- *OPEN ME FOR PLUS SIZE VINTAGE!*
Hello loves! Today I wanted to share some vintage outfit recreations on a curvier body! It seems that the norm is to see more slender bodies in vintage, and I have seen lots of beautiful plus size gals bemoan that they don't feel they can rock retro styles in their curvier bodies, so I hope this is an encouragement to go try anyway. The more I search, the more I find-- both in seeing curvier bodies wearing vintage AND in finding true vintage garments! As a vintage seller, I've found items up to a 44" waist, and I follow lots of vintage and retro gals who are all sizes so please check out the accounts linked below!
And, just for fun, I've scoured Etsy for some Volup finds that are all under $60, so be sure to peek at those, too!

Music from epidemic sound.
Sure they can, I’m 70 lived in the 50 60 era, we had people of all sizes back then. Love your videos ❤️
So true! Thank you!
Likewise Linnie. 🤩
I’m 60 and plus sized and I adore wearing vintage inspired outfits! Sometimes though I think people judge not only because of size but because of age. I say, wear what you love!!! Thanks for the video!
I was feeling really down because I adore vintage fashion but I wasn't seeing many styles on cuvier bodies. This video is exactly what I needed, thank you so much
I am so glad it helped!
Be sure to check the description, I linked lots of vintage gals to follow, and some plus size vintage dresses I found that are $64 and under! Do you follow vintage plus size accounts you love? Drop 'em here! I'm updating the list as I find more!
Alternative title: You Can Wear and Style Vintage While Being a Busy Mom! That was my personal takeaway from this video and I needed the encouragement, thank you! While I'm not plus size I have had a dynamic of seeing many ladies in the vintage community who don't have kids and wondering whether it was realistic to wear vintage in my mom life. (Takes too much time, can't get messy enough, isn't "functional"... I'm sure you've encountered all this before.) When I found you I clicked "Subscribe" so fast because "This lovely lady has tips for MY experience of vintage!" It's clear from the comments on your videos that you encourage many people by being yourself and letting your light shine. Sincerely thank you for making the effort to do that in the midst of the wonderful chaos you live with! ❤️
Love this. I have a similar body type as you, and this made me realize, just how amazingly flattering high waist skirts looks. I really need to get some
They really are! That's pretty much all I wear now, haha!
Stine I don’t know if you sew but circle skirts are so easy to make ❤️
I think your “fail” outfit was really cute even with the proportions not being exactly what you wanted. Also liked the cute baby surprise appearance lol. All of these looked great and inspired me to get creative with my closet! 😝
Oh thank you!
I think the jacket & the dress looked wonderful!
4 kids and you made this awesome video? Wow! I loved every look. Especially the black and white dress.
Love it lady!! I also love that you were honest about which ones you liked and didn’t. However I love them all. 😍
Honestly I think I would like the Audrey one better if I had dark hair. The one color I can’t wear with pastel hair is black.
Love all of these outfits! The last one is my fave💚💛
I think the misconception about vintage fashion fitting only slender bodies come from the fact that we base it on magazine photos featuring models, so women slimmer than an average lady in the given time frame. Love the outfits! Re: the pink felt skirt - I wholeheartedly recommend rocking vibrant colours in winter! Not sure where you live, but in most of Northern Hemisphere winters are grim and dark, so a pop of colour can be a really good mood lifter. I wish fashion retailers understood that and offered winter coats in colours other than gray, black and navy. (Marks&Spencer had a 60s Italy inspired winter coats collection couple of years back and those were practically neon, but that was once-off occurrence) All the best!
Thank you Kristina for showing us we can be inspired by old photos to create our versions of outfits! I think it's more helpful for me that your versions aren't exact copies - we all have different clothes available to us, and it's about capturing the idea, not being a replica 😊.
I think we are the exact same size and this video has made be feel so much more confident! You looked so gorgeous and glamorous in every look, and I feel so ready to go and play with my own vintage style. Thank you
Oh, this makes me so so happy to hear! Have so much fun with your style!
Thank you for sharing! Love all the looks, Your Beautiful and the baby babble was adorable
Thank you! Haha, she wanted to have her say in the video!
