M Kai same. In third gen he’s obviously the best but I also tried analysing first gen vocalist and second gen vocalist, but Jongdae is really the best, in my opinion. Because not only is his range really wide, but the sound of his voice when he sings is super melodic.
his range is barely above average for a male tenor, he's just really skilled, thags what sets him apart. Range /=/ skill. Baekhyun has a wider range than Chen, but still Chen is a better vocalist (though Baekhyun is also great)

kristina6teen its a way to sing notes higher than his normal range, as a falcetto has the vocal register just above the avarage with an octave higher. Chen has a more head voice so he isnt able to get the same breathy falcetto sound, hense why he kinda starts to shout more at the end

STREAM SUPER JUNIOR'S ONE MORE CHANCE & BLACKSUIT Finally someone knows what made his stand out from others cover. He actually had vibrato whereas some didn't..He actually beat most of the girls who did a cover. He sounded supported. (Im not too sure,but it does for me). To my knowledge, the only one who did justice(by justice i mean had support and proper vibrato in the high note) is Chen, The girl from EXID and The guy from BTOB. Though the guy from btob had less support and sounded shaky at some parts. Almost like he's forcing his belting. Not bad, but he could really damage his vocals.
AkuSeePatrick the guy from BTOB did an amazing job as well (at least for me). But Chen just stand out from the others using his natural singing voice w/o falsettos or headtones. And again, those vibratos are heavenly insane.
The highest note seemed less strained because it was falsetto, but the notes before that very strained. There was no support after the highest note or just before it. A whole studio version would just be painful for Jongdae
JiMinSeok {Cinnamin} the good thing about studio version is that he can always prepare for it and do it again and again, unlike this one in AUA. Im pretty sure he can nail it.
Chen's range is extremely impressive, but I doubt it will last if he continues to sing the way he does. He is belting in like every song, which is in essence FORCING the note out. Even those without any training should be able to tell he's straining his voice, his veins are popping out. This way of singing is very damaging to the vocal chords. He needs to start properly supporting his notes and using more falsetto to alleviate all the stress he is applying to his vocal chords. Our beloved JongHyun, bless his soul, had excellent technique. He always supported his singing properly to the point where even his falsettos carried great power behind it. I'm not hating on Chen, don't get me wrong. He's very talented. The fact that he was able to hit those notes without falsetto is unbelievable. I just don't want to see his amazing voice be destroyed.
I had a classmate like that, too. He was awkward at first cause he was a transfer but when the battle of the bands happened it turns out he was a great baritone singer and could play 8 different instruments. Holy shit amirite?

M Kai same. In third gen he’s obviously the best but I also tried analysing first gen vocalist and second gen vocalist, but Jongdae is really the best, in my opinion. Because not only is his range really wide, but the sound of his voice when he sings is super melodic.

his range is barely above average for a male tenor, he's just really skilled, thags what sets him apart. Range /=/ skill. Baekhyun has a wider range than Chen, but still Chen is a better vocalist (though Baekhyun is also great)

kristina6teen its a way to sing notes higher than his normal range, as a falcetto has the vocal register just above the avarage with an octave higher. Chen has a more head voice so he isnt able to get the same breathy falcetto sound, hense why he kinda starts to shout more at the end

STREAM SUPER JUNIOR'S ONE MORE CHANCE & BLACKSUIT Finally someone knows what made his stand out from others cover. He actually had vibrato whereas some didn't..He actually beat most of the girls who did a cover. He sounded supported. (Im not too sure,but it does for me). To my knowledge, the only one who did justice(by justice i mean had support and proper vibrato in the high note) is Chen, The girl from EXID and The guy from BTOB. Though the guy from btob had less support and sounded shaky at some parts. Almost like he's forcing his belting. Not bad, but he could really damage his vocals.
AkuSeePatrick the guy from BTOB did an amazing job as well (at least for me). But Chen just stand out from the others using his natural singing voice w/o falsettos or headtones. And again, those vibratos are heavenly insane.
The highest note seemed less strained because it was falsetto, but the notes before that very strained. There was no support after the highest note or just before it. A whole studio version would just be painful for Jongdae
JiMinSeok {Cinnamin} the good thing about studio version is that he can always prepare for it and do it again and again, unlike this one in AUA. Im pretty sure he can nail it.
Chen's range is extremely impressive, but I doubt it will last if he continues to sing the way he does. He is belting in like every song, which is in essence FORCING the note out. Even those without any training should be able to tell he's straining his voice, his veins are popping out. This way of singing is very damaging to the vocal chords. He needs to start properly supporting his notes and using more falsetto to alleviate all the stress he is applying to his vocal chords. Our beloved JongHyun, bless his soul, had excellent technique. He always supported his singing properly to the point where even his falsettos carried great power behind it. I'm not hating on Chen, don't get me wrong. He's very talented. The fact that he was able to hit those notes without falsetto is unbelievable. I just don't want to see his amazing voice be destroyed.
