I remembered when the Taster Cut of Baby John (2024) came and Suraj Kumar said that "this movie will represent Rajpal Yadav in a way that we haven't seen before", my honest reaction was "Fuh! That isn't going to happen, he's going to be the same comic relief just like from the original" and I'm happy to say that I'm wrong 🥹 You Win Suraj Bhai 🔥

Honestly, *Baby John* was a quite entertaining movie with good acting, but people will still hate it because it's a remake, but it had many changes. Even Atlee said new things were shown in *Baby John*.

However, by understanding these key elements, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the power and impact of mass cinema.
What makes a mass film good ? Very underrated opinion but its music and dialogues. for the mass to remember the film music helps a lot .. no doubt cast plays a major role and all the other aspects of the film but music is a thing which you remember subconsciously and leave a lasting impact .. for example when pushpa 1 was released.. the music reaches more people than the film .. like shrivali , oo antava .. and also the bgm and dialogues like mein jukhega nahi .
People will praise a mass film like Animal,Pushpa and Kabir Singh with a problematic protagonist with zero takeaways from his personality but will hate a clean character like Baby John.
Since the first look came out, this was promising. A mass movie is better with appropriate use of comedy and action however a good story theme is needed. Some good examples are 3 idiots, Chennai express, sultan and bajrangi bhaijaan. In terms of south cinema, lokesh's movies are good mass entertainer like Vikram, Leo. Making a mass movie part of a universe also elevates the experience like it did for Pathan and Leo. Haven't seen baby John but if it is somehow linked to Jawan universe it will make it interesting

