Great vid and thank you for being so honest! Often on top ten Christmas destinations Tallin is on the list. I’m sure Estonia has some beautiful places to see but the Christmas markets in Tallin are pretty small and very over priced. Is it really worth going all that way when so many places have huge Christmas markets and much more to offer?
Tallinn Christmas market has good marketing that's why you see it in the recommendations. But that's it. Also huge market doesn't always mean better. Small can be also be a pleasant experience if nicely done. In Christmas market business it's more about the organizers and who do they let in to participate. I suggest checking out Christmas market in Riga. Much more worth it!
Best place I've been for a wonderful Christmas experience Vienna has 8 Christmas markets not far from each other and great locations Oslo would come 2nd
I visited Tallinn Christmas markets in the first week of January 2024 (it's final week). Agree on all points about the food and drink - very expensive and same-same. Was disappointed that the standing heaters there weren't turned on. It was hard to keep hands warm while eating, especially during the terrible cold snap at the time. I didn't know about the app you mentioned. When I was there, there was a separate stall near the stage for cup return to get the 2€ back in cash. Perhaps earlier on in the season, organisers realised how frustrating the app was and reverted to the cash returns as the market progressed.
Just got back from Tallinn, yes I have to agree with you food was a ripoff, nearly every stall selling Glogi or Chinese woollen scarves socks gloves , also went to helsinki bit more variety in food but everything pricey . Estonia and Finland are great places to visit but not their Christmas markets shame

Thank you for the candid comments on the shopping
It's sad to see so much potential.. hope the market realises it's better to stay true to it's roots in the next years
Good to know! Thanks for the T!

Thanks for your insight! Have you visited any other European Christmas markets that you enjoyed?
