Thank you for spreading the word! Really more people need to know about this masterpiece. I have some friends who are interested in xenobiology, Avatar movies and stuff but they were completely unaware this show even existed until I recommended it to them.
When I saw Levi's offspring walk from behind the equipment towards the cultists, I immediately thought of my 1 yr old son. It was so human-like. Just like him. 😊
At first I found the scene with the first fight between Azi and Hollow a bit odd too, but this changed when I saw the second fight, at the end of the show, because I think there is a hint of explanation for the behavior of the creature. When Azi sees the shuttle take off she looses control of her emotions, she looses hope, and then, only then, the Hollow tries to enslave her: when it sees that she is truly and sufficiently broken. At that moment I thought "so it has interest in her!". This made me reinterpret their first encounter: she knows how to fight, she is strong, and she appears to have some exploitable emotional material going on - especially after the death of Levi! - so the creature saw in her a possible new competent thrall - or even a substitute to kamen.
Yes, the hollow is constantly being "infected" by Kamen's humanity. The hollow doesn't even kill for food until after it links with Kamen. Kamen's greed and weakness cause the creature to grow and destroy symbiotically until it outgrows kamen and wants to consume a stronger, more resourceful human.
oh hey i know im a dickhead but you guys drive me nuts with this one- *losing, not *loosing, *loses, not *looses.. My belt is loose. I hope she doesnt lose. I'm losing it! What a loser! Playin really fast and loose, with those spellings, eh? Cool? :)
26:26 You were wondering why Azie confronted Chris when they were crossing the river. One thing I noticed before they crossed the river was how Azie used the sticky sap… thing so they could all jump on the rocks without slipping. If you look closely when she applies the sap she puts significantly less of it on Chris’s shoes compared to her and Barrie’s. I think, had it not been for that rock Chris was able to latch onto Azie’s intent was to shove them off and let the river either kill her or separate them so Chris wouldn’t be able to get to the Demeter.
Azi's mistake on the river stepstones was counting on Barry to side with her, it wasn't bad writing - she should have saw it coming starting when barry smashed the audio recorder
Yea it’s easy to hate Kris, but in that moment, she hasn’t done anything evil yet. Azi was too aggressive with her approach and could have killed Kris when she attacked her first. What a dummie.
@jezebulls placing the threshold for doing something at "Chris finally d9es something evil" is incredibly foolish. It's also a weird line to draw because when she does the "evil" thing literally all she did was exactly what she had been talking about doing. All Azi did was trust this woman who said over and over again that her only priority is her own self interests.
From an audiemce standpoint, I definitely suspected that Barry would betray her when having to choose between one of the other. But it makes perfect sense fir Asi tocbeleive he wouldn't, after the humbling experience he's had leading up to that point and hiw Asi was thebonly prrson supporting him. It made sense tocme that Asi would have an "He'll side with me becauae I'm actually here for him" mentality, when he's actually just afraid of everything and his impulse was to help the person he feared.
He did not kill her because they show you small signs , he decided to make her his new puppet. He noticed that she is much stronger, has weapon control...and a better asset than Kamen. That's why. And THIS SHOW IS INSANELY GOOOOOOOD !! let's you make your own connections without holding your hand. I would say Rick and Morty fades in comparison.
I don’t agree that it was her strength it wanted. It was her sadness and pain that changed its mind as it was about to kill her just as the ship left. The same as K with his anguish and sorrow. It uses that sadness to emotionally manipulate them but also to care for them in a way reflective of real life emotional abuse and domestic violence
Big thinking hurts: Is it possible that the hollow wasn’t negative , but a mirror? The first thing we see is it being dominated. And then it encounters a broken human who’s trying to convince himself he’s not the cause of everything bad. Had the hollow ever felt emotions? Did it know their purpose or effect? And then, like so much of the mimetic life on vesta, maybe it became what it saw in Kamen, a monster. Before he arrived it was a neutral/symbiotic presence and then Kamen showed it murder, a tool to overcome its vulnerability and hunt more, and it used him symbiotically (specifically his shame and guilt at killing everyone) to hunt more. They used each other for power or oblivion, because they were literally feeding off each other and using the other for information/inspiration. The hollow’s actions could just be from its experience of Kamen, and his emotions. This could be how the planet Vesta saw him, seeing himself …maybe? Vesta adapting with Kamen. The planet seemed to meet everyone where they were in a scary way. I’m not sure the hollow had motivations beyond food, I kinda think it was all Kamen’s effect on vesta. Big thoughts done.
