I'm beginning to think most new 92 fans are because of RE in contrast to the vets who became a fan of it from standard issue. I finally got my hands on one, never thought of owning a gun until recently...things getting are crazier by the year. 😅
Same! I started loving the 92 because of Resident Evil as well. I have a 92X Performance, M9A1 that I keep bedside, and now the dual tone 92xi. So far, I love it and even if anything goes wrong, I'll be able to fix it because I know these guns inside and out. If you want to put a red dot on there, look at d-lahhh designs. He makes a flush plate that allows the optic to sit right on top of the slide instead of the inch thick plate Beretta makes.
I LOVE Berettas! The first handgun I purchased back in 1990 was a Taurus 92 just because I was broke but really wanted the Beretta... The frame mounted safety is a welcome option. The slide mounted safety has always been the only thing I dislike about any of my Beretta guns. There is nothing that compares to the action smoothness of Berettas; it's like buttered glass. I'm picking up an XI tomorrow, can't wait! Thanks for the review.
Got mine a few weeks ago swapped out the trigger and hammer and got the double action function back and trigger pull still feels great. Great video guys keep it up!
@@mrbee145I'm still learning about hammer fired pistols. Why convert to a G? My understanding thus far is that the X variants can be in safe or not. Whereas the G there is no safe. Can't you just keep holster the X without the safety engaged and pretty much act like the G? Or am I missing something?
@@KnightsLegion226people believe that they will accidentally turn on the safety in a urgent situation. Making the gun unusable. They also believe that the heavy double action pull and the hammer resting on the firing pin is the safest version a gun can be in.
That intro was EXACTLY what I wanted to see!!!👏🏼 I was looking at this Beretta for some time and plan on going to my local gun shop to get a hands on look. Knowing this was Jill Valentines primary makes it all the more appealing, got through some tight encounters together w/that Beretta.
The takedown wear is normal, it's on any of mine that have been taken down more than a few times. Very tight piece. These are neat, I like the DASA LTT versions the best. I am thinking they'll be able to clean this up to closer to a 1911 feel than it came with and intended to be. The pull and reset surprised me, the wrong way.
I just acquired a 92xi.. Not the Launch Edition, but I hope to get some wood grips to fit. Almost didn't buy it. I'll tell you why.. Shipping grease. It made the trigger feel odd at the store when trying it out.. Couldn't feel the reset. At all. But after breaking it down, I saw all the grease (Beretta, can't be doing all the shipping grease). After a good scrubbing, I felt the short reset. Thankfully. But it shoots like a dream. I like that they brought back a SAO. I like it better than the performance. Feels better. I don't know exactly why. But to me, it does.
Good to know. Literally just got back from looking at mine at the shop while I wait the 5 day mediatory “cool off period” and I was thinking about sending it back because I barely feel the reset at all. after reading this and thinking about it, definitely has a too much grease feeling.
My evolution in this platform started with the Taurus PT-92. I really liked the frame mounted safety but the gun itself had little aftermarket support. When the GTS came out.. it was on. Sold my PT-92 and had my GTS in 4 weeks. Everything I ever wanted for my Taurus is now on the GTS. I even like "G" style decocker better than I imagined. Shorten the intro btw.
I’m glad you didn’t mount a red dot sight to that beautiful pistol. I love red dots, but they ruin the classic lines of the Beretta. The LTT version is still my favorite.
I dig it....would love to grab one..i love my A1....great pistol. I own several pistols, 6 shooters, plastic wonders...my favs are the all metal guns, my beretta is my (go too)...,my 1911 Kimber Rapide is very high on my favorite list....my plastic wonders are my least favorite...had 2 glocks....dependable piece, but they feel like a toy in comparison to the Itallion Stallion Beretta....i sold both the Glocks...replaced them with the Kimber Rapide.....beretta is a straight up master piece...go buy one...great buy for the price point
Understood, but Canik supplies several plates you might need for their guns. Surely Beretta can include the plate, or plates of your choice. Without the plate, it would be a deal breaker. More leg work I would have to do to get the plate. @@MrSchmitty133
I love the A3 and A4 G models but I’m also big on 1911’s. I purchased the XI and love it but it needs texture on the safety levers. That is the only thing I would recommend.
I have a beretta 92g elite compact LTT and have the same takedown mark. Sad, they are only doing a limited run of that silver color. I'd certainly pick one up if I ever found one.
@thegatman I do like it, although I would recommend maybe the centurion or full size. The grip is just a tad too short for most people, so the magazine is nessasary for a full grip. But I personally like compacts so for me it's not a big deal. Also, the decocker on the slide is annoying, but not a deal breaker.
I'll admit I own both of them. I got the limited edition first an loved it so much needed the standard too. Still weird they do those plastic guide rods but easy replacement.
If its a g model beretta 92 series I can live with it being slide mounted if it has to have a safety like the XI then yeah frame mounted is the way to go.
Man I keep hearing people on Beretta subreddit say they had burs scratch the paint on the barrel. Gallatin DOES in fact have poor QC smh. I wonder why thought!
Definitely prefer SA/SA but I guess more options don’t hurt. Also, frame mounted safeties aren’t the future of Berettas, they’re their past. The pretty much only make sense on SAO guns which aren’t the default standard for good reasons.
What good reason is that? Cocked and locked has been a thing for years. That’s how every 1911 is carried. Frame mounted safeties are in a superior position to the slide mounted one. That isn’t really debated. Slide mounted safeties were berettas biggest “i love them except for this..” topic. HK has been running da/sa or sao on frame mounted safeties for decades.
Typical beretta, almost knocked it out of the park. Put a metal trigger shoe, guide rod, and safety on this exact gun and it’s pretty close to perfect. Trigger needs to be lightened up a bit though for a single action. They seriously need someone running that place that actually knows wtf people want. The new cheetah would a been sick too if they’d a just chambered it 9 super carry instead of freaking .380….
My mag release was very stiff also, I removed it and carefully lightly sanded the inner walls where it goes and then oiled it up. It's a bit better now. My guess was there was a thick coating of the cerakote finish making it very snug. Eventually I would love to swap it out for a metal mag release.
They have to get rid of those cast slides and be forged and machined from solid stock and start using Melanite finish before I will mess with this brand again. No slag or rough finish or shitty finish work at that price point.
Small note. Sunglasses might be Cool but they are not safety glasses not rated as such. Something hits it you will need a spare eye. And they are kinda not obtainable.
Does the dovetail on your front sight look off a bit? The left side of mine is wider than the right. The front sight was also slightly off center on mine.
The dove tails front and rear are meant to be installed from the left hand side if looking from the the back of the slide. Install left to right. Uninstal right to left. Hence the dove tail being wider on the left side.

This is the cheapest made Beretta I have ever felt. The finish is not holding up well on my 92XI SAO. It’s rubbing off due to use and exposing bare metal and has less than 300 rounds. Sights, mag release, magazine base plate all feel like cheap thin plastic. I own several Berettas 92x Performance, Wilson Combat Berettas and even the Taurus PT99 and by far this new 92XI SAO feels cheap. You can get way more quality with other models. Does it stay hammer back when you put the safety on? Or does the safety act like the GTS and drop the hammer?
