I’m very interested in this lens. I’ve been a nothing but Nikkor lens photographer since the 1990s unless there wasn’t a Nikkor for the job. Now in the Z space, I have two non-Nikkors, but they fit that rule: a 7Artisans 10mm f/2.8 full-frame fish eye and the Viltrox 75/1.2 Pro DX lens which I pretty much only use on my Z9 since I’m left with 19.5mp.
But I’m considering selling my Z 85/1.8 and replacing it with this. I don’t know why I’m attracted to the Sirui lenses even though they don’t have the same image quality.
I’m also thinking about selling my Z 20/1.8 to get the Viltrox 16/1.8.

I’ve already got the full frame autofocus Meike 85 mm F1.4 Z mount and at F1.8 or more had great portrait results .. similar price to this lens although I can see $70 reduction on Amazon currently .. For my amateur use fits my needs perfectly and without breaking the bank . This lens looks smaller which is a good plus ..

Haven’t tried the Meike yet. They reached out for me to review their lenses but haven’t had a chance to try them so far. Yes the size of this one is very attractive. Easier carry

All the f1.2 offerings from Sirui seem to be geared toward APSC from Nikon’s Z mount lineup. I was looking for an 85mm f1.2 lens, either the older Canon version with the megadap adapter for my Z9 or buy the Canon R5 Mark II and the RF85mm f1.2 (completely different system that will cost over $7000) because I recently sold the Nikon Z85mm f1.2 and the Z135mm Plena after playing with them for 30 seconds respectively, then in disgust tossing them in the trash can where they lay for over 30 days (in the process preventing me from getting a full refund from B&H ….ooooops!) Finally dumped both of those lenses into the B&H Used Dept. and got less than half the money back on each lens but didn’t care. Great image quality from both lenses, I’ll admit. However the sheer size and copious amounts of plastic that the ENEMIES - posing as Nikon employees- WITHIN THE FACTORIES OF NIKON put into making these hideous looking torpedoes completely turned me off from wanting to own them. Good thing I didn’t also buy the Z50mm f1.2. What finally convinced me to look for adapters to use with SENSIBLY SIZED and AESTHETICALLY PLEASING third party lenses on the Z9 was the latest ABSURD roll out of the Nikon Z35mm f1.8 S lens and the equally ABSURD Z50mm f1.8 S lens, both of premium build quality coming out first and then later the CHEAPER versions of the same two lenses with more desirable f1.4 apertures. I LOVE the Z9, so much so that I recently purchased the Nikon FTZ II adapter and the Nikkor AF S35mm f1.4G lens which I thoroughly enjoying using. But back to the 85mm. While at B&H last week I slapped on the Canon EF85mm f1.2 L II via the Megadap adapter (thank you Mr. Tonelli for your video featuring this very adapter and the Canon EF50mm f1.2 L - which gave me the idea to use the Canon 85mm f1.2 L II on the Nikon Z9) and then realized that the Canon EF85mm f1.2 L II was really slow on the Z9. Then again it’s been known for this. Who cares. It looks gorgeous on the Z9 and it works. It’s not a sports lens anyways. I was hoping Sigma would come out with an 85mm f1.2 for Sony like they did with their recent 50mm f1.2 ART lens that one can use with the megadap for the Z mount. (Sigma most likely won’t make an 85 1.2 for Nikon’s Z mount.

The copy I got was SOOO tight that it took me 20mins to remove this lens from my lens mount. I shouldn't have not continued to mount it in the 1st place the moment I felt the tightness when I was installing it. Sirui's customer service did acknowledge that they had "issues" (After checking with our team we understand the challenges posed by the Z-mount size variations among different camera models, which can differ significantly).
Returned and refunded. I rated this lens 1 star in their website but my review was deleted almost immediately. Never again Sirui. Will just stick with Viltrox.

To be fair, no auto focus lenses are future proof. I've had a couple af motors fail on both nikon AF-D and G lenses. Its not exactly cheap to repair either. If you want future proof lenses, buy manual focus lenses. They will outlast all of us. This thing is alright for $500, best part is you can order it now and start using it to your hearts content 😊
