The reason we did not hook it from the rear is there is debris directly behind the truck that would inhibit us from getting perfectly straight with the unit. Yes we can hook from different angles but sometimes it’s just not worth the hassle. Additionally the combination of it being abandoned and it being 50 miles from our shop leave us to believe it is safer to tow from the front, with 8 tires on the ground rather than from the rear with only 2 tires on the ground. This and the taken apart steering Column lead us to believe-front towing was the best option. We appreciate you watching!

You're right. The release cable breaks, but there are emergency release cables on both sides up under the wheel opening. It's just a wire loop hanging through a hole in the plastic.
I can appreciate all of the double checks that he performed. Even if you’re a seasoned driver such as myself, distractions can occur and throw you off. Once I forgot to release the parking break on the truck, and luckily when I got onto the highway a motorist honked his horn and gestured to the rear of the truck. When I pulled over and checked it out the brake rotor was red hot, and may of been possibly very close to bursting into flames.
What a pain in the ass to tow a rig. It's one thing on a sunny day, but in the rain or winter that has to suck extra hard. Kudos to the hard work this guy puts in.
Most of the trucks I have seen being pulled were being towed backwards. This is the first time I have seen it this way. Keep up the great work and stay safe out their on the big road.... God bless all truckers big and small.
Much Respect for you, I drove tow truck for 6 years... In Canada in the harshest weather -55c, we finally passed the law last year for people to move over and slow down in our province. Just a reminder to everyone if you see a tow truck on the side of the highway, MOVE OVER AND SLOW DOWN. Just like everyone else they have family and a life too and they'd like to return home safe!
I got towed many moons ago when the driveshaft failed on my Class 2 18T here in the U.K., the wrecker who came to tow me away had a remote for the arm but it was on a cable that wouldn’t extend under my wagon, his company had restricted the distance they could move away from their wagon ‘cause one of their drivers had been under a vehicle with the remote next to him on the ground and he’d leant on it by accident and lifted the bar up and crushed his arm. He couldn’t move to reach the remote and was stuck there with a broken arm until someone realised the body lying under the truck hadn’t moved for a while. 😳😳 Great to see you at work, great video and well edited. Thanks for sharing it! Happy trucking 😀
A trick I learned years ago is call a glass shop and have them remove the window just forward of the roll down window. It costs a lot less than a locksmith or tow truck (if you’re the truck owner)
Thanks for another good video, Trent. Very nice to have the comments coming from you, as you go along. That way the ordinary public can follow what is going on, and it is also much more entertaining.
You can air up a truck through the glad hands on the back. Just make up a glad hand with an air coupler fitting. No crawling around in the dirt and works on every truck.
There is a process to go through and a lot of variables. Likely if the owner doesnt claim it the finance company will pay for the tow and storage and collect it. If its paid off then it will have to go through Repossession. After that Plaza would own it.
Idk how it works in California or how it works with commercial vehicles, but in Ohio for light duty shit, if we impound it the owner or finance company has to come to pay the tow and impound fee, if not after 15 days we file for title and eventually when approved all fees are waived and we own the vehicle, owner owes nothing but we now own their car, Same with wrecks and such left on the lot.
It looks old enough to be paid off. It is so expensive to maintain a truck nowdays,I don t blame the owner for giving up,best thing to do is be a company driver with a decent company and leave the ownership problems to some one else.
Most likely the truck is going to have all the tow and storage fees that have to be paid by who picks the truck up. (owner or bank) if neither of them pick up the truck after notifications are mailed to both partys and a certain time frame passes the tow company can file paper work for title and legally own the truck outright.the bank will then go thru lawsuits and collection's to get how ever much money was still owed from the debtor

Beagle nose Pete's were a disaster with needing repairs. It was always something wrong with them and were money pits. I feel sorry for the guy.
So true, work on them all the time.
That's what a true professional looks like right there! Well done..
Great Video, I’m exhausted from watching you work😁 Stay Safe.
My first truck was a 387 Pete and if I remember correctly there was an additional hood latch release. For some reason I remember having to pull a cord under the driver side wheel well or something weird like that. I could be imagining this though as it was a long while back.
First time watching this type of video. So much skill and knowledge.
This dude knows what he's doing, I need guys like this in my crew..
You were to close to the door bolt. Try wedging the top corner of the door were it bends easier.
Thank you for showing this. I was always wondering how you go about towing a truck and why it takes so long get it hooked up. Well, you have answerd my question. Thanks again :)
Cool tow operator gets a new subscriber, great personality
That terrain is like Afghanistan with better roads. I did the same shit with full kit, bullets flying over head sometimes, and 120 degrees. Good job man...
I'm assuming that the bank will pay for the tow since the driver can't afford the truck...
It pays to know what you're doing. Good Job Plaza Towing.
Thank you for watching!
