      lovely video, my friend.
There is more to Mephisto and his plot, hidden in Diablo 4, in seemingly unnoticable conversations.
For example, Tyrael seems to know, what might unfold in the near future because of the Lilith events.
It is a sidenote, when you enter the Horadric Vault with Donan, when Nyrelle asks, who lived there and Donan tells us, that their Teacher, Tyrael, left in a hurry, seemingly being in fear of something. He didn't show it to them, but Donan sais he knew him well and so could tell, that something wasn't right.
Yes, it is a mere speculation, but as the aspect of wisdom, maybe Tyrael got a glimpse of a horrifying future and set out, to seek a way to avert it.
As he left the playing field of Diablo 4, otherwise, we would have stumbled upon him anyways, I believe, that, same as Nyrelle, he set out west. Maybe to the ruins of Tristram?
Could it be possible, that Nyrelle hopes about a way to kill Mephisto, maybe with the help of the Hellforge?

Since the first time i played the game... and interact with him in the quest i knew it.
Its exactly that... But well demons dont really die atlest the 7 big ones, they reform. Question is can lilith reform? ANgels die, and NEVER GET BACK, the only exception was Tyrael that got saved somehow and reformed in the heaven.
When a angel die, his essence get reformed BUT its not the same angel. Example if hope angel die, the hope essence will be reborn but has another angel.

4:25 is explained in Diablo lore. During the Sin War Lilith's activelitly and more than once, conquered the whole Temple of Triune and finally converted it to the Templed of The One(as of her own).
In Diablo's lore, Lilith has being banished to the Void, a place that even Rathma could not reach with his full nephalem power, not once, but escaped Thrice. The last time, during the prelude of Diablo IV.
Elias himself was a member of the Triune.
And, Lilith has even proven to be more fearsome than other Lords of Hell, by being the FIRST entity/human/demon/angel to SUMMON a Prime Evil to Sanctuary, something considered Impossible, using the Rite of Blood(when the WorldStone was still protecting it and was not Corrupted by Baal), and by the mere fact that she was "weakened" by the ritual, she acknowledge to serve under Diablo's army as a Commander(Diablo II).
I care to say, the wolf is Lilith. She has, during the lore, proven to be able to cheat Death x number of times and to be able to assume forms and create substitute of herself.
She manipulated by doppelgangering her own father to avoid being trapped in the SoulStone(which have been proven to be the only way to actually kill a prime evil, imprison it, and destroy the soulstone on the HellForge).
And, by the way, i care to say she manipulated Donan from start. The tuning of the SoulStone is perfectly in balance with the Mephisto's SoulStone, even the color, she always despised her father, only cared for her brother before Sanctuary.
Mephisto may be the most under explored one on games, but, Lilith is the most powerfull Demon to ever existed, i would love to see the plot twist of her being the Wolf guiding Neirele, and the Mephisto's soulstone used as a sacrifice to re-summon Diablo.

However the only 2 people you truly understood this was Deckard Cain and Tyreal who aren't in the picture. There's a reason that Mephisto said that the path of the Horadrim is done to failure, they are as much a tool for the three as they are for the angels, perhaps even more so.

An interesting tidbit, is that Mephisto was the first to be able to breach his soulstone containment. He then used this breach to have his soulstone shattered, and each piece of it was then embedded into a faithful member of the High Council of the Zakarum minus Khalim. The reason we go into the Sankekur tomb is because he was the physical embodiment of Mephisto during his imprisonment years. Mephisto is the one that creates the events of Diablo 1, which begins Diablo 2 and sets up Baal to destroy the Worldstone (the only item capable of creating powerful enough soulstones to permanently contain a Prime Evil.) Even if you look at The Coven, which was one of the few surviving Cults of the Triune left, Adria doesn't side with the Lesser Evils, she sides with the Prime Evils, Diablo specifically. Maghda and her have a falling out, which could have been because of the hitching of the Coven's wagon to the Lesser Evils. Hatred comes in many forms, and Adria was interested in learning from the Zakarum and the Mage Clans because Power was everything. She states that she ended up in Tristram because she was almost compelled to go there, that the dark power emanating from the church called to her. But if she had gone to the Zakarum temple in Kurast, or even to Kehjistan in that era, Mephisto was already freely corrupting the world around him there. Whose to say... even her presence at Tristam wasn't preordained? I don't think the creators are 5 head chessing this out THAT far, but the past has shown that Mephisto is always the harbinger of the return of his Brothers and is always the one who plans for the long term.
Also, from the understanding of formal soulstones we currently have, not a shard like Baal's was in D2, the Evils can't regain lost power, they just gain the ability to use their corruptive natural influence more, as the soulstone gets tainted by the power they have at the moment of imprisonment. My theory is that Mephisto wanted to be trapped in a weakened state, so that he could go further, without having an outward corruptive presence in Neyrelle. This would allow her to go to more places, find more information, and give Mephisto the current state of affairs of the world before he makes further plans. He can, also, keep his corruptive powers lowered at his own desire, though the natural corruption of the stone would eventually still corrode away at Neyrelle.

