Ushguli and above

Ushguli , Svaneti, Republic of Georgia/Sakartvelo. It is one of the highest continuously occupied villages in the world, and the starting point for many hikes in the Caucasus mountains. It is a powerful place, with strong, hospitable people. The traditional polyphonic vocal music here is accompanied by the bowed chuniri.