What makes a good mass film ? 1)larger than life hero Without the larger than life hero mass film is incomplete 2)strong villian In mass films there is best combo between and larger than life hero and strong villian because it's uplift the experiance. 3)Backround score Background score is the spine of the film it helps to make a next level mass masala intertainment
A good mass film thrives on raw emotion, combining a universally relatable story with larger-than-life moments that spark collective euphoria, while blending unpredictable twists, iconic dialogues, and a protagonist who embodies audacious hope.
A good mass film? From a cinephile perspective there are many factors, but on a mass perspective there are few which are extremely important. First and mostly the *background music*... most mass actions are remembered by their background music and song in the film. An example of this being done well is that Cameo of Salman Khan in PATHAAN. You can imagine what was happening in the theaters when Tiger's theme was played. And I don't I have to mention the background music from lokiverse. Movies like Vikram, Leo and Kaithi and the their brilliant background score the just stick in your mind and refuses to leave. Second is the *songs*... The song BESHARAM RANG was the reason for PATHAAN's sucess and controversy. JHOOME JO PATHAAN became a party song for the entire year. CHALEYA was JAWAN's best selling song in terms of views and attention it got the movie. GADAR 2 just took everyone to a nostalgia trip with the same songs and a little change, which worked it's charm! Third comes the *visuals*... There is always the one scene that shows off your main characters BEST look. One example of the top of my head is from the movie JAWAN, after the entire scene at the Government hospital there is a action set. And when SRK's associates say "Cheif!" and BOOM! a hospital wall blows and there is fire everywhere we see SRK and that background music going all crazy.... No one can tell me that was underwhelming at all. Fourth the *dialouges*... If we look at the from in the last 6 years especially the mass masala films very few are remember by their dialouges. We remember these movies because of their crazy hype and Box office numbers that were thrown at us. And very few movies got their dialouges right one very notable one is "Jhukega nahi saala". But if we go back a little in time, we find this: "Don't angry me"; "Ek bar main commitment kar du... toh main apne aap ki bhi nahi sunta"; (Tell me from which movies these dialouges are from the next one is easy of course.) "Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi namumqin hai". Movies before the big budget era had way more one-liners that were memorable. This aspect of mass cinema has reduced quite a lot recently. Lastly a *villian*... A strong and challenging villian. Let's take the example of the movie whose remake is BABY JOHN(Haven't watched BABY JOHN yet), THERI is the original movie and the villian no doubt makes Vijay Thalapathy kneel. Around the interval I believe the villian kills almost everyone in Vijay's family including him. Another powerful villian that looked unstoppable till the end was JIM from PATHAAN. Villians make the story gripping and interesting. Without good villians story turns out to be not as impactful as it could be. This is my complaint with a lot of cinema from a couple years ago. Where a comman easily goes head to head with a politician or a powerful businessman like it is too easy for him. The movie JAWAN had *2* villians; Vijay Sethupathi and The System/Government. Where obviously the system was more powerful. Obviously I am missing the HERO whom we follow, but this has become a bit of a debate. With movies like ANIMAL, PUSHPA, KABIR SINGH we can't be sure about what a hero should have. BABY JOHN - varun dhawan is good cop turned father for his daughter. PUSHPA - Criminal basically. ANIMAL - Well we all know it complicated in the grey area. JAWAN - it was the story, SRK was the medium through which the story was told. PATHAAN - he is a hero, just saving the day you know. That is my perspective on how one should go about making a MASS film. Thank you. PS: I hope I win the good looking poster.
A good mass movie features a protagonist whose journey viewers can deeply connect with, creating a strong emotional bond. Once this connection is established, the audience is naturally inclined to root for the protagonist, regardless of whether their actions are legal or illegal, as their motivations feel justified. Equally important is a worthy villain one who is powerful and poses a significant challenge, often seeming stronger than the protagonist, which makes the final showdown intense, thrilling, and rewarding. Beyond these, aspects like a gripping background score, technical brilliance, and the charismatic presence of a star further elevate the movie, making it a memorable mass experience.
* Strong emotional connection: Mass films often tap into universal emotions like love, loss, revenge, and patriotism. They create characters and situations that resonate with the audience and evoke strong feelings. * Engaging storyline: A well-crafted story with twists, turns, and unexpected moments keeps the audience invested. The plot should be clear and easy to follow, while still offering surprises and excitement. * Memorable characters: The characters should be relatable, complex, and well-developed. They should have clear motivations and goals, and their actions should drive the plot forward. * Powerful performances: The actors should deliver strong, convincing performances that bring the characters to life. Their chemistry should be palpable, adding depth and realism to the relationships on screen. * Spectacular visuals and music: Mass films often feature stunning visuals, elaborate sets, and catchy music. These elements create a larger-than-life atmosphere that enhances the overall experience. * Social relevance: While entertainment is the primary goal, some mass films also address social issues or cultural values. This adds a layer of meaning and relevance to the film, making it more than just mindless entertainment.
For Mass film--- 1) Cultural rootedness is very important from a mass perspective. Which ever landscape the film chooses, it should seep in some of its characteristics. 2) Hero for the mass, by the mass-- Hero should be a person who speaks for the people and his actions indirectly compensate people's anger for a specific topic. (Even if the villain is poorly written, the heroes antics doesn't let it hinder the movie) 3) Action if also logicless, should have conviction in it. Making a person believe physics-defying action is difficult and that if you can do, it can give your film a boost. 4)The tightly-bound screenplay, it should be racy-pacy, and should always give something for the audience. based on the screenplay technique, that audience should experience laughter, cheer, tears, at a moment. 5)Distribution plays an important role for a film, the more you can sell your product at root levels the better for the film. Writing this entirely as mass-man, keeping aside The Cinephile.
Things required for a good mass movie - i) Story - A very good story should be a necessity and backbone for a mass movie. Because plot is very similar to some movies but the story should be different from each other. because there are 7 plots in the whole world but we can make a very good story with the help of basic plots.... ii) Entry of Hero - it should be over the top and the hero can do anything like attitude should be there.... If it's an action scene then it's very good. iii) Entry of Villian - Entry of the villain is also like the entry of Hero. It will be very good if the entry scene is better than the hero entry scene. iv) Strong Villian - Villain should overpower the hero and the hero needs some different tactical things to beat the villain. And villain should be ruthless. v) Emotional moments - Emotional moments should work in the movie and it should also be there in the action scene because action without emotion is nothing. So the emotional scene should work. vi) Mass moment with BGM - BGM is very important to elevate the action scene very well and 3-4 mass moments should be there. vii) Action scene - A very well choreographed action scene should be there. That's my opinion.....