I thought something similar, Kamen corrupted the hollow, and I interpreted the telephatic comunicacion went both ways, with Kamen experiencing the evolution of the planet, and his own effect on it. Kamen in the end decided to extricate himself and his influence from the Hollow, leaving him in its initial stage
@@omaramat4813 cool, thank you. I’ve been wanting to hear some feedback on this theory for a while and I appreciate you! It was such an amazing series, I still can’t stop thinking about it. Thoughts like: is something evil if it’s not bound by human morality? Is it possible to categorize something as evil if it’s an alien survival strategy? Is this just semantics? Does nature have any use for/understanding of morality? Blah blah blah…. Endless! Have a great day out there, and thanks again💖
I thought this too. The telepathic link worked both ways. The Hollow was enacting the revenge and anger that Kamen felt. Hence the transition from being “controlled” by the Hollow to actually becoming “one” with the Hollow. The fetal position being extremely symbolic. Finally, there was a macro/micro approach to everything on this show, so I do think that the planet “reacted” to the intentions of the different survivors. Note that Levi, the most innocent and ultimately open minded survivor truly ascended and became almost a God like entity. Ursula also seemed to form a very symbiotic relationship with much of the fauna throughout the story. On the other hand, the last survivor was attacked by every creature he encounters because he projected terror from the moment he awakened. I wonder if the white/silver plant was the ultimate form of sentience on Vesta… Just my thoughts and observations. Best series/media I’ve seen in years!
I can easily see a second season going well for this show. Expand on the survivors living on the planet and how they can thrive. What the deal is with the death cult and how they’d handle Levi, maybe deify them? One more season and then I can let this series rest. Such a gem of animation.
Sam frustrated me so much that entire series, he seemed to constantly jeopardize Ursula’s safety but his ending was so heartbreaking and sad that it made so much sense that he would realize his own risk to her health
Regarding the critique about the hollow not killing Ozzie… I interpreted it as the hollow recognizing her being more useful as an “asset”, as Chris would have put it, which is why it was making an attempt to possess her instead. The survivor it killed earlier saw the hollow and ran, displaying weakness, as opposed to Ozzie rushing towards it to attack.
When hollow first met azi, I assumed that cayman was fighting or holding the hollow back from charging up his majic ability to kill azi and the hollow instead had to opt for a quick attack. Maybe cayman got a wake-up call after the hollow brutally killed the robot who hummed the tune of his love, and thats when he started fighting back, but he couldnt fully take control and thats why the hollow broke the rope after a few seconds. Whatever the reason, it seem the hollow never wanted to kill Azi and even in the last episode, he tried to feed her instead of killing her.
Honestly that makes the most sense to me. But aside from a robot before he was absorbed he did watch the hollow kill that survivor of the Demeter by snapping his neck lol so I’m definitely hoping to get a bit more clarification on exactly what was happening when he got absorbed, but that definitely sounds like the most logical answer to me!
The best new piece of science fiction I’ve encountered on streaming in years. Pros Story, world building, plot, pacing, dialog (minimalistic), characters, motivations Cons The only 2 cons were, in one or two later episodes, some of the characters catch a case of the Prometheus’s… meaning they act uncharacteristically stupid. Fortunately it doesn’t last and is only jarring because, up until this point, the characters had acted as intelligently as one would expect spacefarers to act. Also, it does kind of make sense within the scope of the story, but it’s a little plot convenient. The 2nd (kind of) con is the art style. It is *not* bad, but definitely isn’t a strong point. But the innovative creature designs and animation go a LONG way to covering the is up. Overall… this series is tv gold! Simply amazing! Also… Sam = Moses… he sees the promised land (Demeter), helped to usher Ursula there and finally passed.
The white flower and the yellow mold is not explained yet it’s the most important essential element of the planet , Gaia of the planet that controls everything and starts the mutation , everything else serves its purpose
This series is an absolute gem. I found it by chance. The storytelling by "show not tell" is about as good as it ever gets in this show. Honestly though, the dialogue was relatable and felt so real. Amazing writing, amazing voice acting, amazing music, amazing artwork/animation, amazing story.... just awesome. I REALLY hope they make more than one season. EDIT: I must add that I truly loved how some of the relationships between the characters were written. The best one in my opinion was the relationship between Ursula and Sam. Really great. I usually don't like watching romance/drama, but their relationship I could connect to. I also just loved how the characters were written in general.
