I was there February 88 Festival de Viña del Mar , it was amazing , Tough times for my country living under a dictatorship , this group made us forget at least for a moment about our political reality , Christmas Day 88 I emigrate to USA , be here since then with my wife , kids and grand kids , Thank you Mr Mister for such a memories , long live the 80's
What a super voice Richard Page has - hardly any difference between live and studio versions, simply because he has a fantastic voice - no Autotune required! Mr Mister are a brilliant band, epitome of the 80's for me.
Richard is an AWESOME vocalist, writer, and musician, one of my favorites, but.... there are HUGE differences between this live performance and studio original.
This is one of the best live versions of this song I've heard, and that they performed it in Chile, definately a proud moment for me being a Chilean Australian.🙂
I saw this 10 years ago on RUclips here, and it now brings back memories of those times I had a decade ago...when the world still felt like a good place...everything is in chaos now..I've lost people I loved , I've grown older, and the 80 s just seems farther and farther away with every hour.
I was lucky enough to see them in 1986 on their summer tour in support of ‘Welcome To The Real World and in November of 1987 when they were opening for Heart while in support of ‘Go On.’ These guys were then and still are virtuoso musicians of the highest caliber. Richard Page without question is one of the greatest singers of all time. One thing that is not fully captured in the audio of most of their live footage videos is just how massive and thundering Pat Mastelotto’s drums are. His drums were HUGE live with his extensive and brilliant use of electronic drums, combined with his acoustic drums, cymbals and superb engineering. When you heard KYRIE live his drums faithfully replicated the sounds on the record particularly on the 87 tour when he was triggering actual digital samples of his drum sounds from the record.
I'm so envious. I had strong hopes of them reforming following PULL. Sadly, despite an offer to tour with Tears For Fears, nothing came of it (and let's face it that door`s closed for ever).
spinalcrackerbox I was right there with you sharing those hopes. There’s an interview with Pat Mastelotto from just before ‘Pull’ was released when he was on tour in Eastern Europe I believe with Stickmen and he was asked that very question. He basically said there are no promoters and no work. He mentioned the story of when they were dropped from the label after ‘Pull’ was rejected and BMG had taken over RCA. Richard had several solo deal offers (why wouldn’t he being one of the greatest singers of all time?) and he selflessly kept rejecting them insisting that the labels sign Mr. Mister instead. Pat and Slug finally encouraged him to go it alone in their own act of selflessness. So they tried, but the whole recording industry was changing and in the early stages of becoming the absolute shambles that it is today. What I’ve come to accept is that some of life’s greatest blessings are only meant to be for a short time. In the grand scheme of things each of us is only here for a fraction of a millisecond compared to eternity. For those guys to have made such an indelible impression in the lives of so many of us with their beautiful music during that small window is quite extraordinary. But, we have our memories and we’ll always have that incredible music.
@mrmisterfan1 Great interaction between band & audience at these shows and they played even better on the 2nd night. Regarding the award, I will change the title to reflect the presentation, thank you for reminding me.
Sadly, that possibility briefly appeared after the release of PULL, didn't get realized and IMHO will never present itself again. Pat told one of my friends in Chile that himself, as they are all busy with their own projects. Even if it did, Farris apparently wouldn't be part of it.
@@spinalcrackerbox Yes, I understand that in 2011 they were to tour with Tears for Fears and Richard got that offer to tour with Ringo Starr. i understand that the group has had many offers to perform over the years and that Richard has declined. Very sad. Still, miracle happen. Thanks for posting this.
Not sure how you can say it was 1986 when they are playing songs here from GO ON, which had not even been recorded yet in '86. Also, every other source says 1988.
@naturewoman28 Would have been even better if they could have filmed Richard from the right for the first two minutes but of course we take what we can get.
quinta vergara is such an awesome venue. i saw videos of faith no more playing there with the same award ceremony with that old dude and the girl lol and also TV coverage...what is this TV show? were all concerts from quinta vergara televised?
yeah, other famous bands have played there since the late seventies: The Police, REO speedwagon, Nazareth, Krokus, Europe, Cheap Trick, Huey Lewis and the news, Heart, Richard Marx, Bryan Adams, A-Ha, Simply Red, Toto, Journey, Kansas, Elton John. Check out their concerts on youtube.
Great music for cruising with in a classic car on a hot summers evening with the windows down. His guitar looks unusual to me. Does anyone have any information on what make and kind it is?
If you’re talking about Richard Page’s bass, it’s a Steinberger. Don’t know exactly what model, but I believe that it’s a Steinberger. They were famous for their headless basses.

Amazing Experience, dude , Cheers from Chile 🇨🇱😁

I'd love to like this endless times! Plus the beauty of Steve Farris at the end is just out of this world
Ludzie bez telefonów,to niesamowite!Przyszli żeby słuchać i bawić się!Mieli ze sobą zdrowe relacje!❤️
Tremendo tema, tremenda banda y tremendo recital. Dentro de mis top 3 de toda la historia del festival (junto con Europe y Faith no more).
I love this song. It still has so much power.

Richard Page was an amazing singer..and so sexy too. The complete package for a musician...
LOVE this song still. JUST AMAZING.
¡Que hermosa Nidia Caro!
Thank you for sharing, very moving.
Richard Page is among the greatest singers of all time.... good given talent that guy had, and still has :o
nice voice, good old song in 80's
GETS ME BUZZIN THE WAY THIS PHENOMENAL SONGS STARTS, PEACE
PEACE AND LOVE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ;)

Just love it, and like the rest of the world can only hope that they one day get back together, please Mr Page.

Richard Page is amazing.
1:47 - This is beautiful!
I miss 80's this high school dances
Lucky you! I wish I could have been.
Correction to the date, it was actually back in February 1986 in one of the most important events in South America called Víña Del Mar.

It was Feb. 1988. I was a kid and I saw it in TV direct/live broadcasting.
El manso sonido para la época

If we find a time machine, you all can fight over Page and Ferris all you want. Me, I want the other Steve, please! And Pat is my second choice.
What a cool video!
que pasada mefuese gustado estar ai .pues aora lo escuchó des de Alemania jaaaa
That's I call singing skills.. like him :)
I was there............
Pat is a good drummer
I'd say anyone who's good enough for King Crimson is an excellent drummer.
Richard Page must be a fan of THE POLICE
Why? Because he's a bass playing lead singer with a similar vocal range?

It's a summer festival we have in Chile every February. And it is televised for Latin America as well.

William - it looks like a Steinberger . Ross Valory ( Journey ) used one also. I think they started in the 80’s.
