It was rather flattering, getting a medical check up a couple years ago and hearing the doctor refer to me as "young." I was 41. I told her it was flattering to hear myself described that way and she said it was true. And then I shared with her this sobering thought that had crossed my mind, five years earlier, that if I had had a kid when I was first legally an adult, that year, that kid would've been legally an adult.
He’s been my favorite player, since oak. Even if he doesn’t win a ring, he will go down as one of the best offensive basketball players of my generation. When he retires, the nba community will feel it very much.
I can relate to Carmello. Growing up I wanted to change my name too. I would try names that I think would fit me and send in homework with my "supposed name" but the teacher would tell me that my official name had to be on the work to get my grade. Until when I was 14 and my mom took me to her country for my grandmother's funeral. That's when I decided not to change my name and to honor it instead.
Need more male figures like this to teach the younger generations. He said it was not about what happened to you but how you handled it and he made it with peace, grace, and love.
