Z4M Coupe almost crash at the Nurburgring

  • BMW Z4 M Coupe at the Nürburgring Nordschleife during tourist drive. A little reminder to be extra cautious in Toursit drives. As I was approaching Schwedenkreuz I though the bike was going to stay on the right but he moved into the left lane where I had to reduce speed mid-corner and went into lift-off oversteer and almost charshed. Thankfully All ended fine :-)
    - Stock S54 engine with eventuri intake and evolve tune (345hP)
    - Bilstein B16 PSS10 suspension
    - D2 big brake kit (355mm disc) Pagid RSL29 pads all round
    - Goodyear Supersport Tyres (235/40 R18 front and 255/40 R18 rear)
    - 1.340 kg with 1/4 tank fuel and no driver
    - CSL front anti-roll bar

    On the ring you should also understand how the bikes behave in the corners so you could anticipate better when you are next to the bike. Just my 2 cents. Good save anyway.

      I tried to describe the event a little in the video description, the issue was that I didn’t anticipate early enough that the motorbike would move into the right so I had to lift off mid-corner which initiated oversteer. If you watch again you will see I had to reduce the speed quite a lot not to crash into him. Also this corner is a little tricky due to high speed and negative camber which doesn’t help.

      @@autoholic_tm Ah ok I see, yeah I’ve done that too in my Z4M Coupe (see recent clip on my channel..) On R-tires!! Its like pulling the handbrake sometimes, with these cars. Must be that M-diff.
      On the Ring I’ve been scared of this corner so I always brake too much I think.

      @@pereldh5741 I just saw your video, but did not see where you did that on your clip. To be honest since that incident has happened I lost a lot of confidence in that corner and all laps after I have been taking it wrong and not keeping the foot down (even on my best BTG lap time video you can see I am not committed in the corner and there is a little traction break). I am hoping next season with better suspension and tyres I will gain confidence again.

      @@autoholic_tm yeah thats typical. I’m trying a rear spoiler+diffusor to get some anti-lift.
      The ”Spin” clip wasnt on Nurburgring but Kinnekulle in September

      @@pereldh5741 Ah cool, I am also thinking of a splitter and a wing, but I need to figure out which models I can get approved for the road. Which diffusor will you go for?