WHATMAKES A GOOD MASS FILM?:- 1) Actor and his stardom = lead actor plays an important role as he is the one who will carry the entire movie 2)Great action sequence with good direction = if you are making a mass film u need to have some good action sequences in it 3) A great powerful villain = a strong villain is important as he keeps thrill alive among the audience 4)color grading and editing = color grading and editing has to be done in right manner for good mass film 5)good story and emotional connect- =most of the action mass movies lack in story telling and character writing/developing 6) Background music = a good BGM elevates the the movie in every aspect 7)providing a good theatrical experience 8)songs = songs play an important role as they make a film more enjoyable 9) good side characters = if you just focus on your main characters without developing your side characters like it just ruins the story of the film
Q. What Makes a Good Mass Film?" - A good mass film in Indian cinema is all about connecting with the audience. It’s not just the story, it’s how the emotions hit you, how the hero’s journey feels like your own. You want larger-than-life moments-whether it’s a punchy dialogue, a high-energy fight sequence, or that perfect slo-mo entry scene. Music and dance are the soul of Indian mass films, those songs you hum on the way back home or dance to at weddings. A good mass film is pure magic when it makes you feel like you’re part of something bigger. btw i love john wick, so......
for me personally after watching so many mass movies in the recent times it has almost become a fixed formula for making a mass film which is slowly becoming boring... According to me the points written down below can make a good unique mass movie : 1) 1st and for most the bgm. A mass movie needs a very very good and energetic bgm . 2)smart and slick action choreography syncing with the bgm. Hand to hand combat sequences with the beat of the bgm will definitely impress many. Here I'm not talking about the typical entry bgms. Here I'm telling about a specific kind of bgm which will sync with action. For example when the hero throws a punch, he will throw it with beat of the bgm. 3) A bit more relatable plot and a bit more relatable main lead. We have generally seen larger than life characters in the mass movies. But I think if the back story or the main subplots and the main character becomes a bit more relatable with the general mass people than the movie can become a cult classic mass movie and will be remembered for a long time. 4) perfect blend of larger than life concept with a grounded approach. 5) making a bit more logic driven for the new age audience 6) in the recent times we have seen that mass movies generally worship the main lead even if it is flawed and toxic. We must stop worshiping and encouraging male gaze with toxicity. If the main lead is wrong and flawed in some aspects you must show it properly rather than hiding his flawed and wrong sides of his character. 7) an antagonist with a strong and logical reason. 8) Introducing more grey characters to mass movies. Not just simple good and bad character. It will add much more layers to characters.
Mass films, also known as commercial cinema or masala films, are a popular genre in India and other parts of the world. They are characterized by a mix of genres, including action, romance, comedy, and drama, often with larger-than-life characters and melodramatic storylines. Here are some key elements that contribute to a good mass film: * Engaging Storyline: A compelling narrative is essential to keep the audience hooked. Mass films often revolve around themes of good versus evil, love, family, and social issues. The story should be fast-paced, filled with twists and turns, and keep the audience guessing. * Strong Characters: Memorable characters are crucial for a mass film. The protagonist is often larger-than-life, possessing heroic qualities and facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. Supporting characters, including the antagonist and romantic interest, should be well-defined and add depth to the story. * Action and Spectacle: Mass films are known for their high-octane action sequences, elaborate set pieces, and visually stunning visuals. These elements provide a sense of excitement and spectacle, appealing to the audience's desire for entertainment. * Music and Sound Design: The soundtrack plays a vital role in enhancing the emotional impact of the film. Powerful background music, catchy songs, and effective sound design can elevate the viewing experience and create a lasting impression. * Emotional Resonance: While mass films often lean towards melodrama, they can still evoke genuine emotions in the audience. The characters' struggles, triumphs, and relationships should resonate with viewers on a personal level, creating a sense of connection and empathy. * Star Power: The presence of popular actors and actresses can significantly boost the appeal of a mass film. Fans are drawn to see their favorite stars in action, and the star's charisma can add an extra layer of entertainment. * Cultural Relevance: Mass films often reflect the cultural values and social issues of their time. By addressing relevant themes and incorporating cultural elements, filmmakers can connect with a wider audience and create a sense of shared experience. While these are some of the key elements that contribute to a good mass film, it's important to note that the specific formula can vary depending on the target audience and cultural context. Ultimately, a successful mass film is one that provides engaging entertainment, emotional resonance, and a sense of escapism for its viewers.
A good mass film excels in delivering a blend of entertainment, emotion, and connection that resonates with a broad audience. At its core, it should have a simple, relatable story infused with larger-than-life elements that appeal to both the masses and cinephiles. Firstly, a charismatic protagonist with universal appeal is essential. For instance, Rajinikanth in Kabali or Allu Arjun in Pushpa: The Rise captured the audience’s imagination with their magnetic presence and relatable struggles. Next, powerful dialogues and impactful action sequences play a significant role. Dialogues like "Thaggede Le" from Pushpa or "Don’t underestimate the power of a common man" from Chennai Express became iconic catchphrases, boosting audience engagement. Similarly, high-octane action scenes, like the train fight in RRR, create unforgettable cinematic moments. A mass film must also have emotional depth. Be it the father-son bond in Baahubali or the struggles of a middle-class hero in Mersal, these emotional threads tug at the heartstrings while maintaining the film's mass appeal. Additionally, a rousing soundtrack amplifies the film's impact. Tracks like “Dosti” from RRR and “Srivalli” from Pushpa elevate key moments, leaving a lasting impression. Finally, a good mass film celebrates universal themes like justice, love, or triumph over adversity, often packaged with vibrant visuals and a gripping screenplay. Films like KGF and Baahubali demonstrate this perfectly, blending grandeur with relatability. Ultimately, a great mass film strikes a balance between escapism and emotion, ensuring audiences leave the theatre entertained and inspired. By combining universal storytelling with local flavor, it creates a cultural phenomenon that resonates deeply.

