My husband and four year old just did a vegan chicken nugget taste test and they did some of the same ones as you tried. I tasted the daring ones and almost spit it out. The nuggs ones weren’t good either. The only ones I liked was the impossible ones.

I feel like you need a graph to place them. Where one axis is how much it tastes like meat and the other is how good it tastes, so you can show if something tastes good, but maybe doesn't taste like meat and vice versa

Definitely a thing. For some people it's so important for things to taste like what they're imitating. For me who hasn't eaten chicken in decades I just want them to taste good. Very few do both.
I think that would be more clear to me. Maybe I'm dumb but I still don't quite understand the current system 😅
I was going to comment, those Dino nuggets sound like they taste exactly the same as the meat ones, which are horrible anyway. The brand makes terrible products. I just want a quality, tasty product!! I really enjoyed the vegan Mac n cheese tasting, this was super fun too, thanks!

We have a brand in europe called "The Vegetarian Butcher" and they make THE best vegan chicken nuggets... I only eat those these days :P
That’s the brand people got upset about because they were like “you can’t use the term butcher blah blah blah” right? That makes me respect them more for having to deal with that.

Raised & rooted being like "soy free... except for soybean oil" is like someone being like "vegan...except for some cheese" lol
"This could be vegan! except for the cheese..."is often how I cook.
They can legally label it as soy free since soybean oil doesn’t contain the protein from soy (which is what people with soy allergy are allergic to). People with soy allergies can typically consume foods that contain soybean oil
I actually really love the nuggs brand and the Dino ones, I legit eat them like every day! I’m not really looking for additional flavor/seasoning though so maybe that’s part of it.
Me too! I like them both wayyyyy better than the 2 Morning star and Gardeins. The ultimate chicken strips are the worst IMO.
Your vegan mac and cheese video helped me find the only vegan AND gluten free mac and cheese I've ever enjoyed after depriving myself for years from lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity! Love these videos.

Also MorningStar and Incogmeato are Kellogg’s Brands so you should also not support!

Love your ranking videos! Just a suggestion: you could rank the items even within each tier! For example, within the B tier, if Boca is better than Incogmeato, then Boca can be ahead of it. This adds to the ranking fun! I notice you just rank them into their tier in order of when you taste them. :)

I love jackfruit instead of chicken substitutes, especially in curry. It's so good.
Jack and Annie's are the best! She makes my favorite nuggz, meatballs and breakfast sausage patties. My go to breakfast sammy is a just egg patty, the J&A sausage and melted Miyoko's cheddar slices. So good.

this is the first time I have ever disagreed with Merle ;____; ! chicken nuggets generally aren't seasoned like KFC fried chicken with 11 herbs and spices. chicken nuggets are supposed to taste pretty plain and basic because generally they are geared towards kids. that being said, I do enjoy vegan nuggets as a vegetarian adult, but i think their purpose is mild "chicken" flavor, crispy outside, and to be enjoyed with delicious dipping sauces! Personally impossible nuggets are my #1. when I first tried them I actually cried lol

Veganism is 100% about animals actually. You should still try to be more ethical in all aspects but that has nothing to do with veganism.

I'm a non vegan, but have been trying a few vegan products here and there. I recently tried the impossible nuggets and as far as frozen nuggets go, it tasted no different to me then an actual chicken nugget. Before I even cooked them the smell reminded me of the oncor brand chicken patty.
I also tried the impossible meatballs. They're not amazing but still tasted good. My family has tried many brands of fresh or frozen actual meatballs, homemade recipes and the impossible meatballs tasted the better than all of them.
you should try the Beyond meatballs! they’re my favorite!
@@sarahhopkins5870 I haven't seen those by me. I wasn't a big fan of the beyond burger. I've seen sausages but since I've never been a big sausage eater I wasn't sure about trying those.

I'm a huuuuuge Aldi fan, and they have a FANTASTIC vegan chickenless tender from their "Earth Grown" line that seems to be a consistent item at my store. Super recommend them, they're always stocked in my freezer!! And pretty cheap too, $3.19 at my store for the box of about 9ish tenders total. Enjoy!

I do love the Impossible nuggets since my child's favorite stopped being made. You may want to try the Atlas Monroe chik'n tenders. They are a small black-owned business in California and they are not cheap, but they ship nationwide and they are delicious.
Love Morning Star but it's a Kellogg's company so I gotta hold off on them.

