Oh, The publish thing to expose the point values!! That can be super useful for the game project whenever I’m able to continue it. If we were able to expose the points of a warp node that would be a good way to achieve some easy puppetry. But even with just segmented images would be enough. Good one William!

Its very flexible and you can really move them anywhere you want by connecting with trackers, or expressions. Having some puppet options would be great as well. Not sure if there is a way to simulate that easily right now.
Excellent exploration. I love the way you approach things. I'm still learning but I think the issue tracking your forehead is that it isn't a plane - even with the dots. Excellent experiment. I learnt a lot from watching it. I still think you have the best Davinci Tutorials even with all the new guys. A lot more people using Resolve now.
William, I'm crazy into watching Resolve vids these days and just stumbled upon this one... COOL stuff!! I didn't realize point tracking was SO powerful and versatile. I'm definitely gonna check out your site and send a coffee your way :)
Absolutely the best Davinci tutorials I have found. I learn more from one of your videos that from ten from anyone else. Thank you for the work and effort.
@@WilliamJusticeMedia I'm pretty sure when you were tracking your forehead you should've used translation, rotation and scale vs perspective, because you're telling the tracker what you're expecting to change in the video. for eg, flying a drone through the air and looking at one building, the perspective would change as you continue to fly through the air while looking at that building. but in this case the things that are changing are rotation (your head moving) and scale (your head moving backwards and forwards ever so slightly)
instead of hiding with the blend tool of the merge node, juste do ctrl+p and that will "pass through" basicly bypass the node. :) I learned espacially the publish points which is soooo powerfull ! That'll help a lot for my future project ! :) thank you, just discovered your chanel and that's really interesting approache. Love it !
Hi William, This video opened up lots of possibilities for me! Publishing the points and connecting to the tracker path was so easy after this explanation. Other tutorials were more confusing but yours are very easy to follow and reproduce. Best of all they promote the understanding necessary to combine techniques! Thanks!
Thanks... This one took a bit of work but it was not too bad. Once I figured out how I wanted to do the effects, they were pretty easy to setup. Appreciate your support!
Excellent delivery of the subject matter with easy to follow demonstrations. A+ I have a feeling that I will be back to watch other instructional videos on Davinci Resolve. Thank you!
Thanks for explaining what the commands do. Usually other site just tell you what to click. That doesn't help understand what is going on or how to use the command in the future.
William, yours is one of the best explanations I’ve seen on this subject - and I’ve been looking for more advanced topics on tracking for years. I never knew about the publish feature, mainly due to my lack of looking for it. It’s easy to lose interest in fusion since it has been so buggy and crash prone in the past, very frustrating. But now that BMD is finally releasing more stable versions it’s totally worth investing more time in fusion. Keep up the the interesting and informative videos. They’re great.
Fusion is getting more and more capable. So many different things you can do. Once you know the basics it is pretty easy to setup some complex animations and effects.
@@WilliamJusticeMedia It strikes me that all the publish things should always be published, but under drop-downs. This is an extremely convoluted way of going about it. I'm also irritated that tooltips never show their associated key board shortcuts.
Mr. Justice, thank you so much for taking the time to explain these feature. I am going to second @aerostar as well, I didn't know you could publish the tracking data across multiple nodes. Good luck on future projects!
Very informative video. Instead of needing four trackers to animate a rectangle shape, I found that you can alter the Y offset of two trackers. Connect the top polygon points to the tracker1 & 2 position, then connect the lower polygon points to the tracker1 & 2 Offset Positions. Thereby essentially creating four points from only two trackers.

I'm already looking forward to all your videos ;-)
Why would you use your forehead when your eye is a far better contrast element to track?
Good question. Eyes would definitely work... This was an experiment to see what all could be done. That's one of the best parts of resolve. So many different ways to do things. Thanks for the comments.
Tracker failed terribly in my case, i was attempting to track a character in a video game, and the tracker failed miserably, i ve seen a lots of videos tracking characters in video games to substitute one character by an other for funny purpose, i don t understand why such a simple goal is so hard to achieve, i wish the tracker could be set on a specific color grade, i would have find success with this method probably, anyways tks
Like to see a Halloween mask track to face.. if possible. Thx
Yes, that is one of the things I was testing tracking for. Not exactly a mask, but something similar. I may have a video about in pretty soon.
Wait is this for the free version?
Yes, the techniques in this video are supported in the free version of resolve.
@@WilliamJusticeMedia oh wow! You're channel is going to completely transform my knowledge...thank you so much!
Well done not too BAd
thanks
Has anybody managed to pin a pEmitter to a track? I'm adding turbulence so need just the emitter to move rather than the whole render/merge. I've tried to find the right "connect to" option but just ended in a bit of a muddle!
this might help. I tracked an object and attached an emitter to the tracking position…. ruclips.net/video/IkcMBmYzYqE/видео.html
@@WilliamJusticeMedia oh that's perfect, thank you! :)
So hard and complicated .
wtf magic
This one was fun.. Just some tracking and it does great!