A mass film is all about connecting with a wide audience while keeping them thoroughly entertained. It’s the kind of movie you watch with popcorn in hand, cheering, clapping, and maybe even whistling at the screen. At its heart, a good mass film knows how to tell a story-one that the director wants to share with as many people as possible. To do this, it brings in larger-than-life characters, emotional highs and lows, and moments that really pull you in. It might have those cheesy, sometimes over-the-top action scenes where the hero takes down villains, backed by a thumping background score that makes the crowd go wild. The conviction of the filmmaker and the actors makes you buy into it completely-you’re so hooked that you never find yourself thinking, "Yeh kya chutiyap hai." Then there are the songs and dances-whether it’s a celebration, a love story, or even heartbreak, they carry the emotions beautifully and make the screenplay flow even smoother. I love it when filmmakers stay true to the story they want to tell-their ideas, their politics, their philosophy, their voice-all woven into the film without being preachy, yet effectively conveyed through solid storytelling. What really gets me are the underdog stories, where you’re rooting for the hero or heroine all the way through their journey. These films leave you with unforgettable characters, punchy dialogues, and songs that stay in your head for years. If the film levels up the standard of filmmaking in any way-whether it’s through a fresh screenplay, innovative action choreography, or brilliant shot design-it’s like a cherry on top. Movies like Deewar, Sholay, Kaala Patthar, Lagaan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Indian, Thalapathi, Vikram, RRR, and to some extent Jawan are examples of good mass films. They’re a win-win-solid storytelling and pure entertainment.
So this makes a proper mass movie Relatable Hero Engaging Storyline Powerful Dialogues High-Octane Action Catchy Music Villain Cultural Relevance Fan Service
"What makes a good mass film?" A good mass film is all about entertainment, emotion, and energy. It needs a hero the audience can cheer for, a villain they can hate, and a story that keeps them hooked. Add some punchy dialogues, thrilling action, catchy songs, and moments that make people laugh, cry, and celebrate. Most importantly, it should leave the audience satisfied, feeling like they’ve been part of something grand and unforgettable.
*For a Mass Film* let's come to the points. 1) Good BGM (usually loud) 2) Action - Should not be chopy and have minimum cuts (should be continues) 3) There should be justification for every Action scene, the actions should justify its cause. 5) the scale and level of action scenes should be in ascending order, like the most simple action scene in starting and then level should increase with each action scene. 4) Sync of music beats with sounds of the scene (like hitting objects, etc) 5) Catchy songs with memorable choreography. 6) Story should be easy to understand. 7) Give importance to reaction shots. 9) The Main actor's performance is very important and the character should suit him/her. 10) Unnecessary one liners should be avoided. 11) Wide angle shots for Action and close ups for Emotions. 12) Satisfactory Ending 13) if there is any cameo, it should be justified. 14). Any disability of the main character should be their, of which villian will take advantage before climax.
For me if I'm going to see a mass film, I want the movie to keep me engaged even with scenes which may not make any sense. I'm happy with the comedy being a bit off Or the emotions being overboard, because it will be. I just want them to blend well and keep me seated throughout.
A good mass film has everything to keep the audience hooked! 🔥 A strong storyline, a charismatic lead, and high-octane action are a must. Add some punchy dialogues, emotional depth, and chartbuster music, and you've got a winner. Stylish visuals and universal themes that connect with everyone make it even better. When all these elements come together, it's pure magic on screen!
What makes a good mass film a relatable story with high emotional appeal, strong character arcs, larger-than-life hero elements, well-choreographed action sequences, popular music, and a focus on themes that resonate with a wide audience, often including elements of heroism, justice and more over enjoyable elements with which makes a good family time to watch
7:09 A good mass film connects with its audience by delivering a larger-than-life experience packed with emotion and energy , elevated action sequences, memorable dialogues, keeping the audience hooked. Themes like love, justice, or friendship resonate deeply, while catchy music and an engaging background theme that leaves the audience cheering, laughing, or even shedding a tear. The story, even if simple, should be engaging, with emotional depth, clear conflicts, and a satisfying conclusion. Some Good Example are- RRR, KGF, Jawan, Pathaan, Vikram Kaithi. I think that's the core reason and every mass movie try to go with this formula. 😃
7:00 I think a film can be said a good mass film if it has a consistency to it . I mean the film should stick with its storyline . Must have some sequence uplifting your main character. Atleast one of the side character should have a very impactful performance in less screen time. Amidst all the strength of the main character, he also should have some weaknesses so that people could feel that the character is one of us only . The villian should have an negative aura around himself . Also the film should have some references from current scenarios of the country . And one item song should be there for commercializing it😝.
A mass movie is a popular, entertaining film that is designed to appeal to a large audience. The term is commonly used in the Indian film industry. Some characteristics of mass movies include: Fan service, Sentimental and romantic scenes, Cute scenes, Male stars, and Limited or no role for women. Mass movies are often a way for aging heroes to be showcased and survive. Directors may also use mass movies to increase hero worship. The meaning of a mass movie has changed over time. Some say that mass movies now cater to what they consider to be B and C centers. Also Mass in general i guess are for films that give an adrenaline rush to the audience. But now it's used in many ways meanings changes with context also. Basically over the top movies when done right with all the right elements could be called a mass film.
What Makes a Good Mass Film 1. Star Power : having popular actors can draw audiences in. However, the film should utilize its cast effectively rather than relying solely on star power. 2.Entertainment Value : entertain through a mix of action, drama, humor, and romance. It should keep viewers engaged from start to finish. 3.Emotional Impact : The ability to evoke strong emotions whether laughter, tears, or excitement 4.Catchy Music and Dance : memorable songs and dance sequences are integral to mass films 5.Dialogues and One-Liners : Memorable lines that resonate with the audience 6.Strong Antagonist : antagonist enhances the hero’s journey, making the victory more satisfying.
a story that people can relate to and have strong emotional appeal. It will usually has larger than life characters, high action, great stunts, memorable music/score and a central figure that the story revolves around who can reach out not only to the niche audience but also mass majority/audience and last but not least it should always tries to convey some good messages or values (i.e Heroism is overlooked by society, helps others). The story must not be too complicated though so as many can follow it and remember it.
A good mass film in Bollywood typically combines relatable storytelling, catchy music, and high-energy dance numbers with action-packed sequences and comedic relief. Star power, emotional resonance, and cultural relevance also play crucial roles, along with visual grandeur and spectacular moments that become etched in popular culture.
I think Varun rather doing films with his father should collaborate more with new gen directors especially from the south. He really looks fresh than his previous films tbh in my view.
good mass movie is one that entertains through high energy action, broad appeal, emotional depth, and connection with the audience, leaving them with memorable moments and with the larger than life characters but with people can relate tha they also perform like that if needed
A good mass movie for me is 1. World setting-if the world setting isn’t great it takes out the soul of the film cause we cant only hero worship for 3 hours 2.emotional connect-if i am not emotionally invested than its a big a no,movies such kgf and Jawan absolutely hit it out of the park in this aspect scenes in which rocky stoped whole traffic and helped the mother is edged in my brain similarly in jawan the scene where a man humiliated infront of his daughter 3.conflict - a conflict gives a story fuel to drive if there is not a strong conflict audience will not be invested in the story 4.villian- sometimes a villain is more impactful than hero himself, strong villain makes sure audience root for the hero
7:00 What makes a good Mass Film? Emotion - is the single most important ingredient of the mass film. Emotion of Character must have that connect with the public. Entertainment - is another thing that the public expects from any mass movie. A wholesome experience of Drama, Action, Comedy & Emotion makes a good mass movie. Sometimes even the mediocre story line also works where the entertainment factor is great. Music & BGM - In Indian Mass movie songs & BGM can take the movie experience next level. It should be mixed well with storyline & characters that can elevate a film. Story - if the story is good enough with the above factors then the mass movie altogether becomes a sure shot blockbuster & it also creates the buzz around the public for repeat watching value.
Ek acchi mass film me ye sab hona chahiye 1. It should have a good Story which not only entertains the audience as well as gives moral values to the audience 2. Pan India Actors ( esse film ki hype apne aap badh jaegi) 3.Have a good music ( Nowadays jo reels pe chal jae ) 😅 4. Usme sab kuch hona chahiye, comedy, emotion, love, war, etc 5. Have a strong villain 6. Have some fan moment also ( like ek acchi entry honi chahiye hero ki like in war) 7. If it's a Pan India Movie then casting director should cast the actors from each regional cinema ( jaise ki abhi Ramayana me casting kiye hai)
Connecting with people is the key to a film's success, regardless of its budget or scale. When a movie resonates with audiences, it can become a massive hit, even if it's a small, low-budget film. As you said, "Wo chota film ho ya koi bhauda movie, agar wo connect karta hai, toh wo mass movie ban jata hai." That's the magic of storytelling in films!

