I just moved down one year ago to the Augusta area. I'd you have children, check out the school ratings because it is not up to par. In addition, with the lack of bus drivers (and appropriate pay) and there being closures/relocation of schools, it is important to monitor this. As a pedestrian living next to major highways, traffic is hectic and there are a lack of sidewalks. Fortunately I live next to two grocery stores (walkable or bike) and Instacart or store delivery is available.

I'm a New Yorker looking to move to Georgia in possibly 2026/2027. My wife and I are coming to Augusta in 4 weeks to see how we like it out there.

This comparison is extremely misleading . You are comparing NYC to the entire state of Georgia. The majority of NewYork state is nothing like New York City. Additionally, you will get more house for your money, but the pay is drastically less. There is still $7.25 minimum wage!

@@nmiddleton50 The federal minimum wage is $7.25, but given the high demand for employees right now, it's hard to imagine many employers sticking to that rate. In my area, wages tend to be higher. It’s also true that pay in the South is generally lower than in other states, not just New York. While most of New York State is different from New York City, it's common for people to associate the entire state with the city. Thank you for your feedback!
