- During my time playing Jedi Survivor out in LA I managed to find a boss fight in a Rancor pit where we get to take on one of the fabled creatures. During the fight one of the Respawn Developers tapped me on the shoulder and said there's a hidden easter egg to help you defeat him which we saw in the original trilogy. Can you guess what tactic Cal Kestis had to use to beat the rancor?

Gotta say as a fallen order player, watching this gave me flashbacks to the giant bat thing on Dathomir, thing was a menace

I spent like an hour fighting this thing and never even noticed any bones
funny thing about this game is you can just jump up on ledges and chip away at them while they just stand there lol
I took the energy ball in front of hell. 10x to the head and he was on the ground relatively quickly 😂

They got a bit of a framerate problem but they are gorgeous

I was in the caverns with the three saber weilding bounty hunters, i fell down into a pit, looked right, and a rancor came crawling out of the darkness. No cutscene but it was the most realistic gaming experiwnce ive ever had. Felt like something out of a film
They weren’t bounty hunters they were bedlam raider henchmen who worked for rayvis. And the worst part about that rancor is that it respawns when you rest

Dude when I first turned it scared the crap out of me. It almost looked like the snout of a T. rex in the shadow just before emerging. That was coolest in game trigger not cut scene. So smooth and so not expected.
Everytime I see a rancor come out all I think of is Star killer that shit was just so damn epic if Disney wanted money they’d make Star killer live action

Starkiller was stupidly op though. He was blitzing through hundreds of Rancors with ease.
If they bring him back, they need to drastically depower him.

This boss fight was hard as fuck that unblock-able grabbing thing he does fucked me up. Also spawn of oggdo is even harder lol
I struggled mightily with the spawn of oggdo, fighting it in the Force Tear
Or you can just climb back up that ladder and cheese the pure shit out of it, bc it won't even attack you while your up there
Yep that's what I did since I was playing on Grand Master and dying in 5/6 seconds every time I dropped down. Even better if you use the perk that lets you gain force over time and that way you can just saber throw from a safe distance until he's at 5% and then finish him off, preferably with dual wield stance since you can hit him twice as much.

I just stood up on the part where you jump down and just stood there and throwing my lightsaber over and over again until it died.

@@dylancooper4993 I did lol so I waited for one segment to fill back up and then threw it again and again and again and again for... About 15 minutes 😆 but hey I beat a legendary creature while I was a pretty low level
I was so salty I didn’t see the bones until after the fight. Thing was one shotting the hell out of me and staying on the move was the only real quick solution I came up with 😅
Imo one shot kills in boss fights are kinda bs. Its not fun
Or you can have it follow you to the entrance, jump up on the ledge and then throw your lightsaber at it from a safe distance til it dies. Takes a while for the force to recharge, but it's better than pulling your hair out trying to kill it the normal way.

@@gabrielquintanilla7118try double jumping to the side then dashing to the side. I had trouble too
Rancors are incredibly easy once you realise you can just dodge to the left when they use the grab. Definitely a tough fight if you haven't caught onto the patterns though.

It’s easy. The problem is, ur easy to kill. He’s just too fast
The dodge is like impossible to time right. I found the jump dodge the best way to avoid the insta kill by the rancor. This trick also works for the frog creature you fight later on.
that’s his easiest attack to dodge lol just space yourself better. maybe his stomps are a bit easier but still
@orionn3246 if you don't think the jump dodge makes it way easier, you can try it for yourself. You don't need timing at all once you figure out the move. Once I learned that skill, I literally beat this fight easily.

What I like is that after I killed that rancor I started encountering rancors in a specific area close to pyloons saloon where they will just start coming towards me like I was a cup of bobba tea
I like how the finisher is reminiscent of the Starkiller games
Then there's me harnessing my inner Jedi to land three or four hits between jumping around the rancor like a mad frog
the story of this game and even the campaign from the new battlefront 2 are so much better than the new movies
Double blade(not dual wield) is by far the best for beast and things that are almost instaggerable in my opinion
I used the dual wield against the rancor because of the instant parry thing you can do with it.
Literally just finished that rancor fight and I didn’t even know you could do that
I pieced him up when I first fought him and then saw the bones on the floor I was like damn missed opportunity
First time I ever fought the rancor I just hid on the ledge and hit it with lightsaber throws over and over again
Imagine if there's also a door in there that you can close on its head like in the movie

It took me 3 tries to beat that thing and didn't know anything about a damn bone. I just went hacking and slashing on that rancor lol

Just fought this guy for an hour wish I knew this that’s pretty cool, heard a lot of mixed reviews about the game’s ability to keep up with itself graphics wise but so far the combat is so much fun the level of different enemy’s in only a few hours of play is awesome and it really feels like you control each move you make a lot more.
Probably the most satisfying combat for a Star Wars game in a very long time

Go into pit, get rancor to chase you to the ledge, jump back up said ledge and lightsaber throw until dead.
My biggest flex is that I can say I beat this rancor first try

If by "hidden" you mean a side quest given to Cal before the major plot of the game really even gets going.