I’m a plus size and love the vintage style , I’ve only got one vintage try on at the mo but I do lots of makeup and sewing video’s, I really enjoyed you recreating the looks , four kids you do have your hands full I love the top or dress that you was wearing couldn’t fully see if it is a dress or top but looks true vintage , I do think the old vintage styles was so glamorous ❤️
Loved this! This is a great idea. I think the first outfit might be my favorite. They were all pretty though!
That first outfit just speaks to our general obsession with fall plaids haha!
I really want to learn how to scale up smaller patterns. I am 45"-35"-42, and 52. It's silly anyone would think vintage styles are not for more curvy women. The older styles accentuate everything feminine, but as in all things "fashion" related, one should find styles from an era of interest that suit their shape best, and not presume everything will look amazing. Incidentally, all sized women should do this, even the skinny minnies. For example, I loved your outfit with the white pussybow blouse, but for a large chest (38DD here..WHOOO HOO!) woman, it will make your chest look even larger. A tie that uses a thinner material and size would feminize a large chest and not add to the bulk. Easy enough to cut the ties where it meets the neckline, and sew on a new configuration of material to use for tying. Dear, your Audrey Hepburn dress IS beautiful. You rock!! Also, if you are a broad shouldered woman or if you have a large full bust adjustment (I am 6" holy cow!!), but do not have broad shoulders, raglan and dolman sleeved sweaters and shirts are your friend. If you get them in a smaller size, not only will it play into a vintage "sweater girl" look (tight around the bust), but it should fit your shoulders and upper chest well too. Good luck ladies!!!
I am literally a 42 I. With a 32" waist and 38 hips..at least your hips make more sense.
So excited to find your channel I am an older lady and curvy. But love vintage vibe.💚☘💚
I have been wearing plus size vintage since the 90s! You are awesome; thanks for speaking up.
Love the shoes with the first outfit!
Love these, I’m a similar size to you so it’s really helpful
Yay I'm so glad!
i love that you are styling while your kids are all around. Power to the mom!!! This inspired me and you inspired me
I'm so glad!
You're a gorgeous soul !!
Don't apologize for not ironing your shirt my friend, we understand (and for those that don't,they need to learn empathy and compassion for all you are currently doing in your life!🤗) Just do you baby! x
Ps loving the pink hair!!! gorgeous!😁
Yes queen not everyone was skinny I’m tired of going vintage shopping and being told I’m too fat to wear true vintage! You look stunning in everything and so nice to see how your home has come together xx
Haha all those people saying only thin women existed back then must never watch old movies or see old photos.
@@WithLoveKristina right? Like everyone was thin and healthy back then and now we are all fat and unhealthy it’s never that black and white xx
I love all your outfits, in fact the 2nd one ( your least favorite) was my favorite one! Don’t feel bad about your busy life, some of us wish we had the blessing of kids, enjoy the chaos! ❤️
I'm definitely going to revisit that jacket and see how I can style it in ways that are more "me"! I'm enjoying the chaos ;) Most of the time, ha!
These are great. Thanks for putting this together.
The hot pink skirt would be great with fawns and dark browns for the fall, or even navy blue. Love your style and positivity.
Your baby is an absolute living doll! 🥰 What a gorgeous baby-girl (I assume). She is ADORABLE to the max. Swoon!🌹
Gorgeous first outfit!
I think you have done fantastic in all your efforts No failure in my mind You look great in all your clothes👏👏👏👏👏
Hi Baby! I love all the looks! Super cute.
Just finding your channel. This is sooooo helpful! Like I was divinely sent... Thank you! I'm enjoying your content❤
Oh I'm so so glad!
You’re amazing!! I used to be so conscious about my body size AND because I love the vintage styles so much!! Thank you for this video 💜🥺
I'm so glad!
I've always admired the same outfits and it was so amazing to see how you put these together! P.S. Love your bookcase filming area!
Thank you Lindsey! The bookcase filming area is sooo nice when the baby is napping. I really like it too!
Loved this video! You looked great in all the outfits!
Thank you so much!!
