a beautiful smile. Thank you Jimmy for all the fun!
Who do you think will play Buffett in the bio-pic. My money is on Matthew McConaughey
He really was so genuine.
Thanks for entertaining us with all your music RIP.
@@sandiburkhardt4044 so much great music.
He'll never be replaced, but there's a bunch of bands ready to pick up the torch. And Tropic Rock will live on
@@jeanniegreenwald8026from 40 years ago and he never seemed to change. Genuine from the heart. Cant help but love and miss him
A very pleasing personality. The boy next door kind of guy. And...
Who sings a song dedicated to his parents? How sweet. All done with those sparkly eyes and laugh lines around his eyes. A real gem in Jimmy Buffet!
A Charming, Lovable Guy....GOD BLESSED US WITH JIMMY BUFFETT to make us happy. May GOD HOLD JIMMY IN THE PALMS OF HIS HANDS!! RIP, dear pirate.
He was my husband knew him in key west
Damn he was a smart man
Well said
So bummed, what a great talent. Summers are happier because of Jimmy’s music and concerts . RIP JB and God bless your family.
I need to listen to more music. I’m 61 and I’ve only heard 2 of his songs that I know of.
Nothing sad about people living a long life! He will he missed, but God missed him and needed him home.
RIP Jimmy
I will always remember It,s 5:00 SOMEWHERE. ❤❤❤ I Always sang it during Karaoke. ( My husband and I). I will miss you Jimmy. RIP ❤❤❤❤ JL
I listened to him when I was a young gentleman I love classical music, hymns and that sort of things but his songs are spiritual and nice Mister.
How cool is it, being able to sing on the Tonight Show for your parents for their anniversary
Can you imagine how proud his folks are? I listened and imagined the couple slow dancing together to this beautiful song
The song of his that rocked me to the core was “A Pirate Looks At Forty”. I must have listened to that 500 times through the years and it still means as much to me today as it did when I turned forty, many years ago.
It's mid-life crisis stuff. All he wanted to be was a pirate, but in the classic Hollywood sense. But he had to settle for 20th century version of pirate and ran drugs, made enough money to buy Miami, he did. Still did not fullfull.
That's a favorite of many of us!
❤
Love it!!
Two legends there. RIP Johnny & Jimmy.
Three legends. Don’t forget Ed.
PUT A SONG OF HIM EATING IN BUFFET LINE AND SINGING !!!
@repentandbelieveinJesusChrist4 I'd rather pray to Jimmy. At least he was real, unlike your imaginary magical sky daddy...
I loved jimmy he is my guru, and I loved Carson too, rip boys
Who?
Johnny Carson definitely appreciated Jimmy Buffett singing "Stars Fell on Alabama" during the airing of this show.
Johnny Carson later commented on how much he loved hearing one of the beautiful older standards for which Jimmy Buffett sang all the verses (Johnny Carson also commented which most singer's don't know) and also to honor of Jimmy Buffet's parent's 39th wedding anniversary which was to occur on the following day. This song obviously touched Johnny Carson. Quite touching.
In the first 7 months after Johnny Carson passed away I saw Jimmy in concert 5 times in 4 states, and he did a wonderful tribute to Johnny that he played on the big screens during his break between sets at all those shows. He spoke of what Johnny meant to him and his career, and the last time they saw each other, well after Johnny retired. Jimmy had just docked his boat at a marina, he said he was walking down the pier heading into town for supplies and here came Johnny walking towards him, having just returned from town with supplies, heading for his own boat, and they sat and chatted for about 30 minutes. Two legends, now both sadly gone.
Cool story about them meeting by chance for the last time. Thanks for sharing that.
Wow 5 concerts in 4 months you are a fan
@@Victor-cr5rr You might want to re-read the comment again.
@@Victor-cr5rr Thanks, but It was 5 times in 4 states over 7 months. :) There were 4 years where I saw him 5 times each, 3 of those were back in the early '90s, it was easier back then because he would do more than one show per tour stop and often on consecutive nights. I finished with about 47 total.
Supplies? Ha!! I Assume you mean dinner and drinks. I can’t imagine either of those 2…especially Johnny getting their own supplies for their boats in the mid nineties.
RIP Jimmy Buffett Thanks for all of the smiles and all of the songs, in the past, now and in the future. I'll miss new songs from Jimmy and the annual concerts (I've attended many and ALWAYS enjoyed them).
Always irreverent, never irrelevant.
A legend never dies :)
One of a kind. Very nice man. I’m sure jimmy and the angels are singing in heaven tonight
I graduated from high school in the 70s. Jimmy Buffett was “no legend”, no icon, no idol. But he was just an equal human being as me who was a highly talented (like some electricians, plumbers, or carpenters) singer that I very much enjoyed listening to and no more.
Poor Jimmy had one too many tequila sunrises, great music and great performer!
A truly unique musician who left a indelible impression on the world we live in ......................
I close my eyes and the sun comes out over the beach and the sea breeze blows across my face...and I smile 😊 remembering all the good people and GOOD TIMES!
THANK YOU Jimmy! RIP PIRATE!
Remember win Jimmy played. show at our college in Florence, Alab fore Free! He wasn't well known,at the Time.