Couldn’t agree more this show was absolutely fantastic!! I can almost guarantee they’ll keep going it was pretty well received, but with that level of animation it’s going to be a while until it’s ready I imagine. I’d highly recommend the show Pantheon if you enjoyed this as well!!
24:07 yeah how did the husband get the parasite? That thing just suddenly appeared and we don't know how he got it and that concerns me. It makes me think that this is like its a human born virus somehow
i cannot believe i just watched this entire thing start to finish and i’ve never even seen this show. Not sure how i got here. Your detailing skills are impressive
Wow this comment just made my day! Thank you so much for that really! these story breakdowns take a ton of time to put together I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!!
You go hard bro. That was absolutely awesome. You hooked me in from the start and i literally have no idea how i got here. Bless you my friend. Subscribed and liked.
@@thegeekweek Moebius is the pseudonim for the french comic artist Jean Giraud. His colour palette and many of the worlds he has drawn feel quite similar to the world of Scavengers Reign.
Wellll...maybe not a 'masterclass', but pretty decent and fairly original. Still, there seemed to be a lot of holes and peculiar situations, but I do understand that money and time constraints are a big issue in producing a feature such as this. Waiting to see if we sharpen things up in further seasons.
The only real plot contrivance that got my attention was the healing water... not that it was a thing at all... but that when the moss rash started to really take it toll on Azi, she just happened to stop at the exact place that had the cure... Despite the fact that they had been riding for miles at that point... but whatever it was literally my ONLY nit pick in an other wise brilliant story.
I guess I looked over that, I definitely see your point! Personally I was under the impression it was just regular water so she could’ve ran into a pond at anytime there were quite a few bodies of water throughout
@@thegeekweekunless those fish only exist in those huge tree ponds. It was the cleaner fish, not the water. Pretty cool cuz you see little fish cleaning sharks and what not in our world. The creators are definitely nature lovers.
So I binged a lot of stuf over Xmas... Scavengers Reign and Pantheon blew my mind! Such a pleasure to see not 1 but 2 AMAZING scifi animations that made me think and feel more than I have done in a LONG time about the story being and the characters being portrayed. Could they possibly reboot a new age of serious, cerebral science fiction??? I hope so.
@@Nemoticon I was recommended a show called “my daemon” on Netflix I’m not sure if it’s a sci-fi show with anime elements or the other way around, but I’m certainly looking forward to checking that out. If it’s half as good as Pantheon or Scavengers Reign we’ll be in good shape!
This show entranced me at first episode. A combination of the movie Ahnilation and youtubes melodysheeps life beyond series. The sheer imagination of what is possible for life to be on other planets was simply mesmerizing. Great review. I hope to see MANY more seasons of this show and what other life form they think up of. The hollow was such a cool concept of a lifeform.
I think the reason the hollow didn’t kill azia is bcs it wanted to take over her too PLUS I think the writers wanted us to feel the fear of how big and fast and sturdy the hollow was. Showing the comparison of how large it was compared to one of the humans scared me enough, I was scared watching the rope scene like I was watching Jurassic park or something but worse.
Oh I’m sure it will be! I’ve still yet to watch the original short film, but it came out back in 2016 so this is clearly a project the writers care deeply about, im sure they won’t disappoint!
I didn't know what to expect watching this show, but i have to say this is one of the best sci-fi shows i've ever seen animation or not, I hope they make another season
I agree with your critique of the Hollow and would like to expand on it. It generally doesn't make sense why they'd need thrall in the first place, when they have such powerful telekinesis. That specific hollow used so much energy just to free and control Kamen. It ripped the escape pot open! It could have easily picked fruit for itself and it would have cost a lot less energy. Another thing, which I had already observed in the original short, is the unlikeliness of Sam and Ursula figuring out these complex processes in just a month or so. For example cutting open a creature, crawling inside and pulling on specific organs to produce a desired effect... how would they learn that? Or the creatures they use as breathing masks. What gave them the idea to put those into their faces and got their nostrils invaded?
