It's stupid to say "he wasn't truly happy", he had authentic moments of pure joy and extazy that you can associate to real happiness. You can feel this positive energy in a lot of songs he made ; if he hadn't found sometimes real happiness in his life, he would never have been able to write such music. But, of course, this joy and happiness weren't permanent ; he also had his moments of pure loneliness and pain, for sure. This song has the same vibe as It's a Hard Life: loneliness and emptiness among abundance and company. Both songs came out a year apart only, 1984-85. I remember when I was a kid around 7 I used to hum to this song. I grew up in an Spanish speaking country so I never knew what the singer was saying but I absolutely love the song. It got stuck in my head all these year. I had no ways of looking on youtube or google cuz I had not a single phrase or something to start the search . Anyways, at a friends house I saw this google hum app (i was unaware it existed) and the concept was simple. hum or whistle and the app will guess the song. I did that: "da da da da da da da dAaAa da da.. and so on" and then this song came up. Im so happy that finally after all these years Im able to hear it again. My 6yo daughter also loves it. I am, and will be a big fan of Freddie and Queen. In this video, you can see the very essence of his being, his desires, his lifestyle. He loved to sing, to party in his way, that rare can. This was the time when he briefly split from Queen. I guess he simply needed some rest from tours, concerts, business and all. He needed a break, to be "on his own" for a bit. We all wanted that, sooner or later. Some will judge him, some will be jealous, but he loved to live, he enjoyed his life in full capacity that was given to him. Who can say today the same? Later the Queen was whole again, and lasted to the very end. Freddie inspires me, as a man who sung until the very day he died. Some say, his last song was "Show must go on", which was released short after his death. Even he was seriously ill and weak, he used every atom of his strength to make one last song. I'll say once again: Rest in peace, Freddie.

I remember when I was a kid around 7 I used to hum to this song. I grew up in an Spanish speaking country so I never knew what the singer was saying but I absolutely love the song. It got stuck in my head all these year. I had no ways of looking on youtube or google cuz I had not a single phrase or something to start the search . Anyways, at a friends house I saw this google hum app (i was unaware it existed) and the concept was simple. hum or whistle and the app will guess the song. I did that: "da da da da da da da dAaAa da da.. and so on" and then this song came up. Im so happy that finally after all these years Im able to hear it again. My 6yo daughter also loves it. Just wanted to share this.

I am, and will be a big fan of Freddie and Queen. In this video, you can see the very essence of his being, his desires, his lifestyle. He loved to sing, to party in his way, that rare can. This was the time when he briefly split from Queen. I guess he simply needed some rest from tours, concerts, business and all. He needed a break, to be "on his own" for a bit. We all wanted that, sooner or later. Some will judge him, some will be jealous, but he loved to live, he enjoyed his life in full capacity that was given to him. Who can say today the same? Later the Queen was whole again, and lasted to the very end. Freddie inspires me, as a man who sung until the very day he died. Some say, his last song was "Show must go on", which was released short after his death. Even he was seriously ill and weak, he used every atom of his strength to make one last song. I'll say once again: Rest in peace, Freddie.