I miss the real “Tonight Show” Jimmy Buffett was a real guy! Thanks for posting 2 iconic Americans! RIP Jimmy and Johnny!

Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel, esp O brien ; 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
A frantic mess.
“Pushing “ jokes 🤮
UN funny.
How did they get hired ? Uggh!
Edit: alright, those latter 3 had a few jokes, but Johnny was smart enough not to push comedy.
@@JohnDoe-jc3cl Stephen Colbert is OK though.
We lost a great musician today and he is up in heaven having margaritas for all us RIP JB
I am toasting him with one tonight!!!😢😢😢
Rest in peace, Jimmy Buffett. If anyone is interested, he, Alan Jackson and George Strait recorded an excellent live album.
I used to have that one

Thanks for sharing …it must be a great listing
@TheRicco1011 You're welcome. It's called "Live at Texas Stadium", and Amazon still has it listed for several sellers. It's a great album!
Rest in Peace 🙏 Jimmy Buffet ❤
R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett
We will miss you 😢
Wow! His extraordinary rendition of “Stars Fell on Alabama” (9:50) puts him in the category of Sinatra, Bennett, and the legendary crooners of old standards. What a treat!
RIP Jimmy. 🌴☀️🦜
Wish Jimmy had an album of standards show tunes!
Sing please
My husband bought the album that had Stars Fell on Alabama on it. It became his favorite song on the album! Rest in peace Jimmy. And rest in peace my wonderful husband. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Blew me away. I remember watching when it aired, but it is only now I realized he was much stronger vocally. I found this after watching Jimmy on Jimmy Fallon explain they started Margaritaville off tempo....but my God he recovered, maybe a bit of nerves at the start, midway through MG he was nailing it and he knew it and became more animated. Also impressed that johnny was aware of the time and wanted to hear another song. I don't remember too many artists being asked to do a second song or go over to Johnny
I just out of nowhere put Stars Fell on Alabama on in my car two nights ago when my 8 year old and I were driving around to find a good spot to see the supermoon. I'm shocked he did this one on Carson. It's the second most shocking thing today, and quite a distant second. RIP Jimmy Buffett.
The death of Buffett has hit me hard! I did not know he was I’ll. This post makes me realize why Jimmy Buffet was so loved by so many! The world is in mourning!
He brought so much joy to the world....thank you especially for "Come Monday"......my favorite....🙏🏻💚💛
My favorite too ❤
My karaoke go to along with Magaritaville
"I blew out my flip flop" is one of the best lines in American music history tbh RIP JAMES WILLIAM BUFFETT
The new listers ask: What's a pop top?
Pop top - term for soda
A pop top is the metal piece pulled off the older soda and beer cans. Left you with a curled piece of metal that would not be fun to land on with a bare foot.
What a Sweet Man!! I’m in tears, you will be missed Jimmy.
RIP Jimmy Buffett. Had alot of good times at the concerts over the years.
RIP Jimmy, thanks for the years of memories and laughs. Wrinkles only go where the smiles have been. Taught me a lot.
One of my favorite lines of his! He paraphrased mark Twain on that one. I was fortunate to see him many, many times live. Made the Jumbotron partying in Burgett’s Town, partied with the tour’s truck drivers and he signed my coconut bra at a cheeseburger in paradise opening… so many good memories …😢
Oh. I love that. He was always smiling. He will be missed.
Music doesn't get any better then this rest in peace jimmy
I’ve played this song live more than once..It never gets old..Jimmy is a true entertainer
It's hard to take in that he has left us.
I have followed his music since the 1970's -
I am proud to be a parrothead 🦜
RIP Jimmy - Fins Up 🦈
My head is still spinning. It just doesn’t register
In The Mid 70s , Jimmy dropped by our college and put on a show, for free, in Florence, ALABAMA, he wasn't as well known at the time but he was fun! W loved you Jimmy and always will!