A good mass film strikes the perfect balance of entertainment and emotion. It needs a charismatic hero, a relatable yet larger-than-life storyline, and impactful dialogues that stick. High-octane action sequences, a strong villain, and moments that make audiences cheer are essential. Add a touch of humor, peppy music, and a compelling emotional core.
What makes a good mass film? A good mass film-often designed to appeal to a wide audience, particularly in regions with a strong fan culture-balances several elements to captivate viewers. Here's what typically contributes to its success: 1. Charismatic Lead Actor A strong, larger-than-life protagonist with immense screen presence. Star power or a hero with a loyal fan following. 2. Engaging Storyline Simple yet impactful narratives that are easy to follow. Themes of justice, revenge, love, or underdog success resonate widely. 3. Powerful Dialogues Punchy, memorable lines that make audiences cheer and repeat. Dialogues that emphasize heroism or address societal issues in an impactful manner. 4. Mass Moments Over-the-top hero introductions, slow-motion sequences, and grand entries. Scenes where the hero triumphs over insurmountable odds. 5. Action and Spectacle High-octane fight sequences, car chases, or stunts that are visually thrilling. Well-choreographed action with a balance of realism and exaggeration. 6. Music and Dance Chart-topping songs and energetic dance numbers. Background scores that amplify emotions, especially during key moments. 7. Relatable Emotion Strong emotional beats that connect with family audiences, such as love, sacrifice, or loyalty. A subplot involving family, romance, or friendship often strengthens this connection. 8. Villainy and Conflict A menacing antagonist who amplifies the hero’s struggles and eventual triumph. The stakes should feel high and personal for the hero. 9. Comedy and Entertainment Light-hearted humor that breaks tension and adds to the overall entertainment. Comedic side characters or situations that appeal to a wide audience. 10. Fan Service A nod to the lead actor’s past work, mannerisms, or iconic gestures. Easter eggs or moments tailored to evoke whistles and applause in theaters. 11. Grand Visuals Lavish sets, stylish cinematography, or larger-than-life visuals. A mix of local flavor with universal appeal. 12. Mass Appeal Themes Addressing societal issues, local pride, or universal struggles with an uplifting message. Celebrating the triumph of good over evil in a way that feels personal and inspiring.
7:08 A mass film is good when there are certain key elements in the screenplay and presentation of the movie, such as: 1. "Earned" High Moments: A lot of mass movies try to give you that rush and high moments, but only a few of them build up to it well enough. The high moments must be "earned" and should feel well paced in the screenplay. 2. Should Have Something For Everyone: As most filmmakers say, the mass masala genre is the most difficult to crack. And rightly so, because a good mass film should have at least one thing for every viewer, be it drama or dialogue-baazi, action, songs, visuals, heroism. Could be any of these, but a mass movie will only work at scale if it has a little bit of something for most of its audience. 3. A Good Story At Its Core: Most people think that most mass movies are brainless entertainment, but the best and most memorable mass movies have a good and engaging story. Sure, you can add rousing BGMs, great looking actors and thrilling action. But none of it will work as well if there isn't a decent story driving it all. Most filmmakers falter at this part. 4. Crisp And Well Edited: Mass audiences have high expectations for entertainment in exchange for their money, even if everything else falls short slightly. If a mass movie just drags on in the name of "Elevation Moments", it just seems stretched and boring for the paying audience. If the screenplay is tightly written and the movie is edited well, it's half the job done. 5. Follows A Few Tropes: The archetypal tropes in cinema that have proven themselves time and again are the best for mass movies. A certain template, (eg: KGF= A rags to riches story) works wonders for a reason if done in the right way.
Mass film should respect the hero and the audience, audience definitely movie apne hero ke liye dekhne aayi h, if the hero is treated bad or isn't god like being, they might get pissed, definitely aise moments honay chahiye jo main character ko pressurized rakhe, and the moment the hero wins, is pure gold, satisfaction milta hai alag level ka, that's the point, mass films should hit the right spots, dopamine hit karna hai somehow, with cool action, emotional trajectory, but it shouldn't be forced, and villains should have depth, they have a lot of importance as well, their main role is to raise the stakes, and the entire plot should revolve around the hero and villains. No side character bs imo. Side character should be there just to keep the main guy engaged and never forget the main goal.
I like those mass film which have have a proper storyline and social massage like jawan, rrr and also like action with best bgm like arirudh bgms and in mass film i think absence of dance and song are waste because its just a time pass because in Hollywood movies there is no song so i like that and make a make a hero who is not cruel for innocent❤❤❤
According to my opinion, a good mass film is made by the following aspects:- 1) Action sequences should be very nice and should be entertaining with the help of slow mo shots and also sometimes fast motion shots. 2) The choreography should be entertaining and also the music and songs used in the fim. It need not be good but should appeal to the audience and the audience shoul feel like enjoying the musical moments without analysis critically. 3) I think a good mass film should also know how to represent our culture and traditions properly with the help of dressing, styling etc. 4) The chemistry between the hero and the supporting characters should be good and the supporting characters should be also strongly written. 5) The villain should be equally strong like the hero. 6) The villain and the hero's journey from their beginning to the end should be shown very nicely as it increases the intensity of a mass film. 7) Overall a mass film not not be always a film wich should be critically strong but should appeal to the audience always.
A good mass film is a crowd-pleaser that resonates with a broad audience by blending entertainment, emotions, and spectacle. Here's what typically makes a mass film successful: 1. Engaging Hero/Protagonist Charismatic Lead: A larger-than-life hero with strong screen presence. Relatable Motivations: The hero’s struggles and victories should evoke empathy. Hero Moments: Slow-motion action sequences, powerful dialogues, and moments where the protagonist dominates. 2. Action and Stunts Stylized Action: High-octane, choreographed fight scenes, often with gravity-defying stunts. Emotionally Driven: The action should feel meaningful, tied to the character’s journey or cause. Visual Impact: Creative use of settings, weapons, or vehicles. 3. Catchy Dialogues Punch Lines: Memorable, impactful one-liners that become iconic. Emotionally Charged: Dialogues that inspire, motivate, or stir strong emotions. 4. Music and Dance Chartbuster Songs: Upbeat, energetic numbers, romantic ballads, and theme songs. Dance Sequences: High-energy choreography with a blend of traditional and modern styles. Background Score: Intense, dramatic music heightening key moments. 5. Strong Villain Compelling Antagonist: A villain who poses a real challenge to the hero. Well-Written Character: The villain should have clear motivations and a menacing presence. 6. Emotionally Charged Story Family Drama: Relationships, sacrifice, and moral values often play a big role. Social Message: Many mass films subtly include themes of justice, equality, or patriotism. Underdog Arc: Stories where the protagonist rises against the odds are particularly powerful. 7. Visual Grandeur Cinematic Appeal: Big-budget sets, exotic locations, and high-quality visual effects. Unique Settings: Use of culturally rich or visually stunning backdrops. 8. Humor and Entertainment Comedy: Lighthearted moments and comic relief characters break the tension. Relatable Humor: Simple, universal jokes that connect with the audience. 9. Relatable Themes Universal concepts like love, revenge, justice, and perseverance resonate across demographics. 10. Fan Service Easter Eggs: Subtle nods to the star’s previous films or famous moments. Cameos: Guest appearances by popular actors or directors. Examples of Good Mass Films Indian Films: "Baahubali," "Pushpa," "KGF," "Dabangg." Hollywood Equivalents: "Avengers: Endgame," "Fast and Furious" franchise, "Gladiator."
7:05 Not only mass film but every film is for experience may be it is easy for you to judge film like editing is good or bad but generally we judge every film because of experience what I experienced in film will decide the our word of mouth like rrr kgf bahubally jawan pathan story, editing, bgm, may be it should not be perfect the package of whole should be entertaining enough
100% agree with you bro ajkal ke reviewer patanai kiu entertainment ke perspective se sochte hi naihi bas kamiya nikalte he hum public ko entertainment se matlab he bas
A great mass action film is an emotional rollercoaster that captures the audience’s imagination through visually grand storytelling, impactful character arcs, and stylized action set pieces. It’s about creating unforgettable moments-be it a hero’s entry, a fiery confrontation, or a thunderous climax-all backed by a rousing score that stays with viewers long after the credits roll. It is my opinion u can disagree it's completely ok ❤😂
A good Mass film - 1. a chest thumping bgm without being too loud to an extent of deafening its audience. 2. the actors cast as the protagonist and antagonist are convincing in their roles. 3. The protagonist must make u feel what he does is doable in the world of the film . the antagonist must make himself hateful to an extent of pissing of the audience. 4. one-two songs that make u feel like dancing off your seats. 5. The side characters must be involved with the screenplay of the film and not just with a gag here and there. 6. the lead actress should have a role that is a driving force for the protagonist and not just for eve-teasing. 7. the last and the most important, a decent story with gripping screenplay. Not saying that it should be excellent but believable enough for the audience