Wow, just discovered your channel and now I’m hooked. You’ve given me some great inspiration for what I already have in my closet. More videos like this, please! 💐💐💐🌺🌺🌺🌸🌸🌸🌹🌹🌹
I'll be trying to do more! I am collecting up some vintage photos I think I can recreate, it should be fun!
I do have to admit it is definitely harder to find true vintage pieces in my size. I'm large busted, wide set hips with a large waist (and also a hourglass figure). It's not easy, but I've gotten lucky on occasion.
I feel this so hard. I have gotten lucky too, but it's definitely a struggle!
Same! I've been looking up more outfits for chubby hourglass shapes and its kind of cool how much I've found on youtube from certain keywords. Now all I need is the money to actually go buy them lol
Hi beautiful ladies---check out Evelyn Wood's RUclips page and/or here Vintage Sewing School. She does some amazing transformations, that would open the door for you to find sizes that you could make work (lots of men's stuff too that can be feminine). For example: she took a pair of men's work coveralls that were probably 5 sizes too large for her that she found at a thrift store and made them into a very cute overall/romper kind of thing.
Great video and such an important topic! At my current size, I'm at the top range of what can easily be found in 50s-60s vintage. Looking at other women in my family, I know I'm likely to get bigger as I get older! It's good to see that this doesn't mean I'll have to give up vintage fashion- I'll just have to get creative. All of these looks are so good! And I loved the baby babbling!
I have been determined at every size to always try to find vintage in my size and style - and so far have been lucky to be able to! I don't expect my waist to get any smaller anytime soon, especially if I have more kids, so I'm with you. Creativity it is!
I love your hair! 🥰🌹
Another gorgeous video - I am a fan gal!! Love this xx
Thank you!
I really do like your very healthy approach to life, lifestyle and body shapes. I couldn't agree more. I have found that, when buying genuine vintage dresses (from 1940's) a today's size 10 seems at least one or two sizes down.
Thank you Ann! And yes, it's very true.
Yellow skirt with cool sunglasses was my favorite ❤❤
YES girl! You are an in-👏-spi-👏-rat-👏-ion👏!
I'm also a big girl into vintage fashion and once you decide to not give a f*** and just enjoy what you like its so liberaring! You look wonderful in all of these outfits, I loved it!
Fun outfits! Great video!
I love the pink hair so much!!
I loved it too, thank you!
My first time to you channel and all I could think is how adorable you are... love it!
Just found your channel. First I Love your hair. You truly look very pretty in the clothes you picked. I’ve been waiting to drop 3 dress sizes but, that’s not happening. When I watched your video it gave me hope to go out and fined some pretty clothes in my size. Thank you for sharing
Thank you! Definitely just wear what you love no matter your size; if I waited to drop dress sizes I'd still be wearing clothes I hated.
I'm with you - the first one is my favorite> I can't wait to see you style the pink kitty skirt in winter... I'm picturing the cutest snowy ground outfit.
You get me. PLAID. SWOON. I'm super excited to try to do the pink skirt in the snooow!
@@WithLoveKristina Yesssss. TBH your snowy photoshoots are like... usually my fave lol.
@@ShopFoxburrow There's something super magical about snow photoshoots. I have so many plans. IF it snows that is.
Beautiful looks✨
Thank you lovely!
Love the outfits sets. I really like the black outfit.
Thank you! I think the more I look at it the more I like the black outfit - once I have darker hair i'm going to revisit it because I think I'll like it better with dark hair!
I have been literally having this same problem. Where I am always worried how something will look on my curvy body!! Also I fully accept that I was stalking your bookshelf in the video to see what books you have. I love seeing what others read and I know we have similar taste. 😝oh also thanks for your video!
Ahahaha need me to send you a close up of all my books? Confession: a lot of them are antique books that I bought because they're pretty and I may never read them.
@@WithLoveKristina I have some of those. And always!
I love that you're doing this. Even with 4 kids! You're inspiring. Thank you! Do you wear your outfit out? When I do it people ask me if I'm going to a party or something.
oh yeah, I've been wearing vintage for about ten years; I feel more conspicuous if I'm NOT wearing vintage style than if I am!