Do what I did use the cross guard stance get the power throw skill and stay on the ledge out of reach and spam throw ur lightsaber about 25 times and u defeat it eventually
I remember when I found the rancor, as I hadn't heard anything about them being in the game. It was my first major miniboss fight and I can honestly say I wasn't expecting it even slightly. My exact words when it's face came into view was "Oh shit.." I figured out the bone trick fairly quickly. Also that the double blade lightsaber is the best for him as it hits so many times on both legs that it kinda melts him
As soon as the cutscene started I said "fuckin rancor"😂 but when I defeated him I just stood up on the platform next to the meditation circle and threw my lightsaber at him

I of course noticed the bones after the fight and was upset
When i entered the rancor arena all i could think was "ah.... im not meant to be here"

I saw the video of the Rencor, fighting it a few months later and was so stressed out that I completely forgot about the bone thing. I only remembered it after I took the Rancor apart. And a little later I was killed outside by another one
Also for everyone having a hard time against Spawn of Ogdo: USE BLASTER STANCE
A charged blaster shot cancels the red attack animations and leaves him open for 2 or 3 lightsaber attacks

Lol figured this out after fighting him for a bit with dual wield then switching the blaster stance is broken strong my favorite stance for sure
I wanna play a SW game where you're just a Sith like Darth Malgus or everyone's favorite Revan. (I'd rather it just be Malgus or some new non-canon Sith) Being able to choose both is cool, but there hasn't been a New Gen SW Title where you play as an ultra-powerful Sith Lord the entire game, being a bad guy.
In fact, barely ANY games let you play as the villain. Like in Overlord or Psycho.
Started the game yesterday and just defeated the rancor, then found the bones afterwards and figured you could do this with the bones

That rancor has a the first place I wandered to when I got to the town. I died like 20 times before giving up and continuing to the main story. I kind of don’t like how far you need to progress through the story so you can explore. Can’t explore hardly anything early on
Or go back on the ledge and saberthrow a bunch, worked like a charm
The cool thing is that you can fight another one in the Phon'Qi caves
Bro I picked up in the bone thing almost immediately, it does help that the bone look unusually white giving an obvious hint that you can interact with it even so it took me like 30 tries to beat this MF.
Nah, I just arranged those in a triangle after stomping the little Goblin.
There's a second Rangkor too. And there's a 2 Rangkor "Boss Fight" just like the 2 Oggdos.
That would've been useful to know before I spent an hour killing it slowly
I only noticed that after I fought the rancor and that was after I completed the main journey and I was going around trying to find all the collectibles.
I had the hardest time beating the rancor my first time around because I was being greedy and trying to hurry the fight up. This fig hey and the second rancor fight is when you need to take your time and you’ll finish faster than if you rush through it.
Meanwhile how starkiller takes down a Rancor:😮
Can't tell you how pissed I was after defeating that thing normally then finding the bones on the ground and realizing what I missed out on

You can do it more than once, they left several bones there for you

Hardest fight is still that green slug thing. Harder than the any boss fight
Force Unleashed II was based off Star Wars Episode V and Force Unleashed 1 was based off of A New Hope
I died like 15 times in this fight never used the bones didn’t realize they were there till after cause that rancor was on my nuts lol

Lightsaber cuts through and melts steel. Lightsaber can't pierce Rankor skin. Make it make sense 😂
You can do it more than once btw. Ive done it. There's like 4 or 5 bones in the pit you can use.
The first thing I did when I got to the planet was explore and found it never used the bones
Get in between the Rancor’s legs. It worked. I struggled with any other approaches.
I just beat the Rancor , was on Jedi master , took me a few trys but it attacks are slow so you just need to wait for that opening, also having that blaster helps
I killed one under the hut on the main planet. You can use these exploding plants to kill it. If you do it from the right distance the stupid Rancor doesn't even attack you. I killed him and one of the hunter's the same exact way with zero damage. The hunters name was Brother something if that helps anyone. You access him by melting the passage away with the same exploding plant. Its under the hut not too far from the town we stay in.
Wait until you try and do the two Rancor force tear on master diff, it was painfully annoying with that insta-kill grab move

Also, there's an easier way to beat it!
Jump down and climb right back up where you jumped from to climb out. The Rancor will come to you. Click right stick to lock on and L1 triangle (y if Xbox) to use Saber throw from a safe ledge.
doesn't work if you play it on anything higher than wimp mode. on grand master you can bring it down to maybe 90% before you run out of force meter.