Thank you for watching 🙏 Yes that is a great point, I’ve still yet to watch the original short and it’s still very unclear how long it took for Sam and Ursula to learn all of that, unless they or someone else from the “company” had been there before. I can’t wait for the next season so we can start getting more backstory!!
Sure, you wouldn't be able to. But think for a moment about the number of years of training and experience the higher ups aboard the Demeter 227 had to undergo to hold the positions they have. They've obviously been trained extensively in both adaptability and sustainability. The physiology of Vesta and its creatures are much more mechanical feeling than the flora and fauna of earth. I'm sure that from visual observation alone they were able to learn many of their survival techniques. It's silly to act like a month (but it's actually been at least 2 months according to Kamen's record keeping) wouldn't be long enough to understand the immediate world around them as well as the creatures that are necessary for survival.
@@michaelisokay390 very true, also It’s very possible they aren’t the first from the company to arrive there. The lady and her husband that were controlled by the parasite were from an entire crew and we don’t know how they ended up there. So much to explore in the second season I can’t wait!!
@@danielciocilteu3545 Regarding Weapons, the ship was supposed to head to an established colony. I imagine their society likes to minimize weapon access for civilians. (Remember they live in a corporate hellscape that doesn't care for human lives.) What Azi used in the early episodes was flares (though it does seem strange that nobody else had any). The hollow went to the ship to be with Fiona('s corpse) because it was psychically linked with Kamen. Destroying Kris' ship is what seems stranger to me. The moon where we first see Kris and her crew on is not where their colony is, they were mining there in search of something useful for their colony, which they said is in a different system (if not even a different sector, I don't recall exactly)
Incredible show! Reminds me so much of the french comic book series "The World of Aldebaran" from Leo. Very similar drawing and creatures. We need more sci-fi like this! Hoping for season 2 !
dude, watch Lastman TV Series 2016, the season 2 is already out Lastman Heroes... its by Jérémie Périn, the guy that made the short animated video DyE: Fantasy, he also made a Sci FI animated movie Mars Express 2023, im giving you gold here, lots of content, lots of things you should and will love to watch, good sci fi, with good animation that kepts its quality all the way through... and its needed for everyone to watch like mr inbetween
No problem at all and hey if it’s up my alley I may even write up a review so I’ll definitely reach out if I end up doing that! Always appreciate good recommendations!!
I was so happy Mars Express finally came to theaters in the US last month. It was hard to find a theater that was showing it but was worth the longer drive to see it!
Phenomenal once in a lifetime television season. I don't see how they could possibly replicate the same success in future seasons but I hope I'm wrong. The only thing that I didn't really understand fully and though could have been displayed clearer was the relationship between Kamen and the Psycic creature. I think the creature's main goal was simply to become the 'biggest' or 'strongest' and was intelligent to know that it could acheieve this using other lifeforms.. But what the hell was the absorption of Kamen all about? How was that benefitial for the creature? Why did the attempt at controlling Levi reduce it back to its weaker form?
Hey I’m right there with you, I mean the time and money it takes to have that level of hand drawn animation is ridiculous and that’s not even touching the incredible writing throughout the show! From what I’ve gathered this is more or less a passion project for the 2 creators, their original animated short for this series came out way back in 2016 so I’m fairly confident if we do get a season 2 the quality will be top notch! As for Kamen and the Hollow I wish I had the answers there but sadly I’m not positive on the exact nature of the relationship, while I do think the mystery adds to the elements in sci-fi storytelling I’m hoping we learn a bit more down the line!
One of the few head scratchers i had was when the crew member who escapes the ship just somehow makes it days and days away from the ship and runs into the hollow and kaiman. That was the one spot i was like ummm.... Overall i liked it but didn't love the show but i would give a season 2 a chance.
To be fair they were in a life support tank when they marooned on the planet the crew member only ventured off when an alien cracked his open and later found Kamen but I’m pretty sure that was all in the course of one day
Great vid, amazing to watch such a thorough breakdown. I disagree about Chris being usually right. She's wrong most of the time and I think they would all be better off without her. She's just good at manipulating people into thinking that they need her, gaslighting basically.
I can totally get on board with that I think the only part that had me confused was when azi stabbed the hollow, that would be enough for it to use the telekinesis I’d think but who knows 🤷♂️
this illustrates the problem, this show does something a bit different and it gets cancelled . i must confess i switched it of after about five minutes , i did this due to it invoking memory's yellow submarine when i was child and how that creeped me out ' but something about that 5 minutes made me return and im so happy i did , superb . i likee all of it but levi and his link to the eco system was was the most intriguing.