Editing is the biggest complaint I have from Atlee movies, ik he didn't direct the movie but I believe the big chunk of the movie is done by Atlee himself
I don't have much knowledge of cinema. Bt, mass cinema for me is a cinema which i can watch any time any mood or from wherever i start movie the i can understand atleast that specific portion. It is not necessary for a mass cinema to be a action movie. I won't go for the technicalities like - ott scenes and protagonist, mass moments etc. For me : 3 idiots is as massy as Pushpa or any mass cinemas. Yesterday i was watching some clip compilation from munna bhai mbbs- i found that too a massy one. N.B: yeh to tha mera opinion. Apka opinion mera opinion completely different ho sakta hai, which is completely democratic.

What makes a good mass film? As a kid I loved the Karan Arjun ending fight where the heroes, all hurt and angry took revenge Now it feels silly but I miss those crazy fun moments These days movie endings don’t pump me up-they feel too normal The last time I got that feeling was with Bhahubali,KGF1, RRR, and Kalki. 🍿👊🔥

it effectively appeals to a large audience by incorporating elements like relatable characters, high-octane action, powerful dialogues, and strong star performances, often with a focus on hero worship, all while delivering a story that resonates with the common people, making them feel deeply invested in the protagonist's journey;
Theri is far better than Baby John Varun Dhawan 's overacting ruined the remake 😢😂😂😅. Rajpal Yadav and Jaggu dada killed it literally awesome performance 💕❤️.The villian in Baby John is better than Theri .
A great mass film is one that resonates with people, making them feel personally connected while still delivering big entertainment. 7:08 A Mass Movie should have 1.emotions... Which can enhance impact of Drama, Action, Story.... 2. Some Common hero characteristics like Fearless(Ranvijay, Pushpa), Empathy, Sympathy, Relatable to Audience. 3.A good villain with his back story (a back story should not needed to show why villain became bad, but it can show why he hate hero like In Maharaja it shows why villain hates hero which was a simple misunderstanding !) 4. A good ending, which can be Good or not good for hero (at last hero get lose if there is planning for second part like Avengers infinity war). A ending decides audience reaction for film, like if you are stretching movie and there is bad (story wise, presentation wise) ending then it mess up whole movie 5. There are some additives like Background music, Songs, Cinematography, Camera work , etc 😊👍
What makes a good mass movie - 1. Logical storyline 2. Non glorified action 3. Good cinematography 4. Suitable actors 5. Completed and connected sub plots with suitable supporting characters
According to me what makes a good massy movie would be 1. A hero who literally does less talking and more work (like john wick.. Bang bang end of it) 2. Story that is very simple and not over complicated (Like Salaar which had huge scope for being a great mass movie) 3. Having a villain that is the mirror opposite of the hero (Not grey shaded) 4. Last having a good conflict according to the 3 act structure of film making These are the few simple recipes to be followed
• High-octane, well-choreographed action scenes that thrill audiences. • Memorable one-liners and dialogues that audiences can cheer for and repeat. •Some Emotional Scenes •Strong Climax •Powerful Villain •Catchy Music •Good Songs • A famous superstar as a hero and villain (optional). • A story which will connect with us emotionally. .. • Some Massy Moments which we'll enjoy.
Best moment was Rajpal Yadav's "Comedy is a serious business " and never expected him to perform an action scene

I remembered when the Taster Cut of Baby John (2024) came and Suraj Kumar said that "this movie will represent Rajpal Yadav in a way that we haven't seen before", my honest reaction was "Fuh! That isn't going to happen, he's going to be the same comic relief just like from the original" and I'm happy to say that I'm wrong 🥹

A Good Mass film is that which has a strong protagonist and an even stronger antagonist.
Agree
What makes a good mass film ?
1. Background music
2. Powerful villian
3. Great action
4. Heroic presentation
5. (Special mention) Perfect direction
and hero should be the most powerful in mass film otherwise it wont be mass film .
People will praise a mass film like Animal,Pushpa and Kabir Singh with a problematic protagonist with zero takeaways from his personality but will hate a clean character like Baby John.

Don't know about Jawan universe but it will surely linked to Atlee 6 movie with Salman khan

