Same here! Always more inspiration, and learning here. I'm sick of being busy. Even though I say no, often, I need to learn to say no to more activities.
I’ve been called selfish with my time, but my time is so valuable to me! I’m not going to waste it doing social activities that mean nothing to me. It’s hard turning people down, but you’ve got to protect your time. Like you said, you’re not turning down the person, you’re just turning down the activity.
Oh I have too. Selfish is not a time thing as much as a heart issue. I know people who would give the shirt off their backs but need lots of time to care for all their responsibilities.
two of the books that have really changed the way I look into the world and into myself is "The power of now" by Eckhart Tolle and "The four agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz.
I watch not just because of the subject, I watch because of you. There are so many minimalist RUclipsrs out there who got into minimalism 5 minutes ago and are now telling us how wonderfully perfect it all is. With you we get to watch you try different things and not all of them work. Never trust anyone who doesn't make mistakes. As for Elon Musk, he is successful not because he sleeps less, but rather because he is Elon Musk. Find your own way and be the youest you that you can be ;)
0:24?! Can we please talk about awesome this shot is!? I started watching your videos for the productivity lessons and stayed because of your dry sense of humor and dope camera shots. Always inspiring me for my channel. Love your videos man! Keep 'em coming!
I’ve been a practicing minimalism for the last year. I stumbled on your videos yesterday and love them. There has been something I have gleaned from all of them.
So glad I found your channel Gabe😊. My husband and I decided a more minimalist lifestyle was the best option for us and our three young children. We are still at the start of this journey, but the results so far have been amazing. Removing the excess and clutter from our lives, removing that distraction has brought us all so much closer and made us immensely happier😊. I'm in the process of reading Rich Dad Poor Dad, and am loving it, great recommendation👍. Your videos are so insightful and I really enjoy them. Happy New Year😊🏴
Hey mate just wanted to say the lighting and editing is definitely night and day compared to your older videos. I hope your channel keeps growing as with yourself.
Do you know what's not essential? My golf clubs, tent and inflatable mattress that have remained untouched in my closet for at least 10 years. Time to toss 'em! Thanks
So excited to Finally pick up my hold at the library on Essentialism tonite! Just read one book tuesday night within 2.5 hrs & it was life changing. This one I'm sure will be also.
I have often felt that possessing a new thing does not translate to greater happiness. You buy a new phone or a new watch, and you feel good about it for the first few days. After that, you're only as happy as you were earlier. I would rather spend my life watching great movies, reading good books, and spending quality time with my family than just accumulating stuff, apartments and land.
I firstly listened to this book twice. I have read this book so many times! I love this book! It is interesting that you gleamed different things from the book from me. My main thing was the trade off what are you trading off by doing this and the buffer allowing you to be prepared. So sweet message at the end! Been here for a while on your channel seen huge growth in you! 👍
So important to pause and step away, go have a walk get out in nature you don't need to go on a hike, can you be in your garden get used to spending time by yourself clear your head spend sometime figuring out what you are aiming at you have the answers you need to free yourself up from the distractions around you, simplify and get clear with what you want or you will always be going round in circles not getting what you want.
Book to check out, maybe you have already read, but the book Food Rules by Michael Pollen is quite interesting in applying essentialism to diet, food lifestyle
For me my biggest struggle is fear that if I don't put in 100 percent in everything I do, I will lose my job, or my kids will live in a messy house, or my husband will be unhappy. I always think that I should be responsible for everything. So letting go and saying no to myself is the biggest struggle in my minimalism journey. Because it's not about the stuff, it's about our mind and attitude.
Yes our husbands and others need to make themselves happy. We are only ONE person for goodness sakes.Take care of your house before the physical house.😊
Love love love 'The Art of Frugal Hedonism: A Guide To Spending Less While Enjoying Everything More' ~ It's a short book, but always inspiring. I read it at least twice a year...
I paused your video to listen to the audiobook : essentialism by greg mckeown, five days later I'm back to watch the rest of your video. Thanks for the tip
I’m the same as you with sleep. ‘Why we sleep’ is a great book. You may have already read it? I take naps if my body tells me I need to. I don’t fight it. 8-9 hours is perfect for longevity and protecting the brain from degeneration,
A book that changed my life "The wealthy barber". My wife and I have applied numerous tips from that book and we have managed to work only 16 hours a week for the last 30 years
Hey Gabe. I was wondering where u been. But if stopping for a sec gave you time to focus on other important things in life I understand. We all need to sometimes. I love your videos so keep doing what you are doing and I will eventually get used to the less videos a week.
My Second Grade level chair recommended this book to me! We teachers do give a F###K, the kiddos are the most important part of teaching... the other nonsense, not so much!!
you are getting so much better everytime Im back here. I remember when you had a couple of subs, and its exciting to see you grow so much. And get so much better in your video quality.
If the people you want to enjoy time with don’t want to spend time like you and would rather watch TV or scroll on social media than it doesn’t matter if you try with those people unfortunately.
I only sleep 5 hours. Only 2% of the population can do this - and we feel the same after 5 hours as you do with 8 hours. I resented it for a long time and took sleeping pills. I now accept I can only sleep 5 hours tops. This is a weird thing- but we don’t force it- it is totally natural and we cannot help it. All that to say most people I know need 8 hours and you are one of those folks. Enjoy your “more” sleep.
One book I have read recently which I recommend highly is "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I also recommend "This Year I Will..." by M.J. Ryan. I don't know how to get in touch with that author you mentioned, but maybe you could get in touch with fellow RUclipsr Thomas Frank, he does tons of videos on productivity, habits, etc. and I think he has interviewed some authors of these type of books?
Hi Gabe! Happy new year! I'm sure you will reach 100k subscribers by the end of 2021! (I hope you will always remember the people who watch and comment your videos, you know the regular followers who have been watching for a while :P I'm sure you will) hahaha :P :P :D

Hi Gabe, first of all I’d like to wish you a happy new year and all the best of luck for 2021. I’m following your channel for over 1,5 years now and I was wondering if you are investing in cryptocurrency. 2021 should be an important year for growing wealth with Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.
I read Greg Mckeown’s book on Essentialism too and it’s changed my life! If you’re interested, check out Matt D’Avella’s channel on youtube, he interviewed Greg McKeown too, and might be able to help out a fellow youtuber :) love your content and keep doing what you’re doing!

@@GabeBult Yes. It comes down to knowing people well & choosing things that both people have an interest in. And there are millions of choices!
You don’t need to apologise for being selfish .
Pondering over this
I'm much newer to essentialism and minimalism that you are, but I'm going all in on it!