27:10 i know this is infinitely more active than any parasite we've dealt with, but if he continiously for a long period kept slowly pulling on it do you think the parasite in an early stage could be "uprooted"? or in a hypothetical, azi gets the heart parasite, levi uses a controlled shock to stun and remove the parasite (potentially using the shock to restart her heart in the case its stopped) i know id get absolutely erased but id 100% be elated to wander around this world
First let me just say I don’t have the answers of course haha , but it is a wonderful question! Part of me wants to say if it were/is possible we are going to definitely learn more down the line. Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner don’t strike me like the type to overlook details or aspects of the environment on vesta. I mean the level of detail throughout season one was mind blowing and like you said I too would absolutely love to just wander around the planet the world building is top tier! As long as we don’t see any Hollows we’re good haha
Please review the series "Pantheon"! It's a 2-season series done by the same studio that did Scavenger's Reign! Pantheon is my top #1 TV series of all time!!
It was good until the last episode for me. 1. Why did that psychic creature the dude was inside shrink when he was outside of it at the end. We saw how big it got when he was feeding it so why did it shrink. 2. How did levis offspring get on the ship the lady stole.
I assume when it tried taking over Levi it backfired and Levi took control and used it’s psychic powers to restore the creature. Don’t forget we also seen it float and turn into a jelly letting ginger guy in, it could be part of the jelly.
@@thegeekweekwait no that's not it, I mean the fungus that incorporated Ursula, you didn't talk about it, I just rewatched. I thought that was very significant.
@@birdinmotion1525 oh yep you’re talking about from episode 1 right? (The pic of Ursula in the thumbnail) You’re so right I have a good feeling that moment will play a big part in seasons to come!! if and when we learn some more I’ll definitely have to get a video out explaining that bit!
I really thought Ursula would become some spore spewing mole sent to infect the rest of humanity. Which was why she was so intent on getting to the ship, so she could explode like a puff cloud mushroom. Otherwise, it was a pretty crazy visual to put into the series for no reason other than psychedelia.
The one thing that confused me is about the silent woman, She got there younger and got old in the planet showing the prolonged passed of time, or was she another explorer from a different ship that got stranded in Vesa as well. Perhaps the parasyte, if someone knows let me know.
@@ObiWanShinobi67 I watched it for the first time because it is now on Netflix. I'll give it another watch, i was looking for info and reviews because I read somewhere that the show was canceled, and if there is enough viewership Netflix may pick it up.
36:48 i know its a bug, but i will always refer to that as the Puff Adder- its just too accurate minus the biologically dangerous puff balls (and being a bug but w/e)
We really enjoyed it. Beautiful and well-thought out story and landscapes. The typical woke agenda crap does make it's way into the show, like every show in our modern culture war, but it's not egregious. It's more akin to classic liberal ideals the genre is known for.
So I’ve heard this a few times and I understand why some people may say that, but I couldn’t disagree more. As someone who comments and makes videos frequently on the state of things like the MCU for example, they differ greatly. The issue Disney has had with IP’s like Marvel and Star Wars isnt because the characters are female it’s because they aren’t actually characters beyond that fact. Simply just females with no character writing or development… Scavengers Reign on the other hand is the epitome of good character writing and good characters that just happen to be female.
Yea, I noticed that too. I definitely noticed that the female characters seemed stronger and more level headed, while the males were either weak or stubborn and unreasonable. It bothered me a little but it was interesting enough that I still able to enjoy it. And atleast the female characters had some depth and personalities.