Director's taking & Bgm
*Saripodha Sanivaram*
is a fine example of it.
Plot was very simple but the
treatment was commendable ❤
Right very good movie h
I also feel the same. The first half is sooo good , second is also good but a little fast paced
For Mass film---
1) Cultural rootedness is very important from a mass perspective. Which ever landscape the film chooses, it should seep in some of its characteristics.
2) Hero for the mass, by the mass-- Hero should be a person who speaks for the people and his actions indirectly compensate people's anger for a specific topic. (Even if the villain is poorly written, the heroes antics doesn't let it hinder the movie)
3) Action if also logicless, should have conviction in it.
Things required for a good mass movie -
i) Story - A very good story should be a necessity and backbone for a mass movie.
WHATMAKES A GOOD MASS FILM?:-
1) Actor and his stardom = lead actor plays an important role as he is the one who will carry the entire movie
2)Great action sequence with good direction = if you are making a mass film u need to have some good action sequences in it
3) A great powerful villain = a strong villain is important as he keeps thrill alive among the audience
4)color grading and editing = color grading and editing has to be done in right manner for good mass film
5)good story and emotional connect- =most of the action mass movies lack in story telling and character writing/developing
6) Background music = a good BGM elevates the the movie in every aspect
7)providing a good theatrical experience
8)songs = songs play an important role as they make a film more enjoyable
9) good side characters = if you just focus on your main characters without developing your side characters like it just ruins the story of the film
Q. What Makes a Good Mass Film?"
- A good mass film in Indian cinema is all about connecting with the audience.
According to me the points written down below can make a good unique mass movie :
1) 1st and for most the bgm.
5) making a bit more logic driven for the new age audience
6) in the recent times we have seen that mass movies generally worship the main lead even if it is flawed and toxic.
Here are some key elements that contribute to a good mass film:
* Engaging Storyline:
A compelling narrative is essential to keep the audience hooked. Mass films often revolve around themes of good versus evil, love, family, and social issues. The story should be fast-paced, filled with twists and turns, and keep the audience guessing.
* Strong Characters:
Memorable characters are crucial for a mass film. The protagonist is often larger-than-life, possessing heroic qualities and facing seemingly insurmountable challenges. Supporting characters, including the antagonist and romantic interest, should be well-defined and add depth to the story.
* Action and Spectacle:
Mass films are known for their high-octane action sequences, elaborate set pieces, and visually stunning visuals. These elements provide a sense of excitement and spectacle, appealing to the audience's desire for entertainment.
* Music and Sound Design:
The soundtrack plays a vital role in enhancing the emotional impact of the film. Powerful background music, catchy songs, and effective sound design can elevate the viewing experience and create a lasting impression.
* Emotional Resonance:
While mass films often lean towards melodrama, they can still evoke genuine emotions in the audience. The characters' struggles, triumphs, and relationships should resonate with viewers on a personal level, creating a sense of connection and empathy.
* Star Power:
The presence of popular actors and actresses can significantly boost the appeal of a mass film. Fans are drawn to see their favorite stars in action, and the star's charisma can add an extra layer of entertainment.
* Cultural Relevance:
Mass films often reflect the cultural values and social issues of their time.

7:01 A good mass film is always knows the audience desire things like entertainment , excited and easy to enjoy to the audience and satisfy the ending sense so that audience would with the films While it’s often packed with action, emotion, or a great story, it also has the power to resonate with many people on a deeper level. what its special is how to balance the film with this element that makes sense more in the mass films
For the mass film, that needed things is required
1. Related Character: The character which feel you real in the film, if the character of this film is going wrong works but if the audience has connected with the character then it is sign of good mass film for example Rocky Bhai for KGF
2. An Engaging Story: The story or the plot should be hooked up with the audience, then audience knows the secret behind the plot in a excited way. It could be simple idea. but told in a captivates and excites viewers. For example Bahubali why did the katappa had killed bahubali
3. Emotion: Emotions is the main role in the mass films because of the emotions would audience connect and also feels same emotion like a screaming in a film, then audience would love the film. In this case SS Rajamouli knows how to put emotions on the films that's why his films has connected to the audience and foreign audience also
4. Universal Themes Themes like love and save remains or justice are easy to connect with a people of the audience no matter, no matter they came for in the film
Some of the great example of the goods mass film is
Deewaar (1975) starting Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor In this film the journey had been given a Good Guy which played be late Shashi Kapoor and Bad Guys which was played by Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan
And both characters has been impact by the audience in a very good storyline and great screenplay by the Salim Javed Ji ...The both the character of this film is so good that audience could connect by both of them in which what we happened with them..
what makes a mass film great
a great mass film thrives on relatable emotions, catchy dialogues, and foot-tapping music. It combines gripping storytelling with larger than life characters, high octane and edge of the seat sequences of action, and a pinch of comedy.... Strong cultural relevance, a hero to root for, and moments that evoke collective cheers make it a memorable experience for audiences.....Unique plot twists, iconic characters, and moments of unfiltered joy or heartbreak leave a lasting impact It’s not just entertainment but a celebration of actors and films....THE PERFECT EXAMPLE IS RRR
The conviction of the filmmaker and the actors makes you buy into it completely-you’re so hooked that you never find yourself thinking, "Yeh kya chutiyap hai."
Then there are the songs and dances-whether it’s a celebration, a love story, or even heartbreak, they carry the emotions beautifully and make the screenplay flow even smoother.
So this makes a proper mass movie

"What makes a good mass film?"
A good mass film is all about entertainment, emotion, and energy.
*For a Mass Film*
let's come to the points.
1) Good BGM (usually loud)
2) Action - Should not be chopy and have minimum cuts (should be continues)
3) There should be justification for every Action scene, the actions should justify its cause.
5) the scale and level of action scenes should be in ascending order, like the most simple action scene in starting and then level should increase with each action scene.
4) Sync of music beats with sounds of the scene (like hitting objects, etc)
5) Catchy songs with memorable choreography.
6) Story should be easy to understand.
7) Give importance to reaction shots.
9) The Main actor's performance is very important and the character should suit him/her.
10) Unnecessary one liners should be avoided.
11) Wide angle shots for Action and close ups for Emotions.
12) Satisfactory Ending
13) if there is any cameo, it should be justified.
What makes a good mass film
a relatable story with high emotional appeal, strong character arcs, larger-than-life hero elements, well-choreographed action sequences, popular music, and a focus on themes that resonate with a wide audience, often including elements of heroism, justice and more over enjoyable elements with which makes a good family time to watch

