Moment of silence for this Railroad evolution. I would like to say some words. You served us well, You are what started it all. You are the reason we are here today. You are the last of your kind, And you Served well. You served _Us_ well. You will always be remembered, and never forgotten. May you Rest in peace, Delhi CO Wig wag.
Miss the old wig wag on my street, growing up. Well maybe not so much. Kids across the tracks would mess with it and sometimes it would be stuck on for days.
It’s disappointing that the wig wag signal was taken off. At least you got six nice shots of them! Including that incredible one with Amtrak Heritage unit 145 and the private car on the same train!
Why did they get rid of it? This crossing has very low traffic, so I don’t see why they needed to replace it. If only we protested the replacement of this beloved wigwag!
Its a real shame that those people are replacing it. At least I been to Delhi to see that Wig Wag. But I did not see a train come sadly.. Next time I will come to more Wig Wags that are in service..
It's not dead yet! Go see it! It's getting close: shunt boxes and three of four shunt rails have been installed. There is also some work to do at both ends of WSS Delhi. It could be a while before it is forked lifted out. Consider fly to Denver and make the beautiful drive down to this time capsule. Check the Southwest Chief schedules; they are the only train here.
Remember Semaphores are on 3 Subdivisions and 2 railroads. Semaphores are located on the BNSF Raton Sub which ends in Las Vegas, NM and the Glorieta Sub which begins at Las Vegas, and ends at Lamy. The NMRX Albuquerque Sub begins at Lamy and ends at Belen.
@@donavonrobbins1908 This is in the middle of nowhere. The only reason people come here is to film the wig wag. There’s no service out here. Vandalism isn’t a worry. I think they could’ve left jt alone
Thanks to railroads and modernization history has been ruined yet again. I find it hard to be a railfan nowadays as I really don’t support any railroad corporations anymore. I like trains but I don’t like the corporate people that run them.
I tell ya....I get the eeebeegeebees watching trains going that fast. I find it hard to trust the safeness of everything involved in keeping things safe. gee, I just cringe.....
I'm 71, I grew up with wig wags all over the place. I'm glad this one is going to a museum. BNSF did a good job of maintaining it. 80 yrs of service.
Yeah

Thanks so much for sharing this great video. The wig-wags are an icon of the years gone bye. Not sure how many of them are left.
great catches and video of this Wig Wag. final yfarwell years
It’s to sad that it’s going to be replaced 😢...please let us know what museum it goes to!
I’ve been told the Colorado Railroad Museum
I always though Wig Wag signals caught one's attention much better than flashing lights because of them moving.
It seems a single wig-wag of that type would be easier to miss than modern crossing flashers.
I give my solute to this piece of history. You served well.
would love to have an exact model of this wig-wag.

I want to see the new crossing.
RIP lil wig-wag...

The Wigwag Siganl had been taken away now
The construction workers gonna put new railroad crossing signals in County Rd. 88 Delhi, CO
How much longer are the semaphores going to be there? How many miles of the territory are even signaled by semaphores?
Semaphores will be replaced as needed and funding is available. Amtrak paid for the removal of the semaphores in Los Cerillos, NM.

@@SouthwestRailroadPhotography I thought the Rail Runner had all the semaphores on the Albuquerque Sub removed.

It’s getting replaced soon? I hope not!
It is unfortunately, see my recent on location video. Wiring, signal box and signal bases are installed and ready to go.
@@SouthwestRailroadPhotography It will be preserved at the Colorado Railroad Museum
If left alone, it would be subject to vandalism. The one I mentioned in my earlier post got messed with a lot. But it was in a city neighborhood.

Why? Common sense dictates, cars slow down and look both ways before crossing. Simple, no?