Lol. I'm just not ok with leaving my house in what feels like pajamas. That's all.
thanks for making this video!! representation matters
I would love to see ways to wear a jacket for plus size! I have no waist, so tucking things in is scary to me, as are jackets and more layers.
Great job!
Thank you so much for this video. I'm little bit smaller than you but still not as skinny as we usually see on vintage photos. I love vintage style but never was courageous enough to wear it often. Moreover I'm so inconfident about my hips. I have nice waist but when I wear a skirt I think that my butt is soooo enormous so most of the time I end up with trousers and long, butt-covering blouse. Your video is very encouraging for me, thank you so much!
I am SO happy it is encouraging! I really want to make more vintage plus size fashion videos now, it was so fun to create this one and I've gotten a lot of positive responses from more curvy gals who are happy to see stuff like this! And I FEEL you on the butt - I have hips and a butt for suuure. I'm planning a video on disguising/flattering hips and a tummy because that's something I struggle with!
Great job...good on you!
I really like your outfits. I think you should not say so much negative comments because it distracted me from the beauty of you video and personality. Everything including you was really nice. Positive vibes ❤️
Haha I don't really remember what I said that was negative, but thanks!
Loved the yellow skirt!
Thank you Kathy!
I am size 4 US (size 8 UK) and I have to remake all my hems, sleeves as everything (except French clothing) from a charity shop is just too voluminous.
Love these
Thank you!
I can send everyone vintage clothing in larger sizes from England.
Beautiful
I…was waiting for this
Everything looks great on you
Thank you!
Love hearing the baby in the background! Nothing to apologise about 👶🧑🍼🍼
Great job! You are lovely. Please don't exhaust yourself with apologizing, I don't require perfection. Thank you for your videos.
She adorable, fit were awesome im just start to wear and learn and the 50s style, thank you im a plus size
Good luck!
YASSSSS, QUEEN.
I LOVE YOUUUU
I miss your pink hair! It’s so great
I miss it too! But also I want long hair. The struggle is ongoing 😂
@@WithLoveKristina oh the bleach affecting the growth? Saddest panda!
I love the navy and white dress. I think it would look more flattering with a navy chiffon pussy cat now blouse under the dress. The texture difference would be softer. I'm a qualified fashion designer from the uky.
love you, love your hair do u have a video on how u did it plz!
I do! If you scroll my channel there's a "setting hair with beer" video and that's what this is!
@@WithLoveKristina THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!!!
Awwww, you left me off that Instagram list😭 .....All I do is breathe, Make & Hunt down Plus Size Vintage Clothes.
Nooo! I’m updating as I remember people! I’m so terrible with instagram handles. Adding you ASAP love! I’m glad you commented. ❤️
💗💗💗💗
☺☺☺
There are many men who will think the length of the skirt/dress at 3:30 looks great on you. Stay below mid-thigh for a good rule of thumb. It’s tasteful.
Hi I,m a size 24 Australian and I car,t find any thing in my size. Thank you from Michelle in Australia.
Hmmm, it does take a lot of time and patience to find things that fit well; most of my closet has been acquired through years and years of curating and careful searching and thrifting. I'm not sure how it is in Australia but here in the US it definitely takes time and patience to thrift things!
My.problem is not my waist but my bust. It is disproportionately large. I am an apple shape... Like Jessica rabbit except I have an actual waist
As a bigger girl whom which has been wanting to learn to sew (pinafores and walking skirts) can’t find patterns for the life of her.
Vintage patterns ARE definitely hard to find for bigger sizes! But pinafores are relatively simple to make, maybe I'll try to do one with no pattern and see how it goes!
@@WithLoveKristina thank you for responding, I actually went to megannielsen.com and found some patterns that I could turn into a pinafore (I found a skirt and I’m planning to sew some fabric the the front of it to make it look like a pinafore 😅)
Where can I find those shades at 6:19?
Those are SUPER old (8 or so years) and they don't make them anymore but I thinkI linked some similar ones in the description!
Little girl was just making sure her momma knew she thought she looked super stylish!
Haha, or "hey mama I'm here, why aren't you feeding me constantly?" ;) lol!
You need a hat pin.