@geekweekpodcast I almost gave up on Scavenger's Reign when they had the white Captain and the his female companion arguing about who needed who and who didn't. Then, he immediately needed rescuing by her for the 2nd or 3rd time in the series at that point. All the usual agenda boxes were already checked up to that point, and I accepted that, but when all shows/movies can do with straight-white-male characters these days is to trash them, make them look weak, or all villains, I start to get too distracted by the realworld culture war to care about the fictional story anymore. And it upsets me that in a genre that I love for being progressive, too often goes too far now, only to crap on a primary demographic who loves these kinds of shows: straight-white-males. The bigotry hypocrisy is getting out of hand. To me, social justice is not about social revenge. So, let's keep the straight-white-male characters diverse, too, please! I'm fine with them being villains, as long as it's not every show/movie now. I'm ok with them being weak, but not every one of them within the same story. For example, I love The Boys series and graphic novel series. I was even fine how the series leaned more into inclusion than the books did. Didn't hurt the story at all. And straight-white-male characters were represented along all spectrums of personality. Great! BUT...then, they make a spin-off called Gen V. And I can't get thru the season. Every straight-white-male characters is a POS, and the color and shape of his penis seems to be why. The only relatable straight-white-male needs rescued and is mentally damaged. I can't do it! Thankfully, Scavengers Reign was written well enough and gave their straight-white-male characters enough redeeming value as not to make it too distracting to enjoy. Really is a damn good series, and looks beautiful!
@janjan9087 Yeah, the anti-straight-white-male trope is getting really heavy-handed in storytelling these days. Thankfully, this show didn't get TOO crazy with it, but it was still present.
@@travislawrencemusic I found Kamens character to be much more complex than just a weak person, but if you’re referring to sam I think it makes sense I mean he’s old bro, dudes rockin all greys lol Ursula is probably way more athletic than him at this point in his life. Look, like I said I’m not blind is this show dominated by women? Of course it is you’d be crazy to think otherwise, but it is clearly written with the purpose of telling a great story. Furthermore the genders in the show are quite literally interchangeable the fact that they are females doesn’t affect the show at all because of the great writing! Like I said if we were talking about something else like a lot of Disney’s recent projects I may be more inclined to agree with you as they sacrifice character writing and development and merely cast towards target audiences. This show does nothing of the sort

I wonder if the white/silver plant was the ultimate form of sentience on Vesta…
Just my thoughts and observations. Best series/media I’ve seen in years!
@@Alpha23TV that was way better said than what I tried to explain, thank you. Yes, this. Very much this.
I can easily see a second season going well for this show. Expand on the survivors living on the planet and how they can thrive. What the deal is with the death cult and how they’d handle Levi, maybe deify them?
One more season and then I can let this series rest. Such a gem of animation.
Couldn’t agree more so good! But yeah that actually is a really good idea I could definitely see them turning Levi into a deity
Someone else had made that point and I definitely think you're both right! that makes a lot more sense!!
I really hope it gets another season, or we get more shows like it.
Yesssss!!! I couldn’t agree more absolutely amazing show!!
Netflix are great at finding good new shows but they are terrible at continuing them
@@anthonygibbs9245this is HBO
I feel like this flew under the radar and it’s a shame cos it’s it’s brilliant
Tell me about it!! It’s everything you could possibly want in a sci-fi show! I’m pretty sure season 2 was confirmed though so that’s good!
Ursula is wearing Sam's clothing in her final scene as well, probably signifying that she has taken his authoritative position among the survivors.
That’s a great catch! I glossed right over that detail thank you!! 🙏
Thank you for the review! Hope for season 2 🙏🏻
Thank you for watching! And fingers crossed i hope so! Let me know if there's any other shows or movies you'd like to see vids for!
The best new piece of science fiction I’ve encountered on streaming in years.
Pros
Story, world building, plot, pacing, dialog (minimalistic), characters, motivations
Cons
The only 2 cons were, in one or two later episodes, some of the characters catch a case of the Prometheus’s… meaning they act uncharacteristically stupid.
Hear hear ! Together with Blue Eye Samurai the best series I've seen in a LONG time. What a journey !
I almost did a review for blue eye samurai as well!! Absolutely wonderful year for great animated series!
@@thegeekweek Good point! I will have to check out Pantheon as well!

People might also want to take a look at a French animated film from the early 70s, "Fantastic Planet", for further comparison fodder.
I love this series! It's has Moebius written all over it! So organic.
Not familiar with moebius, is it a show?
@@thegeekweek It's the famous ilustrator Jean Giraud aka Gir and Moebius.Look it up!
Yes! Said the same to a friend of mine after watching it. The drawingstyle and themes feel so similar!
@@thegeekweek Moebius is the pseudonim for the french comic artist Jean Giraud. His colour palette and many of the worlds he has drawn feel quite similar to the world of Scavengers Reign.
