- For our second trip to Southern Ohio this year, we picked the Lake Vesuvius backpacking trail in Wayne National Forest. This is an 18 mile trail that navigates around Lake Vesuvius, but can be shortened to 16 miles if the Lakeshore Trail is used. We chose to complete the entire 18 mile section, hiking clockwise around Lake Vesuvius, over 3 days and 2 nights.

Those falls behind you at 22:00 minutes. I remember sliding down that hill in a down pour on my first ever Lake Vesuvius hike. I got muddy AF, but that water flow topped me off!! Great video!!

Why couldn’t you filter water there? Wondering because I plan on going this weekend
According to a few USDA articles I found, they mention that streams could be contaminated from mining operations in the past. The water looked fine to be honest, but it could contain heavy metals and we didnt want to risk it. Here is one of the articles:
