Why is yesterday's music like this superlative, soaring piece by Ben E. King a million times better than today's cacophony of vulgarity? Answer: Because the culture of the early 1960s is/was a million times better than today's "culture." There is a reason for every season...and, clearly, we are now in the equivalent of cultural winter!
I was only 2 years old when this was recorded. As I began to know what music was I loved this song, my late parents used to play on their little record player. Im now 64 and still whistling this beautiful soulful tune - I dont think anything can equal it for its pure qualities. It reminds me so much of them and growing up in a happier world. Bless you Sir you brought much joy to our lives.
What's funny is that they assembled all these people - orchestra, choir - when it's all dubbed! That was the only flaw of those great years because the music and the people singing them were so lovable.
The sax player.....long gone bless him, no words to describe it ( him) just un assuming casual and sensational, blows my mind every time i watch it thank you
There’s no way this was filmed in 1961. More like 1981. Great song but the clarity of this video and Ben E Kings Hairstyle are much mor modern than 1961.
Ben E.King one of my favorite vocalist of all times.. grew up listening to Drifters and Magic Moment is my favorite song of all time.. Spanish Harlem is a masterpiece..

Oh to be born with a voice like some of these great singers.
One of the greatest singers of the 20th Century.
Love this great hit from the year I graduated high school.
I was seven years old when this song was released sixty years ago and it touched my little soul then like it touches my soul now.
WOW seeing Ben E.King sing this live!! Thanks so much
Ele cantava muito
This was filmed later than 1961. Very beautiful.
Right. I'm guessing around 1964-65
Rest In Peace Ben E. 🙏🏻
Miss music with full orchestras.
Oh wow , great song & memories !
One of the best modern songs of all time .
Magnificent song. One that Mozart or Beethoven would have been proud to have written.
Much of it was taken from Benjamin Britten's Cavalcade.
West side Story comes to Mind..Beautiful
What a great song, performed flawlessly by the great Ben E. King.
What's funny is that they assembled all these people - orchestra, choir - when it's all dubbed!

Beautiful voice and song love the music to it.
That Saxophonist is soooo familiar as is that matronly violinist. He might of played for Lawrence Welk or some other popular big band. Very talented!
The sax player.....long gone bless him, no words to describe it ( him) just un assuming casual and sensational, blows my mind every time i watch it thank you

Wonderful The song is lip-snc'd from the 1961 original, not sung during this performance (looks mid-70s).

It's very nice, but that video ain't from 1961, just look at the hairstyles, just look at the attires. 1971 would fit *. . .*
Dude, it's in color. They didn't do color in '61.
@@Kirke182_Yeah, another good point _*_. . ._*
