My husband and four year old just did a vegan chicken nugget taste test and they did some of the same ones as you tried. I tasted the daring ones and almost spit it out. The nuggs ones weren’t good either. The only ones I liked was the impossible ones.
I feel like you need a graph to place them. Where one axis is how much it tastes like meat and the other is how good it tastes, so you can show if something tastes good, but maybe doesn't taste like meat and vice versa
Definitely a thing. For some people it's so important for things to taste like what they're imitating. For me who hasn't eaten chicken in decades I just want them to taste good. Very few do both.
I was going to comment, those Dino nuggets sound like they taste exactly the same as the meat ones, which are horrible anyway. The brand makes terrible products. I just want a quality, tasty product!! I really enjoyed the vegan Mac n cheese tasting, this was super fun too, thanks!

Love your ranking videos! Just a suggestion: you could rank the items even within each tier! For example, within the B tier, if Boca is better than Incogmeato, then Boca can be ahead of it. This adds to the ranking fun! I notice you just rank them into their tier in order of when you taste them. :)
I'm a huuuuuge Aldi fan, and they have a FANTASTIC vegan chickenless tender from their "Earth Grown" line that seems to be a consistent item at my store. Super recommend them, they're always stocked in my freezer!! And pretty cheap too, $3.19 at my store for the box of about 9ish tenders total. Enjoy!

I do love the Impossible nuggets since my child's favorite stopped being made. You may want to try the Atlas Monroe chik'n tenders. They are a small black-owned business in California and they are not cheap, but they ship nationwide and they are delicious.

As a german my faves are "Rügenwalder" and "the vegetatian butcher". Not a vegan but whenever I have Burger King I'll go for the vegan nuggets and the vegan long chicken sandwich😊

Just tried the Daring nuggs and they are very good! I would recommend serving them with something like ketchup, since we tried with a ranch-y sauce, which gave it like fish-stick-and-tartar-sauce vibes lol
The impossible nuggets had me questioning life. I honestly believed I was eating chicken. 365 is the underdog store brand that is a win simply on the price point.
With the Kellogg strike going on, I would recommend leaving the MorningStar nuggets out of your shopping cart as MorningStar and Gardenburger brands are owned by Kellogg. Please and thank you ❤️.
Petition to get your mom's reviews on something because I too have been a vegetarian far too long to be into imitation meats and want to know where my people are!!!! The chokehold artificial meats have on vegan menu items these days makes me want to cryyyyyyyyy.
I'm here!!😂 Totally agree. While I am all for them producing imitations that help people transition or just eat less meat, I don't enjoy them. I've been a vegetarian for almost 40 years and I just want items to taste good and not have that meat texture that makes me cringey. Good thing there are so many options out there. If new vegans ever tried the options there were decades ago they would be grateful to eat even Merle's unhappy face choices🤣
Morning star back in the day was the jam.it was great,for what it was.its non comparable to today's other vegan products but it did have its time to shine
I like the morning star nuggets. They're pretty cheap, I like to eat them with some alfredo lentil pasta and it goes well. However I usually eat their buffalo chicken "wings". Those I actually consider nuggets, they're just shaped in a wing shape. I eat those plain, other flavors of those aren't so good. BBQ was ok.
Merle!!!! I am in love with those impossible nuggets. The spice factor can be tweaked and think of all of the things you could do with them. They're the best.
I know it would probably be unfair to judge amongst the others but I absolutely love the morning star buffalo chicken nuggets. So good with follow your heart ranch the nuggets have a great kick. So far the beyond popcorn chicken has been the best “chicken nugget” for me. It is sooo good
i LOVE the Gardein Spicy Chicken Sandwich. It is one of my go to easy meals at least once every week for when I don't feel like cooking or don't have too much time to cook.
