The utilities bills sound very different, compared to mine - I live alone (with a cat, of course), but in Sofia, and electricity is between 40-50 BGN in the summer, up to 160 BGN (I use electricity for heating, heating water, cooking, working... everything) in the winter. And water is like 15-20 BGN/mo. The Internet is the same price. Using gas saves you a bit, I guess, but living in an apartment building gas is too much hassle, so I just do everything on electricity.

I'm enjoying your videos so much! If I were young, again, I would totally move there. I'm 65 and this will be my last farm. I can't grow much here because of freezes in mid-June this year and 7 different varieties of rodents eating my garden. I still try though and have 44 sheep, two donkeys, a llama, 35 chickens, a dog, and 5 house cats. I farm it all myself.

If you make apple jelly or crabapple jelly then add a couple of quinces. Fantastic!!

Your place will come together slowly and daily. I like to do a few different things and not one big job a day. So I would paint railings on the veranda, (боядисване на парапета) in the morning before it gets hot and then take the afternoon and ride into Sliven and shop and just stretch my legs. Don't get too overwhelmed. It's a process and progress is daily like taking your vitamins. Just do stuff you like to do. And if it gets too much, just push it off a day or so and go for a hike.

That broken brick can make a nice border for plantings and walkways. It's slow digging work, best done in the warmer months when it hasn't rained for a bit as you know that soil gets wet and then it gets heavy. But depending on your elevation you might have a more rocky mineral based soil or a blacker, darker more organic mixture you see in a lot of areas that had some silting and flooding in times past.

Now the Winter has claimed the grasses and tall woody plants. But they will return in the Spring. The nice thing about stuff like that is that it does die back and it will slowly decompose back into the soil. Soil cover is important because bare soil can dry out and loose a lot of biological diversity that the plants need, microscopic organism that have a symbiotic relationship with the plants. So do encourage weeds even if they seem unsightly. I like Perslane or Portulaca . It's a low growing succulent that is actually edible and is a great nitrogen fixer.

Kind people are better at life. Not that unkind people are bad, but they have to overcome their unhappiness before they can be good to others. You don't have to overcome yourself.

I lived in spain before and i just moved to sofia for work. i cant wait to move back to spain. I dont like bulgaria at all. First day i arrived i already missed spain. Within a week i will go back. Spain is like heaven compared to where i live in sofia now.

We had a couple of threatening clouds on a couple of afternoons when we were in Bulgaria last week, just a few drops of rain and some pretty dramatic thunder, but it all passed us by.

It would be so interesting to know which kind of community, as I am a self thinking person, not mainstream and brainwashed, in my current place it is difficult to find likeminded people. What do you think ? Maybe also talk about the community in some future videos ?
