great vid, enjoyable to watch. Just one comment to make. The reference points for the current grip levels of the car are A LOT harder to notice in third person than they are in first person. Different (and frankly better) visual references are available at closer distances in first person. First person (or more generally, any view that's at the drivers seat and forward) allows you to contend world records. You're good enough in third person that you'd be at the top of the leaderboards in first person.
One argument that legalizes third person view is the engine sound from the exhaust. Manta 400 has the best sound in the DiRT 3, DiRT Rally and DiRT Rally 2.0 of all cars and it's a crime not to listen to it from the best position possible.
Got the game finally, and your videos played a big role in the decision! (And the fact that it's currently 12 bucks on Humble Monthly! :DD) Keep it up mate! PS: Can you recommend a relatively cheap, but good steering wheel for this game?
0:59 i hate that corner. downhill hair pin right after you been nearly flat out in top gear you can gain allot of speed on that short downhill section but you have to time that breaking perfect. i see you pulled the hand break a tad bit on that corner hehehe.
Because it's fun to watch the car's manoeuvre (including back fires!) from the 3rd person view? Nothing wrong with that. I'm sure he does that just for fun.

Manta B is an excluse from that rule because of the best engine sound in the game. The best place to enjoy that music is the third person view.