I can't imagine no more Jimmy Buffett concerts. Gone but never forgotten.
Yeah, Jimmy was my 1st concert in 77 with the Eagles at the Miami Baseball Stadium, 11 teens in a Vega to get there, got grounded for going but was oh so worth it🍹🏴☠️🍹
trying to imagine the eleven teenagers in a Vega……😂😂😂🤣👍
Heartbroken
1 Sept 2023, Rest In Peace Jimmy.. Thanks for the many decades of great musuc♥️
All the beautiful words from all the fans. Mr. Buffett was truly loved. What better tribute can a man ask for.
Stars Fell on Alabama, no tears are falling on Alabama. [The harmonica player is top notch!]
Harmonica played by "Fingers" Taylor. Long time Coral Reefer.
Guess everyone remembers where they were when they heard their first Jimmy Buffett song. I was on the first sailboat I owned and it was on a CD left on the boat. He wrote produced performed and created dozens of albums. He had that star quality and charisma that draws people to him. Enjoyed his books and wisdom which was profoumd.
I remember when he was a local singer in Key West.....
I was on a sailboat going from Red Hook, USVI to White Bay, BVI headed for the Soggy Dollar Bar and the owners were playing 'Margaritaville' on the boat's stereo. Great memories!
Sure do....I was 19 years young, on a Blackbeard's Cruises dive boat out of Miami headed toward Bimini. Rest Easy Captain Fun. Lost a friend I never met....sigh.
Yep! We all did! Sigh!@@pl6035
I miss them soo very much😢
We are truly going to miss you. Thanks for a lifetime of great music.
Didn’t have one Jimmy Buffet album to my name. Bought Jimmy Buffet LIVE today. Amazed at his versatility of music…
That's what you get for not listening to us. You should get his entire discography. All 50 albums
Never understood wht people run out and buys some ones record when they die .
No pressure you don’t have to understand. Musicians pass on. Music lives on. Music listened posthumously is more reflective in experience.
@@andygrenn680 That has got to be one of the most ridiculous statements Ive ever read LOL
@@innis52carra I’ll take your remark as a compliment. Cue the music. Louder, louder…
I was not a direct fan, but his music was always in the tapestry of my life. RIP Mr Buffett. A legend never dies...
What a life this guy led. It sucks hes gone now but very very few of us live a journey like this.
I remember this show. Of all the tributes, this one brought tears to my eyes. So easy to listen to.❤🎉
Was looking at a youtube clip, source said Paul McCartney visited Buffetts family and performed for them last week, while Jimmy was in hospice care last Monday.
What did he pass away from ?
@@FMR-xn7on Skin Cancer. It was diagnosed 4 years ago.

Yep, got some good nudges from "Uncle" Warren Buffet
I saw photo of the two Buffetts discussing their family tree.
@@pjstar2009 Actually, a DNA test they both took showed they were not related. Prior to this, I thought they were too.
@@tagnut1952 that why I put it in quotes! He joked about it and Warren Buffet seemed to enjoy getting him started on his adventures and Jimmy did well, therefore, "Uncle" Warren!

Jimmy lived an amazing life! I wonder if realized when he did the tonight show how much of a cultural force he would be in the music industry during his career? I don't know about anyone else; he left a legacy for me that I do my best to emulate the lifestyle of his songs almost every day in some way! Like he said in his song…
“It’s Been A Lovely Cruise.”
SImply outstanding arrangement of "Stars Fell On Alabama", particularly the vocals and the bass. Buffett was a very accomplished performer as well as businessman.

at the beach, the pool, under the palms or just hanging on a chair in the backyard. RIP Jimmy
Jimmy and Johnny. Gone but not forgotten. R. I. P.
I'm sad today. I don't recall anyone with a brain ever saying anything negative about Jimmy Buffett.
My bad I didn't read your statement right
He was a hack. A decent businessman but not a great singer writer or musician. He catered to an audience of drunken lost simpletons always searching for 5 pm cocktails. Not wearing sunscreen killed the guy sadly 😢. I morn his loss but not his artistry. He will be forgotten once his drunken audience wakes up from their hangovers
What a horrible, unkind thing to say.

Stars Fell On Alabama….sublime Jimmy! Only gone five days now and my heart won’t stop aching. I will miss you until the day I die!!!
I watched this his first Johnny Carson appearance the night it premiered in 1981 from the tv lounge of my dormitory my freshman year at college. I then saw Jimmy Buffett live in concert for the first time two months after this show at Merriweather Post Pavilion which he mentioned during the interview with Johnny. Having the album, "Coconut Telegraph", I knew this song, "Stars Fell on Alabama when he sang it. And one last thought, I'm reminded of one of my last conversations with my grand mom, talking over the phone we and sang the song, "Stars Fell On Alabama" to each other. One clip with so many memories.