I know this is supposed to be for brands you can get in the store, but you should try the Nowadays nuggets! They only have 7 ingredients (of which 1 is water, so really it's 6 ingredients) and they're really tasty.
I LOVE the impossible nuggets....but in the air fryer! they get crispy and are so good! I use them to make "chicken" sliders. THe impossible meatballs in the air fryer- OMG! sooooo good! I made meatball subs with them last night. My husband even said it was the best meatball sandwich he's had!
Could you please experiment doing chicken nuggets using roasted chestnuts? I’ve been a vegetarian for a long time but I think chestnuts has a hint of chicken taste 🤷♀️ I might be wrong but that’s how roasted chestnuts taste to me.
Raised and rooted were my first vegan nugget until I realized they were owned by Tyson, so I didn't want them anymore. I go for MorningStar because it's the best tasting available to me and they have other flavors but the comments are telling me their business isn't great. I really want to try Daring. I miss the realistic chicken texture so much. I don't really like Gardine.
I think the Nuggs need a second chance, but with the Spicy version. I didn't like the regular ones, but Spicy Nuggs with bbq sauce are absolutely delicious!
I LOVE the incogmeato and beyond ultimate tenders. For some reason the tenders are better. I love nuggs too, they give very much McDonald’s for me. I like the Dino ones for my kids because they’re definitely the most healthy lol. You’ve motivated me to try the daring brand though!
The vegan Dino nuggs are such a good deal for the stats and price. They just need an Asian chili oil Vegenaise dipping sauce. Mix all this up: chili oil, Gochujang, nutritional yeast, powdered onion and garlic, Sichuan peppercorn (or black pepper and ground coriander), rice wine vinegar (or lemon juice or Louisiana Hot Sauce) and Vegenaise. I put ALL that together and mix it up, then let it sit in a sealed container in the refrigerator so the flavors marry and then TRY not to eat it all! 😊
Seriously the only reason impossible is killing the fake meat game is because they actually add moisture to things. So cooking it doesn't immediately dry it out, that's the only thing I care about anymore I really can't go back to morning star insulation coated in cardboard crumb. Also those impossible nuggets are great and absolutely worth the splurge if you see them.
I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned them, but I love Jack & Annie’s nuggets too, abcs they are a gluten free option. I also love Jack & Annie’s maple sausage kinks too. Yum!! I’ve served them to non vegans and they’ve enjoyed them. 😋
I would rank them basically the same! Boca ones we do buy more because they are more plain which my (20 year old) son likes. My daughter (18) likes the spicy ones. Daring and impossible are a little too pricey to keep up with. Whole Foods brand is definitely the winner overall. And yes, I totally got a ton of Nuggs ads and even ordered some on their kickstarter which was refunded months later because they ran out of Nuggs. I did finally order some later but they were definitely “meh”. My 16 year old daughter wanted Dino nuggets (tik tok trend) and Nuggs has Dino nuggets so I got those for her. You’d think having kids this old would have me out of the nugget game but here we are 🤷♀️😂
Quorn frustrate me as their crispy nuggets used to be vegan but they added egg and milk back in to them. There was no need and so many of their products could be made without
Oh my god u NEEEED to try quorn buffalo dippers!!! They’re vegan and soy free 🤩 the taste is amazing and they’re so moist in the air fryer (DO NOT MICROWAVE, they’re awful that way 😭)
I've ate Morning Star nuggets a few times and I will tell you that after a while they just start tasting disgusting. Whatever they put in them is subtle, but once you learn it you'll gag just from smelling those nuggets.
FYI a lot of 365 branded products are exactly name brand vegan products in private label packaging. Especially with plant based/dietary products. 365 oatmilk is oatly, plant based veggie slices are light life and vegan cheese is violife. I would not be surprised if the nuggets are as well.

