Thanks for the video. It convinced me to go out and get a DR-880. Picked one up in excellent condition (still in box ver2.0) for $120. Think I'll be exploring this unit for a long time to come. One can get pretty deep and precise in programming the unit. The guitar effects is an added bonus. This thing is So versatile. Thanks again. :0)
got one of these and the first thing that started to flicker was the backlight. It's really packed with excessively energetic drum patterns. Good sounds.
I own this and it is the single best piece of kit I own. I don't mess with software I buy hardware and tend to buy much of it used from people that give up on stuff. The DR880 is phenomenal. I play basslines on it but use midi to trigger sounds in my korg radias. The bass sounds are not that great and even if you tweak them they are still just okay. I give it 9out of 10. The guitar effects rock. This is a great vid too. Cheers.
Ma che figo. Ne ho appena acquistata una. Io uso una 660 da anni per dei semplici loop, che uso soprattutto live. Non sono interessato di base a tutte le extra funzioni ma, sicuramente saranno fonte di ispirazione. Top.
I bought a used dr.880, know how to use it totally...BUT the idiot who prevously owned it put one single sound (symbol crash or drum hit) on all of the 500 user patterns and they are taking up a ton of memory. I could clear them if I wanted to push 3 buttons ( EDIT, PATTTERN, CLEAR ENTER wait 30sec. and EXIT EXIT, and then move on to the next user pattern of which are 500 to clear. I figure it would take about 5 hours to do this. If it just did a factory reset it would wipe all the songs/patterns w/bass changes that I've already created...off the machine. is there any way to "Gang delete" these user patterns past the 60 plus or minus, count.
For years I have used a QX3 midi sequence recorder with an old PSR keyboard and midi'd the drums from the keyboard real time and then edited drum patterns in the QX. Is it possible to midi out of the DR880 and change patterns real time to record the basic drums of the song i.e. verse leading to chorus, then back to verse, then a bridge, then back to final verse, etc. Then play your sequencer midi out and into the DR880 to do a final drum track out to your analog recording system?
I recently got a used one of these, I like it. But when I do a backup to my PC, which is the main reason I bought it, the file sizes are always exactly the same, this make me wonder if it's really saving what I've programmed. Anyone have experience with this, does it just have set file sizes and changed the information within that?
I suppose I should use a full frequency amp or PA to get a good sound for the Dr. Rhythm 880 right? I have a Boss loop station with a basic drum machine built-in and I use it through a Fender Vibro Champ XD Hybrid tube amp with an 8 inch speaker but the built-in drums sound terrible through this amp but recording with the looper part sounds great. Also, I am a guitarist, bass player and drummer so can I make my own beats and it play my beats while I play guitar. Does the 880 have an easy to control tempo knob?
Phenomenal Drum, Bass Machine with Guitar Multi FX Processor. I perform (live) with this, and it Sounds Incredible. Once you get the hang-of-it you will enjoy hours of Practice and Jamming along to Rock, Jazz, Reggae, Funk, House ( more fun & Creative then practicing with a metronome ). I also have 2 FS-6 Footswitches attached to Control: Start/Stop, On/Off/ Tap Tempo. It's a Beast of a Machine.
@Philip Elrod Go to the Groove Mode and experiment with the various different Swing and Shuffle options available. Copy your original pattern and Experiment with the Copy, so you do not Ruin your original.
Hi. You would be doing me a huge favor if you could take the time to explain to me how one could edit and customize the drum kits...for example, use the kick from one kit and the snare from another and the hi-hat from a third. If you know how of course. Tia!
@@AntwhaleNearfar Find a Drum Kit that you like. Go to Edit Kit. Each Drum pad has a Drum Sample assigned to it. Move the rotary wheel to Change the: Kick, Snare, ect . . . Save this New Kit as your Custom Kit. ( you can also change drum-sample-volume, pan-position, reverb levels & pitch ) as you scroll down during this process. Hope this Helps. oNe LovE from NYC
i want to sync. my Boss Dr670 with cubase LE5 on midi, that the Dr670 starts the pattern when i press play/record AT CUBASE to record it in audio. I put a midi cable to midi in(Dr670) and midi out(interface). Then i switch the Dr670 to midi mode and slave. what else has to be done? thanks (gerne auch in deutsch)
Hello from America..I been looking for a drum system that will work with a tascam dp-24.does this 880 have MIDI in and MIDI outs ? I been using DAW cubase but I want to ho back to the portastudio .any help will be welcomed! Thanks Scott
Hi Scott, this answer probably comes way too late, but anyway, yes you can do all of that. It has midi in and out and you can hook it up easily to any recording device. I hook it up to a Tascam dp 02. Very underated drum machine. You have to tweak the 'standard' sounds a bit too really let it shine. The build in effects also help ofcourse. Cheers. DD.
here is a great question I am curious to know the answer to please sir. 1. When you are playing the guitar, the bass that played along is it pre programmed or it follows whatever chords the guitar is playing automatically?
Hi, I have a 2 questions. 1. When you are playing the guitar, the bass that played along is it pre programmed or it follows whatever chords the guitar is playing automatically? 2. I've read the manual about the footswitches and it can be assigned as a "START/STOP" for playback. But can it be assigned to the "FILL" function? Hope you can help me on these infos. Thank you in advance.
This machine is horrible. It sounds good but is so dam slow to programma you could actually buy a kit and learn to drum quicker. i love Boss stuff normally but this is a train crash sadly
the only decent review of the DR 880 and this was made in 2010! respect! ahead of the game! Thank you!
Great video! I own the DR 880 but have not messed with it at all. This video inspired me to start using it today. Thanks!
your VIDEO is the best VIDEO i have seen so far regarding this product the BOSS DR 880. I love your video. man. great job.

ciao! una domanda...i patterns di batteria si possono poi registrare sul pc, magari usando un DAW come cubase or Fruity Loops? grazie mille!
hello my friend, how are you, are you fine. I have a Dr 880 rhythm box instrument. How can I create my own rhythms.
Can you show me how to create a song using my user patterns

I'm on the fence between one of these and the Alesis SR 18...
I bought both of them, they are the best bang for your buck.
Dr 880 is a better machine but the SR 18 is less expensive.

can you create tracks on the dr880, then export the drum track to an 8-track?

Hmmm ... excellent ... presentation and machine
Hi does this device just use 4/4 timing.. I need smthg that can produce 3/4 at least. Lovely machine tho
It does 3\4 in different waltz patterns, I'll tell you about other oriental numerics looking the manual....
Yes it has 5\4, 6\8 about 10 patterns...But you can record every beat you want, in empty pattern positions.
here is a great question I am curious to know the answer to please sir.
1. When you are playing the guitar, the bass that played along is it pre programmed or it follows whatever chords the guitar is playing automatically?
How do you get the DEMO SONG"S to play?
Hi Michael, Where could I get a good deal on this Boss like u for around $120 too?
you can save loops with input audio like a sinth?
thanks

Look in the "contents" of the booklet, it should tell you.
