Building a house is not a nice shopping experience.

I think that many home owners go into the building process feeling entitled to a certain type of service and treatment. But unfortunately, building a house just isn’t akin to a nice luxury shopping experience. Spending $750k at the Rolls Royce dealer vs spending $750k with your local builder just isn’t going to be the same- both are a lot of money, but the customer experience could not be more different.
Instead I recommend home owners to see themselves as the CEO of their home building project and learn to work for their team. By managing your expectations and helping your team, you can actually expect more results in the areas that matter- as long as you are willing to give up the champagne and concierge service.