Daring Chicken is literally the best and it is worth the $4.98/bag. I also really like the Yummy Dino Nuggets, they taste like the organic, grass fed chicken nuggets my mom used to buy. I deep fry them so that may also play a part in why they taste so good to me. The impossible nuggets are also really good! But this review was really good and super spot on!
Ok, I'm glad my Nuggs experience didn't lead me astray- I had the same reaction. They seemed kind of dry, not super flavorful, and weirdly thin and the texture was just... fine. They weren't bad but they weren't super exciting. I wondered if maybe I got a bad box but didn't want to buy another because at the time they were definitely more expensive than $5.99 for a box!

For the gardein tenders..im not vegan quite yet but i like them. They dont taste like chicken but frozen chicken nuggets dont really taste like chicken half the time so it was good enough to me for what it was
It might be worth tracking down the original Raised and Rooted. They are super good andfreakishly similar to McDonalds nugs. From the video, it looks like the spicy has a different breading texture compared to the original.
Thanks for this vid. One thing that will stop me from trying something is ingredients. If they have: MSG, canola oil or high fructose corn syrup. The only nugget I like is Impossible. I actually LOVE it. I have tried a few and they were nasty AF 1) mushy 2) weird taste and mouth feel. Impossible is the perfect blend IMHO.
Haven’t tried 365 but def want to. Morning Star are my go-to for adding chickie to anything cause they’re cheap, accessible, hold up really well and are just enough to work as chickn. I like the old ones better than the incogmeato ones. Impossible were SO disappointing and I choked through the bag. They were terrible and so expensive. Very bland, weak texture like too soft, meh coating, overall bleh. I like the Simulate ones specifically because they hold up so good in ramen and stuff. They’re a little tough/dry when you just air fry em and eat em though. Gotta pick your prep method carefully with them. Daring is surprisingly good, very well seasoned across the entire brand. Great for adding to dishes. I use their brand range for lotsa applications because they have so many styles and flavors. Def an underrated/used brand. The Gardein tenders (and all their chicken and burgers aside from the chickn sliders) range between bleh and terrible I think. I can’t stand the gristle bits in the ‘ultimate’ chick’n line. Haven’t had the Boca because of all the issues with the brand and labeling and ingredients. I just wasn’t sure if I was going to get the bad stuff so I just stayed away from the brand. Raised and Rooted are super suspicious to me and I will not touch them. I would also be wary of recommending them. They ‘changed’ the label what, two years ago? But my local grocery stores (like 7 of them) still have the old bag with the egg whites in them. And the new ‘no animal product’ lines still aren’t labeled vegan and the Tyson website even goes out of its way to separate their product, plant based, from vegan products. So those natural flavors are no bueno imo. I’m glad they aren’t highly rated in this video. If you’re looking for a tasty vegan chicken I would recommend the Gardein sliders and I have been emailing them for years asking them to sell those patties separately, and to use that recipe for nugs/more products, because I would buy them in a second, in bulk. Instead they came out with the gristly weird powdery Ultimate line. D: The new Stranger Things nugs are also shockingly fantastic! If you air fry them they get really hard on the outside, they’re a craggly thick breaded nug BUT it makes them amazing vehicles for SAUCIN which is a problem with most of the bread-crumb coated nugs on the market. I just saw the Beyond nugs at my local grocery store but have yet to try them. I don’t know if they’re the same recipe as the KFC ones, which are highly rated, or a new recipe for store sales. I’ma pick them up next time I go shopping.
There’s a brand called Jack and Annie’s, I usually get mine from sprouts. Oh my God. Just the best. 6 min in the air fryer at 380. Shake and then 6 more minutes.

Here is what I will say: the dino nuggets are probably not great BUT they taste IDENTICAL to the meat version. The first time I had them I freaked out just bc of the accuracy. If you for some reason miss the originals buy them

Raised and rooted were my first vegan nugget until I realized they were owned by Tyson, so I didn't want them anymore. I go for MorningStar because it's the best tasting available to me and they have other flavors but the comments are telling me their business isn't great. I really want to try Daring. I miss the realistic chicken texture so much. I don't really like Gardine.

I think the Nuggs need a second chance, but with the Spicy version. I didn't like the regular ones, but Spicy Nuggs with bbq sauce are absolutely delicious!
I LOVE the incogmeato and beyond ultimate tenders. For some reason the tenders are better. I love nuggs too, they give very much McDonald’s for me. I like the Dino ones for my kids because they’re definitely the most healthy lol. You’ve motivated me to try the daring brand though!
The vegan Dino nuggs are such a good deal for the stats and price. They just need an Asian chili oil Vegenaise dipping sauce. Mix all this up: chili oil, Gochujang, nutritional yeast, powdered onion and garlic, Sichuan peppercorn (or black pepper and ground coriander), rice wine vinegar (or lemon juice or Louisiana Hot Sauce) and Vegenaise. I put ALL that together and mix it up, then let it sit in a sealed container in the refrigerator so the flavors marry and then TRY not to eat it all! 😊
Seriously the only reason impossible is killing the fake meat game is because they actually add moisture to things. So cooking it doesn't immediately dry it out, that's the only thing I care about anymore I really can't go back to morning star insulation coated in cardboard crumb. Also those impossible nuggets are great and absolutely worth the splurge if you see them.
Nuggs are good asf. You just gotta shazam it up a bit- Add a little bit of oil, salt, paprika & pepper & then right in the air fryer 🤌🏽

Gotta get the Buffalo (or BBQ) Morningstar nuggs for the best showing. But Morningstar is Kelloggs so prolly avoid for now..
And the Simulate Nuggs Spicy version are way better too.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned them, but I love Jack & Annie’s nuggets too, abcs they are a gluten free option. I also love Jack & Annie’s maple sausage kinks too. Yum!! I’ve served them to non vegans and they’ve enjoyed them. 😋
I would rank them basically the same! Boca ones we do buy more because they are more plain which my (20 year old) son likes. My daughter (18) likes the spicy ones. Daring and impossible are a little too pricey to keep up with. Whole Foods brand is definitely the winner overall. And yes, I totally got a ton of Nuggs ads and even ordered some on their kickstarter which was refunded months later because they ran out of Nuggs. I did finally order some later but they were definitely “meh”. My 16 year old daughter wanted Dino nuggets (tik tok trend) and Nuggs has Dino nuggets so I got those for her. You’d think having kids this old would have me out of the nugget game but here we are 🤷♀️😂

The raised and rooted plain ones remind me of mcds chickie nuggs and are my fave... Their breading looks different than the spicy one you tried tho.
I really like a Wegman based brand vegan chicken nuggets, they air fry really well too.
We have a brand near me called Quorn. I know the 'cutlets' they used to sell were very good, but maybe you could add the nuggs for a Round 2

