    Summary
    ~~~~~
    If you've had difficulty getting CEMU up and working with the Steam Deck, then you're not alone. Even when we install it through the EmuDeck toolkit, which is supposed to do all of the configuration work for us, sometimes things just aren't done properly and the emulator won't detect button presses or thumbstick movement when you first open it up.
    #steamdeck #steamdeckoled #steamos #steam #valve #cemu #emulation
    So today I'll be showing you how to get CEMU setup properly on the Steam Deck so that it works with our built-in gamepad here.
    This video assumes you already have CEMU installed. I used EmuDeck to install it on my Steam Deck here, but you could do this manually if you'd like. I'll leave a link to my EmuDeck video
    The first thing we're going to do here is reboot over into Desktop Mode. This is required because CEMU seems to be saving settings hen you close the Settings box. And we're unable to see this while using the Deck UI. Maybe in future updates this will be changed but for now, let's just head into Desktop Mode.
    Let's go ahead and open up Steam and then open up Cemu from there.
    If you haven't added CEMU as a non-Steam game then now is the time to do so. We want it to leverage the built-in controller feature of Steam.
    So you'll want to click the controller icon over here.
    Now view the layout to make sure everything seems correct.
    I also recommend clicking onto this section here.
    And then picking the EmuDeck CEMU template. There are even some community layouts you can experiment with if you'd like.
    Just make sure that when you view it, your buttons are assigned where you want them to be.
    You could even pause this screen here and mirror this configuration on your own Steam Deck from the Edit Layout section.
    With that done, we're going to launch CEMU from Steam while it is in Desktop Mode.
    Then we're going to click the Options menu up here.
    So that we can bring up the Input Settings window for CEMU.
    Now you need to check the Emulated Controller box here and make sure the Wii U Gamepad option is selected.
    With this done, I recommend checking to see if the buttons here automatically populate. If they don't, you can manually assign them yourself.
    I have seen guides suggest that you change the option in the Controller field to the one labeled xinput.
    However, that hasn't been needed in my situation.
    So I'll leave this set to DSUController here, but if you have issues getting it working on your Steam Deck, try changing it to xinput instead.
    Now you will need to save this setup as a profile here, so click the save button after you have given it a name.
    Now we can press X on this window here and CEMU will finally save these settings for us.
    We'll close out of CEMU from here as well.
    And then reboot from Desktop Mode and back into Gaming Mode.
    Go ahead and load up CEMU from your non-Steam game library so you can test everything out.
    Oh my god. Controls work within Emudeck, but not for all the individual Wii U games I've added as non steam games. Also, when in emudeck the graphics settings seem very different (can't get a steady frame rate like I had with the individual non steam game I have for BOTW). It's amazing how difficult this stuff can be.
    I've got control back! In my case I think I screwed up by choosing Cemu proton experimental at installation. If I use regular Cemu I can do everything I want (have controls, pretty much locked at 45fps with great frame pacing, play using non steam game way, etc). Within Cemu proton I can't get buttons to work at all.
    Emudeck-Cemu isn’t on my steam deck anymore. I’m having no luck keeping the buttons mapped on cemu. Even if I save the profile it disappears as soon as I close cemu.       @@nanashi5139 it definitely was a pain in the a$$. There was times I thought I lost everything but I didn’t. It was all still there. You’ll also have to Rescrape your games. It’s ok to scream to the sky at times but it works now. You’ll also have to use a different emulator for your 3DS games. But they have one ready to go. Just follow the RUclips videos for the latest on installing. Take your time and once it’s back to normal your cemu controls will automatically fix itself. It takes time and I tried everything to fix the issues and that was the best I could do and it worked. Oh and sorry you will lose any saves you have. I’m sure there are ways around it but I’m no tech genius. I took the hit and it works.
      Hey so I got everything working and wanted to share in case it works for u too. On Cemu in the input settings first controller always needs to be conf as Profile: Deck-Gamepad-Gyro
      Emulated controller: "Wii U gamepad"
      Controller "Steam Virtual Gamepad (SDLController)" (you need to click the little + to add it if it's not on the list). And click "save" at the top.
      Then controller 2 should always be Profile: "Deck-P1" and "Wii U Pro Controller" then in Controller you click the + (make sure your controller is connected to the Deck's bluetooth or whatever) and add it as a SDLController, your controller should appear there and click save. Then just do the same with controller 3 and 4 if you want to add P2 and P3 controllers. And DO NOT make a custom conf for each game, leave it blank. On Game Mode before hitting "play" click on the controller thingy at the bottom and make sure Steam Input is disabled for the external controllers you're gonna use.
      And that's it, that's what got everything working for me. Hope it helps anyone.
    Anyone know how to fix the Cemu trigger issue where it sees both on the same axis? Wind waker can’t be played unless each trigger has a unique axis. Some fixes state you need to add files and remap using xinput, is this true?
    Edit: If others notice this issue, the newest version of Emudeck's X-input is up to date and does NOT need the additional files. Go in to Cemu and under input, change it to x-input. You can now use both control sticks independently of one another as they will be recognized as two different inputs)
