I just found out about your channel from Denise Reid. I spent 10 months in BG over 4 years and my experiences traveling through the country were extraordinary and transformative. Just seeing your place makes me feel homesick. I look forward to watching your adventure unfold. Since I’m tuning into the party already in progress, I’m thinking your food forest may be underway. So happy to have found you. I’ve got to get back to Bulgaria. The land speaks to the deepest parts of me.

Make sure you wear a good mask when sanding old paint as may contain lead which is dangerous…

You also had to buy paper tape to tape the glass, because then the paint is difficult to come off

Not an expert but it looks to me like a Cat's snake (Telescopus fallax). Poisonous but actually harmless to people as the fangs are at the back of the mouth. I suppose you already know, but there are two type of poisonous snakes dangerous to people here in Bulgaria. Just be careful not to step on a snake, especially with the flip-flops on. Snakes really terrify me. One of the reasons I still live in a big city and pass on the idea to live a rural life despite dreaming to grow my own garden one day.

We think the snake is a blotched snake, very cute for a snake; we've seen a few adult ones near water and they don't grow to be massively long, 2m approx. Lovely day in the garden.

Except mosquitos, ticks and flies, it's a privilege to have all kind of wildlife in one's garden. - by the way, the number of expatriates are growing rapidly in Bulgaria. Although it's from a low starting point, the growth is relatively higher in Bulgaria than in any other European country.

Hi Maya If and when you plant the spruce out in the full ground: If you have a garden hose at hand when you take the tree out of the pot, wash out all the old soil between the roots, dig a hole witch is quite much bigger then the pot, put the tree in the middle and fill it up with soil and compost and then you do the reverse - you wash the new soil between the roots. If you just put the whole thing in the ground and fill it up around it, then it takes quite long for the tree to redirect its roots to the outside to obtain new nutrition and start to grow.

Nice grapes do you spray them or feed them anything , my vines just seemed to do nothing…lol My neighbour gave me some ground apples which seem to have taken there a type of Jerusalem artichoke related to the sun flower, they need a few years to bed in before you can begin harvesting and can spread, give them a go, they do need some water though, the plant can grow quite tall but the green part is good for animal feed too so I gather.

Hello Maya, maybe there is a corner in your garden for the star link antenna, it is easier to wipe the snow off in winter. Hammer a metal pipe in the ground to mount the antenna. Put the cable in an pvc pipe ( made for electric wires) to protect it, these tubes are cheap. Good luck, it looks already great !

You have the same crocs as me! I was shocked when I realised I was still wearing mine when we went into Haskovo! I don't wear crocs out in public, well I do now! The floor looks better, we have the same. Wow that doorway could have so easily have hurt someone, thank goodness it's not an issue any longer. Beautiful grapes and skies.