Quorn frustrate me as their crispy nuggets used to be vegan but they added egg and milk back in to them. There was no need and so many of their products could be made without

Oh my god u NEEEED to try quorn buffalo dippers!!! They’re vegan and soy free 🤩 the taste is amazing and they’re so moist in the air fryer (DO NOT MICROWAVE, they’re awful that way 😭)
Quorn/mycoprotein nuggets are pretty good too.
I've ate Morning Star nuggets a few times and I will tell you that after a while they just start tasting disgusting. Whatever they put in them is subtle, but once you learn it you'll gag just from smelling those nuggets.
FYI a lot of 365 branded products are exactly name brand vegan products in private label packaging. Especially with plant based/dietary products. 365 oatmilk is oatly, plant based veggie slices are light life and vegan cheese is violife. I would not be surprised if the nuggets are as well.

The morningstar and dino nuggets are my faves.
Daring Chicken is literally the best and it is worth the $4.98/bag. I also really like the Yummy Dino Nuggets, they taste like the organic, grass fed chicken nuggets my mom used to buy. I deep fry them so that may also play a part in why they taste so good to me. The impossible nuggets are also really good! But this review was really good and super spot on!

Ok, I'm glad my Nuggs experience didn't lead me astray- I had the same reaction. They seemed kind of dry, not super flavorful, and weirdly thin and the texture was just... fine. They weren't bad but they weren't super exciting. I wondered if maybe I got a bad box but didn't want to buy another because at the time they were definitely more expensive than $5.99 for a box!
Also, have you tried Quorn nuggets? They're my all-time favorite faux nug.

For the gardein tenders..im not vegan quite yet but i like them. They dont taste like chicken but frozen chicken nuggets dont really taste like chicken half the time so it was good enough to me for what it was
It might be worth tracking down the original Raised and Rooted. They are super good andfreakishly similar to McDonalds nugs. From the video, it looks like the spicy has a different breading texture compared to the original.

One thing that will stop me from trying something is ingredients. If they have: MSG, canola oil or high fructose corn syrup. The only nugget I like is Impossible. I actually LOVE it. I have tried a few and they were nasty AF 1) mushy 2) weird taste and mouth feel.
Impossible is the perfect blend IMHO.
FYI “natural flavors” means it has some form of MSG, or flavor enhancers.

Morning Star are my go-to for adding chickie to anything cause they’re cheap, accessible, hold up really well and are just enough to work as chickn. I like the old ones better than the incogmeato ones.
Impossible were SO disappointing and I choked through the bag. They were terrible and so expensive. Very bland, weak texture like too soft, meh coating, overall bleh.
I like the Simulate ones specifically because they hold up so good in ramen and stuff. They’re a little tough/dry when you just air fry em and eat em though. Gotta pick your prep method carefully with them.
Daring is surprisingly good, very well seasoned across the entire brand. Great for adding to dishes. I use their brand range for lotsa applications because they have so many styles and flavors. Def an underrated/used brand.
The Gardein tenders (and all their chicken and burgers aside from the chickn sliders) range between bleh and terrible I think. I can’t stand the gristle bits in the ‘ultimate’ chick’n line.
Haven’t had the Boca because of all the issues with the brand and labeling and ingredients. I just wasn’t sure if I was going to get the bad stuff so I just stayed away from the brand.
Raised and Rooted are super suspicious to me and I will not touch them. I would also be wary of recommending them. They ‘changed’ the label what, two years ago? But my local grocery stores (like 7 of them) still have the old bag with the egg whites in them. And the new ‘no animal product’ lines still aren’t labeled vegan and the Tyson website even goes out of its way to separate their product, plant based, from vegan products. So those natural flavors are no bueno imo. I’m glad they aren’t highly rated in this video.
If you’re looking for a tasty vegan chicken I would recommend the Gardein sliders and I have been emailing them for years asking them to sell those patties separately, and to use that recipe for nugs/more products, because I would buy them in a second, in bulk. Instead they came out with the gristly weird powdery Ultimate line. D:
The new Stranger Things nugs are also shockingly fantastic! If you air fry them they get really hard on the outside, they’re a craggly thick breaded nug BUT it makes them amazing vehicles for SAUCIN which is a problem with most of the bread-crumb coated nugs on the market.
I just saw the Beyond nugs at my local grocery store but have yet to try them. I don’t know if they’re the same recipe as the KFC ones, which are highly rated, or a new recipe for store sales. I’ma pick them up next time I go shopping.

There’s a brand called Jack and Annie’s, I usually get mine from sprouts. Oh my God. Just the best. 6 min in the air fryer at 380. Shake and then 6 more minutes.

Here is what I will say: the dino nuggets are probably not great BUT they taste IDENTICAL to the meat version. The first time I had them I freaked out just bc of the accuracy. If you for some reason miss the originals buy them
