I appreciate the Sofia connection. It's still rooting you in life here in BG. I don't appreciate the many Bucket List RUclipsrs and their quick day or two jaunts here and there. What can one really learn about a new place in a day, or even a fortnight? It seems to benefit the travel and hospitality industry most. All this whizzing about the air to and fro. And what can one discover about oneself in such a banality of trivial pursuit to one's international education? In love and war, all is fair. As Tsun Tsu was quoted as saying, "To defeat one's enemy, one has to become him". I take that to mean that in learning about foreign culture, one eventually adopts it. Cultural assimilation after all is the better warfare. The true battles are found within oneself. So, in learning to love a place, a people, it's culture, its a bit of a war, an internal struggle to defeat one's apathy and lethargy, and prejudice and yes to let go of one's Old Self and "Become the Enemy".
BG is a work in progress. It looks fine. None of us really know what the "finished" condition will look like. Be that your wall masonry, or the country and her people. I do hope that BG doesn't lose too much in it's assimilation into the EU and the greater post Soviet life. There seems to be a general good acceptance of the EU, but still this reluctance to fully integrated. I wonder if it's nostalgia for the "good old days" or just greedy politicians portraying a weak facade of a failed State for their own benefit?
It's nice to be a tourist, but there's nothing better than being at home. And the building from minute 2 is the Ivan Vazov National Theater. And that's not what you wrote
Looks beautiful, Maya. Very satisfying work, I'm sure. Glad you had time to be a tourist.
Rediscovering tourist behavior and I like it 😆
I love those beautiful old churches. I would love to be able to visit there someday.
Why delay :) I’ve just watched a ticket to paradise on Netflix and I agree with Julia Roberts on that :)
A little time out and then working your stone artistry while the cats relax, a nice collage.
Definitely a fond memory 😎

For the holes between the stones on the wall of your house, you need terracotta adhesive for outdoor conditions.
Ah I should certainly have mentioned the purpose to the local diy store :)

Thanks! I feel super proud!
Everything looks nice - as E-Europe generally is.
Well there is a bit of NY in there 😅