I am trying not to hate you for this." which made me think he intentionally set a chain reaction into motion that ends with Neyrelle taking imprisoning him in the soul stone.
I mean.. in the very least I think Neyrelles statement after her mother died is foreshadowing something. It can't be a coincidence that she says that she tries not to hate you and then literally ends up with the prime evil of harted in her pockets.
My theory so far: I think he is already corrupting her since the moment she imprisoned him, because he in his wolf form is shadowing her at any moment since then and it looks like no one can see him. He is always right at her side.

She serves as a very interesting and multifaceted antagonist, one that you always feel is actually in the right about many things. I was hoping that the base game would end with the release of one of the three prime evils, and that's pretty much what happened. To have it be all according to his plan as well is just extra icing on the cake. Mephisto was there, influencing us in his wolf form right from the very first plot point. Him having played chess with us and the other characters as pieces is definitely not our imagination. Diablo IV:s codename during development was "Project Fenris" after all.

You could also say that Mephisto effectively trapped the two people in Sanctuary with the the power to oppose him, Angels and demons can't really die, but it will take time for them to reform, but even if they do come back Lilith and Inarius (probably in a cool demonic/fallen angel form) are trapped in hell and cannot fight him. and now he is free to pull Tristam 2.0 more or less unimpeded.

When an angel is destroyed, a new angel bearing the same powers and representing the same values gets created by the Crystal Arch in the High Heavens. But it won't be the same individual angel, rather a brand new one. So, a different "person" who has no connection to their predecessor outside of being created as a replacement.
So, now that Inarius is dead. He is presumably gone for good. A new angel should eventually be born to take Inarius' old seat in the High Heavens. They won't be born as a fallen angel just because they're replacing Inarius.
That being said, there is a reason why fans tend to confuse angelic rebirth for absolute immortality. That reason is Tyrael. He is an angel who was reborn as himself after dying. But he is actually an exception, the only known angel to have ever come back from death. His death wasn't typical either. He died shattering the Worldstone.

I just finished the game again with the barbarian, and before i fought lilith, i found almost all her altars, and i think this changed something.
After the credits it suddenly appeared a flash of diablo (similar to mephisto's after we kill lilith).
I think this is a hint that even if we didn't see him, he is still doing something in the shadows maybe along with mephisto.
Could it be that the one neyrelle imprisoned in the soulstone is diablo himself and not mephisto (hence why the bloodied wolf was still around after neyrelle imprisoned the supposed mephisto) or that the bloodied wolf is diablo and not mephisto?
Or maybe the player got possessed by mephisto the moment we got his "blessing" when he helps us against lilith after she traps in the nightmare.

What you saw after the credits was definitely not Diablo himself. You can look up the video here on youtube and pause it at the right moment then you will see that is not Diablo. Most likely it is Lucion which is the brother of Lilith and the herald of the prime evils in Sanctuary if you would like. Also i think Mephisto can use his wolf form whether he is regenerating in Hell or trapped in a soul stone, it seems more to be just a manifestation of his influence rather then a manifestation of his power and we know the evils can corrupt the world around them even when in a soul stone.

