Excellent video, thank you. I am working on replacing the 25 year old builder grade light fixtures in my home. I am the 4th owner, and none of the previous owners bothered. I am not visual or a DIYer, so I have had professional help, but it is still one of the least expensive upgrades you can make. The young electrician (who is in a lot of homes) and I have both been impressed with the improvement.
While clutter and too many things stuffed in a room is not fun to look at. As a buyer, I know those things are not going to be there when they move out. Replacing fixtures is a choice. If you like what you have, leave them there. Paint your house what colours you like - you live there. Put up what you like (and can afford) for window treatments. You live there, not a designer. Ill lit rooms are a pain, but sometimes you have do what you can afford to do to make the lighting better. Rewiring and hanging overhead fixtures may not be in your budget. It's your house, not a designers. You don't live in a magazine. Do what you want as you can afford to. While these tips are good ones overall, I really dislike labeling things as 'looks cheap' or a 'mistake'. If you are selling your home, you decide how far you want to take 'fixing it up' for sale. I am seriously tired of hearing people say they don't like green in the bedroom, so they won't buy the house. Sellers are not there to decorate THEIR home for YOUR taste. No matter what you do, some buyer will pass on your house because the door opens the wrong way, or you have the 'wrong' coffee maker on the counter.
When I was viewing properties to buy, I was put off by clutter, and overwhelmingly the smell of dog! Whilst some would say, it's your house, do what you want to it, I would say that if you are serious about selling, then you will need to get rid of clutter, and give it a good clean up all round, and make it smell nice!! Good video and good advice 😊
Nice tips. 1) Colour combination 60/30/10 2) Need 1 ecent wall in room must. 3) curtain shall from ceiling look luxurious 3) bathroom shall get paet of good interior. Poor planningnof bathroom is not acceptable for good interior. 4) layered lighting is most important 4k (natural)
No everyone likes curtains from ceiling to floor. Such those with children and pets. Some places still have baseboard heaters. Some of us just don't like it, period. You don't *need* an accent wall in a room. That is a choice and personal taste. Just everything else on your list and in this video.
Looking at my condo...I have those ceiling fixture...I like but I did update them back in 2011...I like the light fixture you showed. I just have find 7 of them along with 8 mini blinds...my curtain are neutral solid color panels with the proper length...thank for the tips!
Thank you. I think storage is a serious challenge and a serious "must" for every home. However, gray and white are not great tones to have in a home. I've always identified those tones as institutional and don't leave a warm and inviting space but maybe that's just my take on them! Other neutrals work just as well with greater personality. Just my opinion though! Great job!
Good point! I have recently started to lean more towards lighter shades of beige rather than grey when looking for a neutral colour. Even white with a yellow-ish undertone. I think it’s the “warmth” that feels good as opposed to the cold feeling from grey
and peoples idea of "cheap" is a huge spectrum. For me there is nothing worse than "faux" gold accessories and faux marbling. Its like you're trying to look affluent and failing.
Enjoyable video! You have a nice presentation style and personality, and make good points. I’d love to see a video about coordinating the style of the fixtures you might put in a living room. If you need overhead, free-standing and/or table lamps , what would be some interesting combinations to try? Many thanks!
I like your point about outdated lighting signifying a lack of investment - as if the house isn’t worth investing in! I didn’t completely agree about the point about paint, I think bright colours can look rich if the colour scheme is fully leant into. Fully committing to a bright/maximalist scheme can make a home look well designed!
I do agree with you on that! And like I said in the video, if someone knows what they’re doing with the colour scheme, dark colours can look very sophisticated.

I’m so glad! It’s actually amazing how much of a difference it makes!
Yes, I think cheap is a bit harsh, outdated is more appropriate in these cases.
I loved this video. It was very concise and helpful. So well presented too. I look forward to more.
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful 😊
Me to i would love to change and buy new stuff but it's to expensive I love your idea thanks for sharing

Correction @2:14 minute of the video: "GOD IS IN DETAILS" and the Devil is only in Clutter and Chaos. God bless your designs.

Can you explain what you mean by #3?

Oops! Saw some of those thar I'm quilt of! Thanks for this video. I can see exactly the difference your suggestions will make.
Glad it was helpful! ❤️
I agree clutter isn’t good, but I also think extreme minimalism makes a house look like an ikea starter home- completely lacking character.
I agree! Extreme end of anything is not good
Great video. I love your personality.
Thanks so much! ❤️
When I moved into my house the first thing I did was changing all the light fixtures. I only paint bold colors in young boy and girls room.
Luv your scarf
Thanks for the video

Sounds great! One change at a time. There’s never a need to rush

Sometimes "cheap" is the subconscious impression people take in when they see a home 😬 ever wonder why?

@@dib3385 loll very true! I feel the same way about designer coffee table books in an otherwise regular home
Really like the video and points you make 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️

Great suggestion! Adding that to my list of topics I wanna cover

Glad you liked it!
Hope it’s not expensive 😢
It’s not ❤️
Great video ❤
Thank you! 😊
Hi can u pls do a house tour
Maybe one day 👀
I like flush mount boob lights. They stay clean. As an older person, less maintenance is important.
That’s fair! 🤔