As a german my faves are "Rügenwalder" and "the vegetatian butcher". Not a vegan but whenever I have Burger King I'll go for the vegan nuggets and the vegan long chicken sandwich😊

Nooooooo! The raised and rooted are amazing! I’ve never had the spicy ones but the original are the best nuggets I’ve ever had. They remind us of McDonald’s nuggets. Try them!
Just tried the Daring nuggs and they are very good! I would recommend serving them with something like ketchup, since we tried with a ranch-y sauce, which gave it like fish-stick-and-tartar-sauce vibes lol
Daring is def by far the best. Their products are amazing. Also, Rasied & Rooted non spicy chic nuggs are great cooked in an air fryer dipped in a sriracha mayo dipping sauce. Nuggs definitely disappoint and are not worth the hype. I was excited to try them but after spending $7.99 on Nuggs I would rather eat the Dino nuggs lol love the video Merle

With the Kellogg strike going on, I would recommend leaving the MorningStar nuggets out of your shopping cart as MorningStar and Gardenburger brands are owned by Kellogg. Please and thank you ❤️.

I like the morning star nuggets. They're pretty cheap, I like to eat them with some alfredo lentil pasta and it goes well.
However I usually eat their buffalo chicken "wings". Those I actually consider nuggets, they're just shaped in a wing shape. I eat those plain, other flavors of those aren't so good. BBQ was ok.

Bought some quorn nuggs recently and noticed they weren’t vegan. Had to return them. They were vegetarian.
They are delicious; I love the mycoprotein. But their products are not vegan because they have dairy and egg!
I buy the regular Gardein brand tenders, because you can get them in the giant family size bags at super markets. They're decently priced and I love them. The only processed alternative I eat regularly
i LOVE the Gardein Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It is one of my go to easy meals at least once every week for when I don't feel like cooking or don't have too much time to cook.
The impossible nuggets had me questioning life. I honestly believed I was eating chicken. 365 is the underdog store brand that is a win simply on the price point.
I know seaweed is tried and true, but have you thought of trying toon (beef and onion) leaf, oyster leaf, or fish leaf to flavor meet inspired recipes? Not really related to nuggies, but just wondering:)
The raised and rooted plain ones remind me of mcds chickie nuggs and are my fave... Their breading looks different than the spicy one you tried tho.
morningstar and the morning star incogmeato and WF are my fav. I like them super crunchy and thick breading.

Raised and rooted were my first vegan nugget until I realized they were owned by Tyson, so I didn't want them anymore. I go for MorningStar because it's the best tasting available to me and they have other flavors but the comments are telling me their business isn't great. I really want to try Daring. I miss the realistic chicken texture so much. I don't really like Gardine.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned them, but I love Jack & Annie’s nuggets too, abcs they are a gluten free option. I also love Jack & Annie’s maple sausage kinks too. Yum!! I’ve served them to non vegans and they’ve enjoyed them. 😋

I LOVE the incogmeato and beyond ultimate tenders. For some reason the tenders are better. I love nuggs too, they give very much McDonald’s for me. I like the Dino ones for my kids because they’re definitely the most healthy lol. You’ve motivated me to try the daring brand though!

Thanks for the reviews. I agree: 365 is the nug, surprisingly. Haven't had Dare yet, but looking forward to it. Nuggs was very hyped, and I expected greatness, but to me, it tastes too much of fake grill flavor, much like Alpha. I like the coating and seasoning of Gardein Ultimate, but the chick has a weird taste and consistency like old Gardein. Good amount in the bag, though.
I know this is supposed to be for brands you can get in the store, but you should try the Nowadays nuggets! They only have 7 ingredients (of which 1 is water, so really it's 6 ingredients) and they're really tasty.
Petition to get your mom's reviews on something because I too have been a vegetarian far too long to be into imitation meats and want to know where my people are!!!! The chokehold artificial meats have on vegan menu items these days makes me want to cryyyyyyyyy.
I'm here!!😂 Totally agree. While I am all for them producing imitations that help people transition or just eat less meat, I don't enjoy them. I've been a vegetarian for almost 40 years and I just want items to taste good and not have that meat texture that makes me cringey. Good thing there are so many options out there. If new vegans ever tried the options there were decades ago they would be grateful to eat even Merle's unhappy face choices🤣

The Swedish “hälsans kök” nuggets are so good, they have sesame seeds in the breading, they’re similar to Gardeins where you know it’s not chicken at all but they’re great 😀 and there’s the brand “like meat” they have soy based, gluten free “like chicken wings” OMG tastes moist and springy as chiiickeeeen! (The absolute best for me)
I fry both kind in an air-fryer, and it’s magic 🪄
Imposible are my favorite BUT i always add seasoning to them-- I do a cajun and some sort of garlic salt. Helps a lot
Could you please experiment doing chicken nuggets using roasted chestnuts? I’ve been a vegetarian for a long time but I think chestnuts has a hint of chicken taste 🤷♀️ I might be wrong but that’s how roasted chestnuts taste to me.

The best ones I had for now are from "Garden gourmet" which is a brand owned by Nestlè (yeah, I know... not a fan of the company) and they're made out of pea protein and they are just great! They also make chicken without bredding, like it's chicken breast (but in little pieces) and oh boy it really seems and tastes like chicken!
Edit: I'm from Italy, but I guess Nestlè is anywhere in the world?? 🤔