@@snevkreb14 oh dopee! I’ll definitely check out some of his stuff that sounds great! 👍
Wellll...maybe not a 'masterclass', but pretty decent and fairly original. Still, there seemed to be a lot of holes and peculiar situations, but I do understand that money and time constraints are a big issue in producing a feature such as this. Waiting to see if we sharpen things up in further seasons.
10/10 show for everyone, the message is about balance and so is it’s message.
Agreed 👍
Awesome bio-science fantasy series 🧬

Greatest scifi show of all time to me
So I binged a lot of stuf over Xmas... I hope so.
Amen to this!!! Bring Back GOOD SCI-FI!! I agree 100 %
@@thegeekweek I feel like I've been walking through an endless sandy desert and only good scifi wll quench my thirst, lol
Thank you so much and I cannot wait myself!! I’ll have to check those shows out as well they sound good!!
Just finished it, absolutely loved it.. the kind of story I’ve been craving..
So glad to hear that and I couldn't agree more! Fingers crossed it picks up enough of a following on Netflix so we can get a season 2!!
I’m definitely with you on that! haha big body hollow definitely had me shook 😂
I really hope that scavengers reign two is as good as season, one. And I have heard that season two is set to air in August 2024
I couldn't agree more!! I'm sure they will
I need a Hollow Plushie now
You and me both!!!!
@@thegeekweek I just saw that Etsy has plastic figurines, Keychain sized Hollows. But no plushie yet haha
Hollows are kinda scary though
The moon where we first see Kris and her crew on is not where their colony is, they were mining there in search of something useful for their colony, which they said is in a different system (if not even a different sector, I don't recall exactly)
they were there for a couple of months, as stated by Sam.
Incredible show!
Reminds me so much of the french comic book series "The World of Aldebaran" from Leo. Very similar drawing and creatures. We need more sci-fi like this!
Hoping for season 2 !
I couldn’t agree more very refreshing for the genre! Someone else mentioned that comic book series as well I’ll have to check it out!

I was so happy Mars Express finally came to theaters in the US last month. It was hard to find a theater that was showing it but was worth the longer drive to see it!
Just finished this and watched the short film. Definitely need a second season.
Tell me about it!!!
Excellent review!
BTW, Lost in Space (the original) and Star Trek sugar coated space exploration, and this may happen to us once we get out there!
Thank you so much 🙏🙏 And yes I couldn’t agree more!!
Thank you for watching and yeah you're probably right, we'll learn more about kris in season 2
I'm sure.
So awesome! I’m glad I stumbled upon it
Such a wonderful show!
Pretty sure the hollow only uses its telekinesis to kill things when its pissed off at those things or views them as objects
I can totally get on board with that I think the only part that had me confused was when azi stabbed the hollow, that would be enough for it to use the telekinesis I’d think but who knows 🤷♂️
I think the rope just snapped
That seems more likely haha definitely funnier if the hollow grabbed it manually 💀😂
this illustrates the problem, this show does something a bit different and it gets cancelled .
i must confess i switched it of after about five minutes , i did this due to it invoking memory's yellow submarine when i was child and how that creeped me out '
but something about that 5 minutes made me return and im so happy i did , superb .
i likee all of it but levi and his link to the eco system was was the most intriguing.
Couldn’t agree more!! Hopefully it gets enough attention now that it’s on Netflix and hopefully we get a second season!
There are really great ideas in this show. ❤
Totally! such a brilliant original show!!
27:10 i know this is infinitely more active than any parasite we've dealt with, but if he continiously for a long period kept slowly pulling on it do you think the parasite in an early stage could be "uprooted"?
or in a hypothetical, azi gets the heart parasite, levi uses a controlled shock to stun and remove the parasite (potentially using the shock to restart her heart in the case its stopped)
i know id get absolutely erased but id 100% be elated to wander around this world
First let me just say I don’t have the answers of course haha , but it is a wonderful question!

2. How did levis offspring get on the ship the lady stole.

I really thought Ursula would become some spore spewing mole sent to infect the rest of humanity. Otherwise, it was a pretty crazy visual to put into the series for no reason other than psychedelia.

Can we get more information about the short film from 2016?
I don't mind covering it if you peeps would like to see it! I've still yet to check that out myself so I'm totally game!
This was a fantastic show but my only criticisms is why does it have to be woke?
All the best animators are those types, people on the spectrum are really good at non social story telling and art but obviously lack anything social
This show does nothing of the sort
the greatest animated series ive ever seen in my 50 years