It's glaringly obvious that Mephisto planned everything if you've followed the lore since the beginning. He's always been the unspoken leader of the three primes, despite Diablo getting more of the focus.
He's regarded as the most intelligent of all the prime evils. He's Belial's mentor, the literal Lord of Lies learned everything he knows from Mephisto. It was Mephisto's plan that freed all of them in the first place. He was the one that corrupted the Zakurum and planted Leoric and Lazarus in Tristram to set in motion the events of Diablo 1. It's actually really strange just how little focus has been on him from the player's side, if you're paying ANY attention to the teachings of the Horadrim then he should have been priority #1.
Everything I just said is easily verifiable, now this is more speculation on my part but I strongly suspect that Lilith was a puppet the entire time. He knew when he spawned her that she would go rogue and create Sanctuary. In fact he counted on it. Because he knows how powerful Nephalem are and he wants to wield their power. None of this is an accident, Mephisto is cunning on a scale that mortals can't even comprehend.
Why else would he even want a daughter? Demons have no concept of parental urges. But a lesser version of yourself that you can tweak to manipulate however you see fit, now that's useful if you're an all-powerful force of evil.

Mephisto is also implied to be the wolf that kills the Wanderer's horse at the start of the game, railroading them into his plans. I did think Lilith was the big bad in the beginning until we learn that wolf was mephisto, knowing full well he is manipulative and most likely was pulling the strings to get us to kill Lilith who wanted to end the eternal war. I understand the reasoning as to why people think Lilith would rule over everything at the top, but at least from my understanding Lilith has always been one for people making their own choices, I don't recall her actively telling someone what to do. “I saw my corpse, and from my mouth crawled Hatred,”
I think this might be referring to the prophecy itself being inspired by Mephisto, hatred’s words crawling out of Rathma’s mouth.
This fits neatly with how in control Mephisto is of every event in the story (likely even being the one to let Inarius escape hell so the rest of it happens as planned).
“A father burned his children on a pyre”
    Referring to Inarius.
“and a mother molded a new age from the ashes,
I saw the weak made strong,
a pack of lambs feasting on wolves,”
Referring to Lilith and the results of her actions on sanctuary.
“Tears of blood rained on a desert jewel,”
    Event in Caldeum.
“and the way to Hell was torn asunder”
Lilith opening the gate to hell.
“Then came a spear of light, piercing Hatred's heart,”
This could either be referring to Inarius’ hateful heart being pierced by his own spear of light or to Mephisto being pierced by the soul stone.
“And he who was bound in chains was set free."
I believe this part hasn’t occurred yet and that it is referring to Mephisto escaping his imprisonment in the soulstone on sanctuary (which is inevitable considering he knows how to corrupt soul stones.

Now i understand that its the player charackter so ofc we cant just be influenced by it and other gameplay stuff, but i would also like to believe that when mephisto found us in the cave and we had visions of him, maybe he gave us some kind of protection. He could have made a connection with us, like the connection we have with lilith because her blood was fed to us, giving us some kind of protection against her, he always seemed to know where to find us, for example the horadrim trap, helping us/stepping in when we could have used it and without disturbing liliths plan until the very end. In the quest to help Donan fight his inner demon, the thing we see is mephisto, not lilith despite the fact that we got infused with her blood. I also love the fact that, while u pointed it out in ur viedeo, in the end we see Mephistos Statue standing there, it is also us, standing right next to it, almost like his champion. He wanted to be put in the Soulstone and knew you would get rid of Inarius and Lilith, either directly or by proxy.
The question is, what is his plan going forward? is he just going to try to re-manifest and take control?
or do the plan of Diablo and take in all the powers of the other prime evils (and possibly lesser evils?)
or even something new we did not account for yet?
Time and DLC will likely tell.

Having himself trapped in a Soulstone gave, Mephisto a way out of Hell and back out to Sanctuary. Which is what he wanted. All Mephisto has to do now is wait. Wait for the right person to Influence and have them use the Soulstone.

This not only sounds great but it really fits. As so far this is the first Diablo game that didn't have Diablo in it (as a boss) I can't wait for the expansions to see more of the story unfold. Or even if we'll get to see some story elements in the seasons. My one question though is it's the eternal conflict as the demons and angles always come back, but is that just the most powerful of the groups? Will Lilith and inarius come back or at they dead for good?