A good mass film connects with its audience by delivering a larger-than-life experience packed with emotion and energy , elevated action sequences, memorable dialogues, keeping the audience hooked.
Basically over the top movies when done right with all the right elements could be called a mass film.
my god such a civilised and constructive review
What Makes a Good Mass Film
1. Star Power : having popular actors can draw audiences in. However, the film should utilize its cast effectively rather than relying solely on star power.
2.Entertainment Value : entertain through a mix of action, drama, humor, and romance. It should keep viewers engaged from start to finish.
3.Emotional Impact : The ability to evoke strong emotions whether laughter, tears, or excitement
4.Catchy Music and Dance : memorable songs and dance sequences are integral to mass films
5.Dialogues and One-Liners : Memorable lines that resonate with the audience
6.Strong Antagonist : antagonist enhances the hero’s journey, making the victory more satisfying.
a story that people can relate to and have strong emotional appeal.
1st Emotion
2nd Action Scenes 😍
and I love your voice ❤️
Love and Respect 💖
good mass movie is one that entertains through high energy action, broad appeal, emotional depth, and connection with the audience, leaving them with memorable moments and with the larger than life characters but with people can relate tha they also perform like that if needed
Jackie Shroff in Baby John ☠️☠️☠️>>>>Jackie Shroff In Singhaam Again 🤡🤡🤡
Relevance of emotional roots to any actions, delivers a true good mass film..
A good mass movie for me is
1. World setting-if the world setting isn’t great it takes out the soul of the film cause we cant only hero worship for 3 hours
2.emotional connect-if i am not emotionally invested than its a big a no,movies such kgf and Jawan absolutely hit it out of the park in this aspect scenes in which rocky stoped whole traffic and helped the mother is edged in my brain similarly in jawan the scene where a man humiliated infront of his daughter
3.conflict - a conflict gives a story fuel to drive if there is not a strong conflict audience will not be invested in the story
4.villian- sometimes a villain is more impactful than hero himself, strong villain makes sure audience root for the hero
Ek acchi mass film me ye sab hona chahiye
1. It should have a good Story which not only entertains the audience as well as gives moral values to the audience
2. Pan India Actors ( esse film ki hype apne aap badh jaegi)
3.Have a good music ( Nowadays jo reels pe chal jae ) 😅
4. Usme sab kuch hona chahiye, comedy, emotion, love, war, etc
5. Have a strong villain
6. Have some fan moment also ( like ek acchi entry honi chahiye hero ki like in war)
7. If it's a Pan India Movie then casting director should cast the actors from each regional cinema ( jaise ki abhi Ramayana me casting kiye hai)
Sahi baat
Connecting with people is the key to a film's success, regardless of its budget or scale. When a movie resonates with audiences, it can become a massive hit, even if it's a small, low-budget film.
As you said, "Wo chota film ho ya koi bhauda movie, agar wo connect karta hai, toh wo mass movie ban jata hai."
That's the magic of storytelling in films!
THIS IS WHAT MAKES A GOOD MASS FILM.
An iconic Indian mass film is pure magic-a blend of a larger-than-life hero, a villain you love to hate, and action that brings goosebumps. It weaves a culturally rich, emotionally gripping story with unforgettable dialogues, electrifying music, and heart-pounding drama. The climax ignites cheers, tears, and whistles, making it not just a movie but an unforgettable celebration of Indian cinema's soul and spirit!
THIS IS WHAT MAKES A GOOD MASS FILM.

1. Charismatic Lead Actor
A strong, larger-than-life protagonist with immense screen presence.
Star power or a hero with a loyal fan following.
2. Engaging Storyline
Simple yet impactful narratives that are easy to follow.
Themes of justice, revenge, love, or underdog success resonate widely.
3. Powerful Dialogues
Punchy, memorable lines that make audiences cheer and repeat.

6. Music and Dance
Chart-topping songs and energetic dance numbers.

A subplot involving family, romance, or friendship often strengthens this connection.

Celebrating the triumph of good over evil in a way that feels personal and inspiring.
7:08 A mass film is good when there are certain key elements in the screenplay and presentation of the movie, such as:
Good story/ with best presentation and bgm and lovable characters
BGM + Experienced Actor makes a mass film extraordinary
Also director plays a huge role
According to my opinion, a good mass film is made by the following aspects:-
1) Action sequences should be very nice and should be entertaining with the help of slow mo shots and also sometimes fast motion shots.

A charismatic over confident hero, a more powerful villain, heroes downfall, his looses and learnings and then his come back.
Not saying that it should be excellent but believable enough for the audience

it effectively appeals to a large audience by incorporating elements like relatable characters, high-octane action, powerful dialogues, and strong star performances, often with a focus on hero worship, all while delivering a story that resonates with the common people, making them feel deeply invested in the protagonist's journey;
Theri is far better than Baby John Varun Dhawan 's overacting ruined the remake 😢😂😂😅. Rajpal Yadav and Jaggu dada killed it literally awesome performance 💕❤️.The villian in Baby John is better than Theri .

A Mass Movie should have 1.emotions...
Which can enhance impact of Drama, Action, Story....
2. Some Common hero characteristics like Fearless(Ranvijay, Pushpa), Empathy, Sympathy, Relatable to Audience.
3.A good villain with his back story (a back story should not needed to show why villain became bad, but it can show why he hate hero like In Maharaja it shows why villain hates hero which was a simple misunderstanding !)
4. A good ending, which can be Good or not good for hero (at last hero get lose if there is planning for second part like Avengers infinity war).
A ending decides audience reaction for film, like if you are stretching movie and there is bad (story wise, presentation wise) ending then it mess up whole movie
5. There are some additives like Background music, Songs, Cinematography, Camera work , etc 😊👍
What makes a good mass movie -
1. Logical storyline
2. Non glorified action
3. Good cinematography
4. Suitable actors
5. Completed and connected sub plots with suitable supporting characters
Emotion behind every action
Ssr sir's philosophy
According to me what makes a good massy movie would be
1. A hero who literally does less talking and more work (like john wick.. Bang bang end of it)
2. Story that is very simple and not over complicated (Like Salaar which had huge scope for being a great mass movie)
3. Having a villain that is the mirror opposite of the hero (Not grey shaded)
4. Last having a good conflict according to the 3 act structure of film making
These are the few simple recipes to be followed
• High-octane, well-choreographed action scenes that thrill audiences.
• Memorable one-liners and dialogues that audiences can cheer for and repeat.
•Some Emotional Scenes
•Strong Climax
•Powerful Villain
•Catchy Music
•Good Songs
• A famous superstar as a hero and villain (optional).
• A story which will connect with us emotionally.
.. • Some Massy Moments which we'll enjoy.