    • @calvinwilson3617
      @calvinwilson3617 Год назад

I believe the implication is that both of them are dead, as imperius has been abandoned by heaven, as well as he died in hell. As for lilith we watch her regenerate once, so i took it as meaning that she has been fully eliminated after the second time, because she is in hell and we have dedtroyed her power

I had my gut feeling about Mephisto actually being the puppet master. When Neyrelle started joining us more towards the end it began to turn my perspective around that shit what if Lilith isn’t really the villain here?!? At the last section, how easily he succumbed to that soulstone and like you said, his protest too it was incredibly weak and hella sus. I believe we’re gonna end up regretting not siding with Lilith, and DLC might or expansions will put some content in where basically we try to bring her back somehow and I wouldn’t even take offense if she’s like “nah bruh!” 😂

@@MitChHic Oh absolutely, funny part is technically even though we never sided with Lilith we have become what she wanted us to be, the protector of Sanctuary because it is inevitable that our character will continue doing what is perceived to be necessary to safeguard the people of Sanctuary from all threats and that we will have to deal with Mephisto as it is the Diablo universe, there are no happy endings

Meph corrupted the entire temple city of Zakarum from a soulstone and got a body to inhabit without the help of his brothers. Neyrelle seems like easy pickings considering that.
The problem is what can he really do from Sanctuary with the world stone destroyed? The nephalem-to-human debuff is still gone. For one thing, the D3 hero may still be out there (and they've beaten the power of all the evils at once), and even if they are not, the journey Meph orchestrates with the D4 hero creates them into something that can kick his own ass anyway. I know they've said the D4 heroes are humans, but what else is the level up and paragon process if not unlocking inherent nephalem based power?
Finally, the one guy that knew how to depower humans was Inarius, and Meph got him killed too more or less. I just don't see how any of this is helping Meph. He should have reformed himself in hell and corrupted humans from there like before. The Triune back in the day was a world power, that was the time to send humans against heaven working with demons and win the eternal conflict.

We cannot forget that this soulstone was forged through anger. Donan was pounding it with anger, frustration and hate: nothing more than creating a stone "born" of hate energy. Basically the "spiritual charge" of the soulstone is made of Hate, Mephisto`s domain.

I thought the spear of light piercing hatred's heart was Inarius getting stabbed by Lilith? Like it's a misdirect because the obvious answer is "Inarius stabs Lilith" but really it was Inarius who was filled with hate in the end. He only stabbed her stomach while she seemingly one-shot him through the heart.

Great video as always! Using Mephisto as the mastermind in the shadows was a really good idea. The thing I like the least about the story (aside from the stupid death of Donan) is the PC. Imo they should either have given them more lines and personality (like for example in the Witcher), or if they go the route of "make your own PC/story for your PC" (like Elder Scrolls) they should give you choices. The way it is now, the PC just seems boring and a bit dumb....

Great video. My only criticism would be that this is more speculation than lore. As there is no concrete fact for the speculation. Now, could this turn out to be true. Absolutely, and I hope some of this does. I kept telling my friends, through playing the campaign together, that Evil only looks out for themselves. Any of the Prime Evils would try to turn an unfortunate and seemly unwinnable situation into their advantage. Mesphisto being the most intelligent and cunning of the Prime Evils. It would be so easy to turn the situation into his favor. However, does that mean that it was Mephisto that attacked the horse? Until that is stated in game. We can only speculate to this theory. But I could see this one day being the lore for sure. As I said great video

The Prime Evil's scheming and foresight is unmatched. Diablo came up with the plan for him and his brothers to become trapped in the soul stones to eventually all becoming trapped in the black soul stone, before they even created the Triune. That's like dozens of centuries of planning and knowing what would happen ahead of time. With that said, this wouldn't be the first, even second time, a Prime Evil's plan was to willingly go into a soul stone. (Edit: ah, you mention this at the end.) 😊

    Here's a question.
What if mephisto wasn't just playing lilith now, but since she and her brother were made?
What if sanctuary was always his plan?
And what if innarius was also always been played, not since lilith, but before?
Is there anyone in heaven that would play a mephisto's role?
I'm not saying it's all a plan that goes without flaws, certainly mephisto had to improvise.
Think how heaven didn't have much of a concept of birth by mingling, so who ever played innarius probably thought of using the world stone as another crystal arch.
